looks like iu will land mcgumba

Stupid hire. And many, many stupid fans never stopped wishing he was still at IU. After it was revealed that he cheated, the stadium rocked with fans chanting his name and social media was filled with IU fans defending him. And Indinia Nation was gleeful that the administration allowed the known cheater to finish the season. If someone should search Kurt's post history, where did he stand?
He stood clueless. Just as he was about the "cleanest program in the last 100 years" LOL

Sampson was actually a smart and good hire. Much like tressell was a good hire at OSU. They both ended up being fired not because of what they did on the court/field, but because of their actions off it.

I wonder if you would say the coaches that purdue lost because of NCAA infractions on the mens and womens basketball were stupid hires ? It's easy to point fingers at other school coaches when they are fired because of NCAA violations. How about talking about the Purdue coaches ? there's a saying about people who live in glass houses. how does it go again ?

No.

I believe you really don't know how it goes.

Were the Purdue coaches (you failed to mention names) hired by Purdue after getting their previous schools on probation? Would that be a red flag? Would it be considered stupid to hire them ponly to watch them put your own school on probabtion?

Don't answer. I don't want you to strain yourself by actually thinking.

Apples and oranges. Tressel was no choir boy but kept his nose mostly clean and then got in trouble after 10 years at OSU. Sampson was a known Cheater before he got to IU. He coached 58 games at iu and was THE reason painter was credited with saving his career when he was able to pick his crop with the Hummel, moore, JJ, and Martin class (and iu also missed on Teague and Matt Howard. That was really the beginning to the end for indiana basketball and the domination of Purdue over indiana, and many fans would consider that hire to be an absolute disaster. Context adds everything man…

Yep. It had to do with a bank loan that a former player thought he didn't have to pay back. I've never heard of a player getting a loan thru the proper channels under the guise of a recruiting inducement.

Honestly, the biggest reason I've heard they came down on us is because Frank Kendrick lied to the investigator about giving a recruit a ride.

It probably didn't hurt that the NCAA offices in Indy were littered with IU grads.
I mean Hanner Perea and Peter Jurkin had to sit games because their guardian bought bumper stickers before they were born. Welcome to the NCAA.

Wow that’s a mischaracterization of the situation. It had nothing to do with the fact that “guardian” was a major booster and was providing impermissible benefits to those players including hosing and gifts and never was an actual guardian. The “bumper sticker” was the hook to qualify the booster as an official booster of the athletic department, just a technicality but the violation itself was pretty egregious.
