IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

IU deserved to be in CFP. They did not set up the conf schedule. Many of the CFP teams played weak ass out of conf schedules. Ga has played two out of conf games away in the last 10 yrs. Most of the neutral away games have been played in Atlanta. A home game for Ga. Will USA have a column on why SMU should not be in the CFP? They are playing like crap! Three or four TO’s, down 21-0.
No because SMU has wins against two ranked teams, beat Louisville who IU took off of their own schedule prior to season, and didn’t get slaughtered in the losses they did have.

Curious whether the “copium” is …

Coming back here after the loss.
Stating that Notre Dame was the better team.
Stating that IU finished 11-2.
Wishing all a Merry Christmas.
First, no surprise to me. Notre Dame beat Purdue much worse than IU if all things are considered other than the score when the players quit the latter part of the season and ND backing off a bit the second half against Purdue. That said, the team that had IU logo was significantly better than previous years in the few games I was able to catch. We know the schedule was weak and their record would "probably" not be as good with a more difficult schedule, but they beat the teams that were on the schedule...and beat many BAD. The team had more discipline it appeared to me overall and was solid on both sides of the ball. This was a good team. How good we will never know, but significantly better than IU teams of the last few decades. They have what appears to be a good coach and it should improve IU football for the future.

Purdue looks to have righted the ship relative to coaching, but the proof will be in a couple of years when established a bit.

They face Georgia next, Twin. One big issue is status of ND DL Rylie Mills. He went out last night in 3rd Q with a knee injury. Although the Fighting Irish didn't need him the rest of the way against the Hoosiers, his absence was still felt - would be a big blow if he couldn't go in the QF round.

Agree that Notre Dame's defense is pretty darn stout, but I'm not totally sold on the complete team yet. We shall see.
I meant Geogia. Slip of fingers. I like ND's QB's decisions for the majority and think he will do well.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

The strength of schedule needs to be a bigger part of the CFP selection process. IU's performance last night showed exactly what we all knew, IU did not deserve to be in the CFP. Cig's argument that they streamrolled their opponents doesn't hold water, since they beat the lower half of the CFP members this year. There is not a top 20 team that their team could have beat this year. I guess they can at least put up a banner that they made the CFP.

Here is a great USA Today article talking about this stupid CFP committee decision and there was no way that IU should have been in the top 12 for the CFP.

But okay… for your satisfaction, you apparently:

Are pretending I didn’t come back after the loss?
You think Indiana was the better team?
You believe Indiana did not finish 11-2?
You are having a most ‘un-Merry’ Xmas?

If that prevents you from the heartbreak of copium? Go for it!

And Merry Christmas to the rest of you!! 🎄

Herschel Walker: Ambassador to the Bahamas

This sentance captures the confusion of the woke. They sincerely believe that hiring someone because of their race is not racism. The idea of being color blind in hiring is sheer fiction to them.

Same is true with illegal immigration. If you oppose millions of people coming into our country illegally, then the woke insist that you are a racist. You aren't motivated by national security or the cost of supporting these aliens or concern about the crimes they cause, your sole motivation is racial hatred.
It simply amazes me that some can't see that DEI is the epitome of Racism and Sexism. How can it become any clearer to see special privilege given dependent of race or sex and yet not connect that is the definition of racism and sexism? This is why wokeness will not be gone in a couple of years. As simple as the understanding is...it is far too difficult for many.

Playoffs....

I can see ND beating Clemson and moving on. They're defense is something special.

update on portal

Once again you don’t know what you are talking about. 5 players have returned from the portal since they hired Odom and some have said they were waiting to see. Ryan Browne said he would wait and see and then left after we didn’t keep him and got Singleton. Yanni was expected to wait and I think it was apparent to him he would be recruited over. I think there are still some that could potentially come back like Davila and a couple of the DBs. But not too often you get 5 to come back like that.
Only 3 have withdrawn from the portal. Browne was technically gone when Singleton signed.

