Texas Southern v. Purdue Game Thread

Dang. So. Close. Purdue almost hit the trifecta! Almost a triple double! Almost a triple digits score! And our triple point shots were over 50% and a greater percentage than regular shots!
Purdue shot 21 or 22 threes which is about right and got to the FT line a lot

I will put up a grand to anyone who has the stones to bet we make the final four for real cash this coach doesn't have it in him

Bro stop using “we”. Thats about as much of a response anyone should give you for this awful, albeit, Hoosier like effort to troll.

13/25 (52%)..... from 3pt range, outstanding.

28/40 (70%).....from FT line, acceptable - but as Painter mentioned, team is better than it is showing. Texas Southern had two lane violations I think. Good to see Braden Smith back to business at the line 5/5, with a four-point play thrown in. Mason Gillis looked good with the technical foul shots, too.

Rough stretch after the first several minutes, but they came out strong in the second half. Texas Southern was overmatched. Friday will be a good challenge.....Boilers need to be ready and bring it.

3% was a bit higher too with the starters/main rotation. I know that doesn’t show up in the box score or mean a ton, but it’s encouraging that guys are hitting at a high rate at this point in the season. We are shooting almost 43% from 3 through 7 games compared to almost 34% last year. A good sign to see. I’m sure we will come down in % but it’d be great if we’d hover around 38% on the year. If that happens, Purdue is awfully hard to beat.

I left with a couple of minutes to go and I think at that time there were 21 or 22 three balls. Each game is different, but that number of attempts seems about right to me. Too many and Purdue doesn't get to the line and the percentage goes down (this part could be a bit of chicken/egg scenario). If Purdue gets around 62 possession having 21 and such seems about right more often than not. The game is more than just looking pretty...there is a physical battle to be waged.

The other thing is the psychology that could go on in players heads. If players know they can win and still not depend on the 3 ball by playing good D, taking care of the ball...and getting ball and/or player in the lane, then there is less pressure to make the three ball. When you can't get it to Zach and you are not in the lane with player and/or ball (Trey helps with this), then obviously each 3pt attempt has more pressure as we have seen the last couple of years.

I live ten minutes from a casino I have an idea
Ok , why don't you go into that casino, go to their sports book and tell them you want 1-1 odds that PU makes the FF. See what they say to you. Report back to us please. Here is a hint, they are going to think you are nuts.

I wouldn't expect 1-1 from sb
That's exactly what you were asking people to do in this thread. You were going to put up $1,000 that PU wouldn't make it to the FF. You challenged someone to put up $1,000 that they would make the FF. As if anyone would be dumb enough to do that. That's why I said you clearly don't understand how futures bets work. The latest odds that I have seen are 9-1 for PU to win it all. So if we assume somewhere around 5 or 6 to 1 that they would make the FF you would need to put up $6,000 not $1,000. At this stage of the season, no team is ever going to be 1-1 to make a FF. That was the point I was trying to make.

and i dont think we would expect you to understand what DryFly was trying to say. All good

I'm over it man whatever like I said we will see this season. I have some pretty affluent clients that donate and know basketball like I do and their opinions are not any different. I want him to succeed I really do...

Do you really want him to succeed? You continue to say he can't get it done in March or don't believe they can get to a F4. Also, not to be rude, but you haven't shown any basketball knowledge on your posts. I'm not saying you don't have it, but you haven't really provided any knowledge other than just complaining and stating the obvious -- "Painter can't get it done in March" which we all are aware of the last 3 years. I think every single one of us would say it's been rough with the losses to a 13 and 15 (even though it was in the S16) and the 16 seed (an awful, embarrassing loss). We are all on the same team here, discussing the team and the potential it looks like we may have...all while knowing the awful, most recent postseason results. And all hoping we can keep this play up, not breakdown and make a deep run.

You must be new here! The majority of posts made here are not about basketball but rather to cut others down!

Most of the "cut down" posts are self-inflicted invitations to ridicule, done by the by original poster. Often, such in this case, the original poster who posted something idiotic is now playing the victim.
