When do you believe the next head coach and staff will be hired for men's hoops?

Will it be within the next year or two?

Will it be within the next five years?

Will it be within the next 10 years?

Will it be within the next 15-20 years?

Again, that's not one of the options. You can answer 10 years or 15-20 years. 10+ is not a valid choice.

This is click-bait that is totally aimed at going off-topic.

Plus, the answer is 100% dependent on future happenings ... zero %% based on what we know now.

It's easy to understand. Nagemj02 had a crap year with Purdue exceeding expectations thus assuring Painter's continued security. Now a poorly timed broken wing made it easier for a loss to happen opening the door to new backdoor attacks on the coach. Earlier he posted a thread virtually challenging Bobinski to replace Matt. That thread has disappeared. Nagemj02 is a vauable contributor on here but his hatred for Painter is irrational and cannot/will not be relieved.

Maybe if you ask Louisville nicely they will throw a ton of dough at him. Personally, I am in favor of change after 10-12 years. Good for both parties. I think Tiller said something to that effect one time.

What is painter 45. I say he coaches at Purdue till he is 70 so another 25 years. He’s building the program up his way and doing it honestly. He isn’t leaving soon. Maybe not 25 years but I would like him to be here another 25 years. You people think that we should be in the final four every year or else painter gets fired are idiots. I say two consecutive sweet sixteens are amazing. We might take a step back next year but only to take two steps forward after that. The future is bright and anyone else saying it isn’t has their head up their ass. That is all rant over.

no it isn't ... zero information that is pertinent is known.

Everyone here knows your agenda ...

The answer is your personal opinion, not a math problem.

Opinions are not based on facts. Google critical thinking. I never give a personal opinion. They are usually stupid and easily made to look so.

And clearly yiu want to find sone stupid validation to your wanting Painter gone

Lol, you just gave three opinions in your post. You clearly don't want to answer directly, as instructed.

23 years, 5 months and 2 days. It will really suck because that will be in August and the fate of the season will hang in the balance.

This is asinine. The last time Purdue was in the final 4 was before many on here were born. Who has ever said anything CLOSE to Purdue should be in the final 4 every year? Beilein is on his way to his 2nd final 4 with UM. There's a coach. Doing it the right way, took over a program that was in bad shape, and get's a mixture of solid role players and occasional stars and has had a ton of success. Hopefully CMP moves onto UL and we can find the next John Beilein.

As discussed in another thread, it took John Beilein 30 years as a head coach to get to a Final Four. I don't get the feeling you are willing to be that patient.

I am not on team fire painter but that includes 10 years coaching d2 and was only 10 years after taking his first high major job (he made his first elite 8 in 3)

People here are calling for painter to be fired. What more can he do for people call for his firing? Get to the final four every year. Winning big ten championships and getting to the sweet sixteen isn’t enough for some people. So yes the only other thing to do to keep them happy is get to the final four every year. They’re greedy.

The real answer is that we will hire a new coach whenever Matt decides to hang them up. Given his age, I would guess that would be 15-20 years but could be longer if he chooses to continue. He will retire a Purdue legend.

A Purdue legend because once again there will be no banners just like his predecessor. But be proud to have a "clean" program and all those crap excuses. I had my doubts about Painter prior to this season based on past performance. But I kept an open mind because I thought this year was different. And in the end, it wasn't.

It took Beiein thirty years of being a head coach, and about 20 in D1 before reaching his first final four.

I get that some was at Canisius and Richmond, however it's still more experience which Painter's career hasn't been that long in comparison. He's made improvements from early mistakes, and I'd likely see more progression as he gets a bit older. He's a really good coach. It remains to be seen if he's able to become a great coach.

Umm, Purdue hasn't been to a Final Four since 1980. That's since before Keady. Fans here are not being greedy. This year was a major disappointment. 3rd in the Big Ten, out in the sweet 16, and blown out in the Big Ten tournament with a senior laden class that Painter recruited.

Whoever the next coach is, the offensive style MUST NOT BE the bronze-age, 1970's weave-motion offense (which has not gotten us to the FF in 38 years and counting) that fails to attract athletes. The game has changed and we need to catch up. We just got beat by a team (TT) from a football state that had a bench and starting line up full of athletes that play above the rim. And please, don't tell me Kansas and Dook only gets those players, TT's players are all 3-star and below.

Like Gene Keady, Painter's been too successful to fire but not successful enough to consistently land Final Four caliber talent.

I'll say this for Painter: he hasn't had the best luck. He's won 14 or more B1G games 5 times but has only 2 league titles to show for it. His 3 best teams have been compromised by injuries to a key starter--twice (2010 and 2018) right before or during the NCAA tournament. He's shown a lot of class, but it has to be frustrating.

Ainters like to rag on Painter for not being able to recruit "final four recruits" but won't/can't accept the difficulty of getting those guys to Purdue. Most of us love Purdue and remember our college experience through gold colored glasses. Purdue will never be a mecca for kids that want big city life. Great place to get a quality education but 5 star kids are looking to move on in a year. West Lafayette is not the kind of "fun" destination most would want to spend a year playing basketball if the education in also important. That leaves the formula that is starting to evolve. You have to search for solid 3 and 4 star kids with high basketball IQs desiring a family team approach and a good education in a small town setting and hope it all comes together. You find the kids in small town TX, OH, AL, etc. Replacing Matt with a Pitino, Calipari or Coach K would likely have little effect on our FF capabilities unless you're willing to roll the dice by shoveling shoe money to Mom and Dad. It would still be Purdue with the same handicaps to "legal" recruiting. I've seen Purdue in two FFs. I believe I'll see more but believe that few teams could have lost a Hummel or a Haas near the end of the season and still made a deep tourney run.

When Matt decides to retire or take a better job. It's that simple Nag....no bad rumors or police calls, competes for the league, makes the dance, gets to the final 16 teams in the country.....where's he going?