Playoffs....

Having grown up in South Bend I can say this is categorically false. The town is the armpit of Niles Michigan.

And frankly neither team should be in the playoffs. ND lost .. at home.. to NIU and Indinia played one team with a pulse and aside from a couple garbage-ish TDs, basically got crushed.

So realistically whichever team moves on stands a good chance of getting curb stomped in the next round. ND is less likely to get blown out I would say as opposed to indinia.
I can see ND beating the Dawg's and moving on. They're defense is something special.

Purdue vs. Auburn: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today, the #16-ranked Purdue Boilermakers (8-3) visit Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama to take on the #2-ranked Auburn Tigers (10-1) in an intersectional clash, the Battle in Birmingham. Tip is scheduled for around 4:30 pm (Eastern time) with television coverage on ESPN. This is the fourth meeting between the schools and the first since Cancun in 2016. Purdue holds a 2-1 series edge with the loss coming in the first ever meeting, a last second heart-breaker first round game in the '85 NCAA tournament, courtesy of Chuck Person, Chris Morris, and company.

Projected Starting Line-ups:

Purdue - Trey Kaufman-Renn, Camden Heide, Myles Colvin, Fletcher Loyer, and Braden Smith

Auburn - Chaney Johnson, Dylan Cardwell, Chad Baker-Mazara, Denver Jones, and Miles Kelly

_____________________________

Purdue is coming off a tough loss to Texas A & M in Indianapolis a week ago, while Auburn smashed Ohio State and Georgia State most recently. One of the big question marks for this game is the health and availability of Auburn's star player and NPOY candidate, Johni Broome. He injured his right shoulder in the early going of Auburn's game with Georgia State, and although initial indications were that he might miss significant time - the update prognosis has improved to a day-to-day rehab type injury. He is travelling with the team for this game, but his overall status has not been confirmed.

With or without Broome, Purdue faces a very difficult task today matched up against the type of team that gives it fits with a big, physical presence at multiple positions, especially in the back court.

The Tigers enter this game 10-1 overall and have yet to take the floor in SEC action on the season. Against Georgia State, Auburn never trailed in the contest as they led by 12 at the half before burying the Panthers in the second half as they outscored them 57-28 to roll to the victory. The Tigers shot 57.4% from the field, including nine of 25 from three-point range, and held Georgia State to 33.9% shooting in the game. Chaney Johnson (filling in for Broome) led the Tigers with 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win.

Auburn comes into this Battle in Birmingham 6th in the nation in scoring offense as it puts up an average of 88.5 points per game on the year. The Tigers pull down an average of 39.3 rebounds per contest (63rd) and are 15th with an average of 18.7 assists per game. They are above average defensively as they are 46th in scoring defense by allowing an average of 65.1 points a night.

Johni Broome leads Auburn offensively and is one of six players averaging in double figures as he puts up 18.1 points and 11.5 rebounds plus 2.7 blocks per game this season. Miles Kelly (10.3 points), Chaney Johnson (10.6 points, six rebounds), Chad Baker-Mazara (13.2 points) and Denver Jones (10.9 points, 2.5 assists) are solid secondary scoring options. Tahaad Pettiford (10.7 points), Jahki Howard, JP Pegues, Dylan Cardwell and Chris Moore are all looked at to contribute. Auburn shoots 51.1% from the field as a team on the season, which is eighth in the nation. The Tigers knock down an average of 10.4 three-pointers a night while shooting 38% from beyond the arc on the year, which is 45th in the nation. Auburn has been above average on FT's as they convert 76.5% of their attempts on the season, which is 46th in the country.

KenPom ratings has Auburn 1st overall (1st offensively and 14th defensively) while Purdue is currently at 23rd (9th offensively and 67th defensively). Adjusted tempo - pace of play has Auburn rated 185th to Purdue's 308th. Similar to last week - it may seem counterintuitive, but Purdue might be well served to exploit some transition/break opportunities rather than wait for the inevitable conundrum in some half-court possessions.

