Another YUGE road test for the Boilers as they visit College Park, Maryland to take on the Terrapins in the only regularly scheduled match-up between the teams.
Purdue is coming off an 80-59 win over No. 25-ranked Northwestern on Wednesday night, the Boilermakers' third straight win over a nationally-ranked team (Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Northwestern). The Boilers will be looking for a fourth straight win over a ranked opponent for the first time since the 1997-98 season.
Maryland has thrived in close games this year, owning a 9-1 mark in games decided by six points or less. The Terrapins boast three of the league's top freshmen in Justin Jackson, Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter while junior Melo Trimble is one of the nation's top point guards.
I expect Maryland to force Purdue's hand on defense with constant attacks from the guards. However, if Purdue can stay out of foul trouble and shoot reasonably well....the Boilers have a good chance. These are also two of the more turnover-prone teams in the conference....whoever can get an extra possession or two might be the difference.
No let-up with the schedule either way after this one....The Boilers close out their grueling five-game stretch next Thursday in Bloomington against Indiana.
Boiler up, my friends.
