IU's Next BB Coach is

🙄 But Lexington is still much more of an urban environment than Bloomington. Louisville is too. Both have great restaurants, finer dining, clothiers, and way more niceties than you could ever get in Trailer City.

IU might land Little Slick though.
Bloomington is more of a simple college town. Small town feel is what people love about it and it's got a beautiful campus. As for Rick... I'm sure he could find a restaurant around Bloomington with a table in a dark corner.

So Tony Bennett and Jay Wright(both above Painter) aren't great coaches?
Where was that in my post?

As for Jay he was losing his 'edge' to coach nothing in regards to NIL. Tony understood he was trending downward and his lack of offense wasn't helping the program get better.

Paint just keeps getting better the more years he coaches. I said this before and I'll say it again. After Izzo leaves he will be the best coach in the B1G.

What's Trilly talking about now?
On second thought, if I relayed on this board what Trilly is saying, Purdue heads would explode, it would be 'troll and mock the IU fanbase time' even though it's Trilly (who I don't believe has any particular connection to IU) is saying it, and I would be quoted for the brunt of the trolling. So not going there.

I believe I saw that Purdue has defeated MSU in 9 of the last 10 played. If so, …..

I love your enthusiasm, but don't be homer. I love CMP, but until Izzo is gone. He's the pinnacle of coaching in the B1G.

Izzo:
726-299 overall record
8 FF's
10 B1G Champs
1 NC
26 consecutive tournaments
CMP:
466-209 overall record
1 FF
5 B1G Champs
0 NC

You forgot about all the trailer parks in the area!

There are multiple definitions of best. You clearly think it's accomplished. And that's okay. But that's not the only definition.

Yes, it's definitely a very fluid question/answer and can be determined by multiple things, timeline, success, etc.

This is just my opinion, some will feel the same, some will not and putting CMP up with Izzo is a compliment. The only people that I tend to disagree with are usually IU fans that don't believe CMP is a top tier coach. If he's top 2 IMO in the conference this is exceptional and love that he's at Purdue.

It's a free board for people to discuss freely.

Interesting response when married with this:

Agreed, they can do a ton better than him. May or Beard in my opinion is there next Coach.
Agreed, they can do a ton better than him(Alford).
Yes.

My take? Beard is extraordinarily unlikely, and May is not the most likely final answer.

26 consecutive tournaments might be the most impressive thing, to me. Did Coach K , Dean Smith, or Knight even do that ?

Honestly, I don't know.

That's a crazy stat to me. Even the 8 FF's are pretty crazy. I do see CMP getting on a roll in the tournament. Maybe a few FF's in the next few years. If, he doesn't leave for IU 😂

No, Tom Izzo currently holds the record at 26.

Krzyzewski had 24 and Smith had 23. Think Knight's longest streak was the last part of his tenure - '86 - '00 (15 years). Indiana was at least in the NIT in '79 and '85, IIRC.

You have Self and Few I think as the next longest who are active coaches.

Impressive for all of them. I think the only realistic knock on Izzo's tournament record is his Final Four record of 3-7, lost six times in the semi-finals.....but hey, you get there eight times and at least win one - that's a helluva job in most people's view....

I know this is a lazy reply, but do we know when Izzo had his best run? I feel like CMP is right on the cusp of doing the same. Yes, we didn't win it all but we got there. We are expected to be there every year it seems. He has us an a special place and that's comforting.
