Purdue v. Rutgers Game Thread

Ivey played incredibly selfish. The late turnover was ridiculous, and the refs bailed him out time after time with simply being out of control. Love his talent, but he needs to focus on situational ball much, much more.

Which is how you lose like we did. Just play the damn game.
Yep, gotta be stronger or just as aggressive. When we attacked, we scored. We seemed timid on offense and then sometimes lost on defense.

I think we bounce back and go on a roll...

this game should never have been close. and how many times have we had a very small lead only to lose to a buzzer beating three pointer? it's as if, ok, we have the lead, and we dare them to shoot, and they always do, and they always make the shot. Wouldn't it have been smarter to foul the guy rather than allowing him to shoot? Losing games on last second three pointers is getting very old.

Are you kidding?? Without Ivey we lose this game by 20.

Selfish? He handed Sasha and Isaiah beautiful looks off of his penetration and they missed because of course they did. He basically had to play 3 on 5 down the stretch because Hunter/Morton are zeroes on offense. You saw it when Trevion was swarmed by 3 guys too. That lineup us not functional on offense.

Purdue was only up a point... wouldn't have been smart at all to foul there...

On that shot up by 1 no way you foul, you take the chance that he’s not going to hit a mid court shot.

u really asking that question up 1 point???????? Find a basketball expert that agrees with that

Hunter and Morton should never see a court together again. It puts so much pressure on the other 3 players on offense.
Hunter was not good at all with the ball in his hands, but made a couple of clutch three pointers (when no one was making them). Morton made some great feeds into Tre, and a great offensive rebound that led to a Sasha three... so, they weren't completely without offensive positives.

Wha..? I'll take my chances on the 43 footer instead of free throws.

When will you apologists realize that outside of Ivey, we have no talent at guard? But, everyone keeps telling me we’re fine at guard….
Whatever.
You have been granted the project. We are counting on you. It's December 9 and he must be here by the start of the 2nd semester. Time to stop wasting time harping and carping and whining and bring him in. We are watching. DON'T FAIL US!!!

I’m nicknaming Morton “White Eastern”.

Some people think he’s the PG of the future? Riiiiigght.

It’s on Painter for not getting someone in the portal.
But tell me Lil Andy, you still happy with our guard play?

This is what happens when you let teams hang around. You **** around and find out.
I think Purdue played too fast early trying to max possessions thinking Rutgers wanted fewer possession being short hand and maybe some sick. Purdue got away abitfrom going inside and rushing some shots and Rutgers was hot early. Purdue came out 2nd half with some effort, went inside early. Battled on the boards and made a run and now getting better looks.

First time many players were on visitor court and never had much poise. Towards the end Rutgers hits 1 ft and misses the next, but Harper has no Tre in his way and scores 2.

We know the ending , but with the ball and the lead with about 20 seconds and Matt subbedbrandon to get his ball handlers in and we throw it in the corner. Jaden got a couple of breaks with fouls and perhaps thought he would get another, but no whistle.

May need to see that inbound again

Rutgers shot 50% from 3. Purdue's 3-pt shot defense was one of the things identified early on as a weakness. Lots of things to work on, fellas. Fix any one of them and you win this game.

He wasn't selfish all the time, duh. But he certainly was at crucial points. The bull in a china shop mode doesn't work when pressed in the corner...common sense. And we don't automatically lose by 20 without him lol

If you aren't even going to try, then apparently we won't add another Ivey. So why will you even watch the rest of the season? Oh wait. Because harping and carping and whining is what makes you happy.

You don’t throw the ball into the corner on an inbounds with the trap sitting there baiting you into that pass. That was dumb on Morton’s part

I do enjoy being right.