No question, the Boilers will have to play their best collective game to even hang with this Auburn team, and Braden Smith, Trey Kaufman-Renn, and Fletcher Loyer will really need to step up and produce at a high level like they are capable. The athleticism of Myles Colvin and Camden Heide can really be useful this afternoon - but they absolutely have to take the initiative on that and make plays at both ends of the floor.

If Broome is a no-go, that will benefit Purdue, but it also means they'll get a heavier dose of Chaney Johnson and Auburn's bench. As Matt Painter surmised - "The combination of their front line and their ability to score at the basket in different ways that go along with just straight-up quickness and athleticism. Very few people can sub and be better — and they can."

Also from Painter - "The beat goes on. They have guys that come off the bench and don't play a lot — anywhere from five to 15 minutes — that score 17, 18 points in places. So, they're very talented. He's (Bruce Pearl) done a great job with this group. They're a very good defensive team. Obviously, they're the best team ever at this point, efficiency-wise offensively, in the history of KenPom. So, I think that speaks for itself."

This is the last of the four match-ups with Southeastern Conference teams for Purdue, having wins over Alabama and Mississippi and the loss to Texas A & M. Can the Boilers close it out with a third win today? If so, they'll have to do it in a hostile environment against one of the best teams in the nation.....we shall see coming up in a few hours or so.

Boiler up, my friends...

Folks who are against DEI are racist and do not want blacks to be hired to the same positions as whites. Plain and simple.
Okay, I'm declaring a truck load of bull shit with this statement. All conservatives want is the most qualified person running things, whether that be the US or Indiana. You've gone totally batshit crazy with this statement.

Y'all say absolutely nothing about legacy admissions in colleges. How do you think dumb ass Bush the Younger got into Yale? How do you think AZ Sen. McCain got into the Naval Academy?
Both Bush and McCain (though I'm not a strong McCain supporter) were qualified to enter and both were intelligent enough to do so. Bush the younger was a pilot, and you can't be stupid and live doing that. You know, like Lurch claiming to be a River boat pilot in Viet Nam.

I have no doubt trump and his ace cabinet picks will do away with DEI hires. I'm not sure what else these unqualified boobs will get done but you will be able to declare victory on the DEI front. That's certainly the biggest problem we have.
Count the DOE gone and returned to the states where it should have been all along. It's friggin' time government and political favors are reigned in and a balanced budget is in place. Oh my, you lefties are going to be so wrung out at the end of the next four years.

Border wall auction

The plan was to wait 2 more years so I could qualify for PERF (an extra income) and keep busy while she was still working. I have just shy of 2 years to go to get my PERF. I'm done working after that. If I can make it that long lol. We are fine financially. She could retire at 58 so we could travel. We'd have to pick up Health insurance for her way.
I think retirement should come before we work....I know, it sounds so liberal. Work when you're too old to travel, golf, fish, ski...you get the drift. But being able to do what you want is such a pleasure. I wish you well.

POTFH or POTFI

And we still didn't get destroyed like Ohio State did against Clemson or Michigan State did or like Notre Dame in their last two trips in the CFP. Indiana belonged, Notre Dame was just better. Nothing for Indiana fans to fuss about. Had an Amazing season.
Belonged? 😂 IU was Soft, Slow, and Timid. Daunted. Getting dog walked by the two good teams IU played showed the world just how much they didn’t belong.

Zach Edey for THREE!

This game must have been so satisfying for Zach. Not just for stuffing Draymond in a locker (0-0-0!), but for blocking Steph Curry’s 3/outscoring Steph from 3.

Zach’s spent the last 2+ years hearing how he’ll never make it in the NBA because today’s league is all about 3s and he’s too slow to guard the perimeter/can’t shoot from deep. Basically Curryball. So fitting to show off his ascending talents against Steph himself.
