Purdue Strength of Schedule

I can't believe people just have us waltzing into MSU undefeated in conference play. Big difference in being favorites in every game (and would not be shocked to see us as underdogs at Michigan or at Minnesota) and actually winning them all.

In craps, odds are strong you won't roll a 7 (over 80% which is likely greater than the probability on most of our conference road games) on any given roll but it is very hard to put together a long streak together without hitting a 7 along the way.

I will be quite content if we get to East Lansing with two or fewer conferences losses. Obviously the fewer the better but we are 2-0 with I believe 11 games to go before that one. 11-2 wouldn't be a disappointment to me.

Next Tuesday (@ Michigan) and the following game next Saturday (@ Minnesota) will say a lot about these Boilers. Meanwhile perhaps Michigan State's biggest early test could come this Sunday in Columbus....but I don't see too many slip-ups for the Spartans on the horizon. I like where Purdue is headed defensively, and they will need that....but there still are some "landmine" games out there (though no visit to the Tomb this year). Looking forward to an entertaining rest of the way for the season.

Not being a dick but it’s less than 17% to roll a seven on Amy given roll. If it was 80% Vegas wouldn’t have a craps table

ummm, isn't that what he said with

Yeah, it's kind of silly. If you go by KenPom probabilities, Purdue has a 10.8% chance to be undefeated in Big Ten play heading to Michigan State. Hell, we only have a 37.2% chance to win all of our next four games.

I think you're reading into things too much. Villanova is where they are today - simply because they are undefeated and have beaten good teams.

A 10-2 team that ended up on the winners bracket of a tournament and a 10-2 team that ended up on the losers end of a tournament is not going to be looked at differently simply because of that.

And someone above mentioned they think Purdue doesn't get respect because we couldn't get past the Sweet 16 last year. That has literally nothing to do with it.

Purdue is ranked right now where it should be. It's one of the highest rated 2 loss teams in the country, and it's ranked above many 1 loss teams.
Never getting past the sweet 16 definitely makes it harder for us to crack the top ten. If our history is that our ceiling is the sweet 16, why would I rate us top ten against other teams with similar records?

I also consider myself part of the team. And so do most successful college and professional teams. have you not heard of Crimson tide Nation? It consists of the team, the school and the alumni. have you not heard the phrase, from High School Musical - We're all in this together? . When I went to school, I had athletes as my classmates and also friends. When they win and celebrate, so do I. When the y interact with the community, they represent the university and those who have gone before them, and those who will follow. They aren't the Purdue football team, they are Purdue Boilermakers.

Seattle has the 12th man as part of their ring of fame. Without us fans, there would be no team. I believe you need a short trip to Green Bay. And bring a shovel. because the fans shovel out the stadium for free. Why? because they are part of the team.

Every student at Purdue is part of the team and that includes the band, the groundskeepers, the announcers, the venders, the coaches and training staff, the yard markers, the guy who holds the headphones, and most importantly the fans and alumni who show their support and love. the team on the field was selected and chosen by a person we hired and place our trust in.

As moms and dads, that soccer team our children played on was OUR team as much as it was our children's. Without our support, their would be no children soccer leagues or little league teams, or high school teams Without our support, many high schools are now eliminating their sports teams.

So, yes, it's OUR team, and WE are proud of our players representing US.
Hall Of Fame announcer Marty Brennenman disagrees as he has said this on many occasions. Hmmm, Hall Of Famer or message board know it alls? Hall of Famer or Bob Lamey and his use of "we"?

That's when it's nice to start 4 seniors and a sophomore that plays beyond his years..

Regardless of where the game is, these are 2 teams that have caused us problems in the past. While I don't really like to play the "we always struggle playing here" or "playing there" arguments as obviously teams change on both sides - these two teams present unique challenges.

Minnesota
-Potent offense
-Very good rebounding

Michigan
-Solid defense (allows 2nd fewest points in Big Ten)
-Low turnovers
-Lots of 3s

Very good points, as Purdue struggled with both of these teams last year and both teams are hungry for resume wins. I'd be happy with splitting these 2.

For Minnesota, Jordan Murphy is a nightmare matchup. How Purdue does against their athleticism will be a good test and barometer for what to expect at MSU and other athletic teams later on in tournament.

Against Michigan, I think Painter should start Haarms to prevent Wagner from getting off to a hot start. On offense I think Vince can exploit Duncan Robinson in the post. Purdue has a better chance in this one IMO. Haarms helps Purdue so much against these small ball teams that gave them problems last year.

That is how I see this going with these two games (we split) and I would be okay with that. No one is going undefeated through the B1G so losses will come and when they do it will NOT be the end of the world/season. The old formula to win the conference I think still applies today: win all your home games and "steal" one or two on the road.

But first thing is first, have to take care of Nebraska and not look past them.
