IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

Drove past campus yesterday afternoon as I was out trying to secure an elusive Christmas gift and from my observation there were a lot of IU fans that seemed to be having a pretty good time. They will be ok.
Sure, they have the preseason #2 ranked BT basketball team to look forward to this winter…..well, maybe they should back to drinking that egg nog.

Herschel Walker: Ambassador to the Bahamas

Folks who are against DEI are racist and do not want blacks to be hired to the same positions as whites.
This sentance captures the confusion of the woke. They sincerely believe that hiring someone because of their race is not racism. The idea of being color blind in hiring is sheer fiction to them.

Same is true with illegal immigration. If you oppose millions of people coming into our country illegally, then the woke insist that you are a racist. You aren't motivated by national security or the cost of supporting these aliens or concern about the crimes they cause, your sole motivation is racial hatred.

The programming that has taken place has taken hold in some and I seriously doubt that in two years DEI will no longer exist or be reduced significantly. I would love to be wrong, but too many have lapped it up. Even with a few more minorities voting for Trump, the democrats contain many that see themselves as victims as well as seeing them as needing more control over their lives. Unfortunately, MLK's concern for character is mostly found in history books
Folks who are against DEI are racist and do not want blacks to be hired to the same positions as whites. Plain and simple. Or blacks that do not fit your political ideology as republicans. I never heard y'all call Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice DEI hires. Or even the subject of this topic, Herchel Walker a DEI hire. Also, y'all never put a label on any white person that is clearly not qualified for positions.

Y'all say absolutely nothing about legacy admissions in colleges. How do you think dumb ass Bush the Younger got into Yale? How do you think AZ Sen. McCain got into the Naval Academy?

Weird. I see ND beat 4 top 25 teams at the time they played them?

I also see IU at 32 and ND at 38 for SOS. SMU at 60. But I guess espn must be lying to me?

True-Army and Navy were ranked back then. I guess Florida State was at one point and Northern Illinois was too after they won at Notre Dame. Probably why end of season strength of schedule is a good/best indicator. IU beat both #25 Nebraska and Michigan, and Michigan turned out to be a far better team.

Didn’t realize SMU played that easy a schedule!

I don’t get it. He’s got no chance to play there for 2 years. And if he sticks it out there, they could easily buy a guy from the portal who has actually played to start over him if he even becomes the backup there. He should be transferring down to actually play football.
Who knows in another seven years from now he might be on some NFL teams practice squad.

Nah…ND beat one current top 25 team — A&M. Louisville was top 25 when ND beat them, but so was Nebraska when IU beat them. And ND had that home loss to NIU.

Anyway— ND has the worst strength of schedule of playoff teams and I don’t think it’s that close.

The strength of schedule needs to be a bigger part of the CFP selection process. IU's performance last night showed exactly what we all knew, IU did not deserve to be in the CFP. Cig's argument that they streamrolled their opponents doesn't hold water, since they beat the lower half of the CFP members this year. There is not a top 20 team that their team could have beat this year. I guess they can at least put up a banner that they made the CFP.

Here is a great USA Today article talking about this stupid CFP committee decision and there was no way that IU should have been in the top 12 for the CFP.

Before it’s all said and done there will probably be more teams that look like they didn’t belong.

Did notre dame not beat 4 top 25 teams? IU’s strength of schedule was propped up by playing at Ohio state, no? It was pretty awful until they played at OSU I believe.

Meh. It was coaching. 1000%

Not to say he’s great or ready to contribute at a school like Clemson but he was out there doing what he was told. It was bad and totally the wrong thing but he had no LBs to back him up and got benched a few times for making plays but not in the flow of what was called on defense.

We should be just fine without him but he’s a guy who still has potential to be good at the CFb level.
I agree. I liked Heldt. Has all the physical tools, but needs a coach to instill the mental tools. He'll play on Sundays.

I think he means that Notre Dame had the same record and an easier strength of schedule leading to their playoff birth.

But when they played each other, Notre Dame was a much stronger team, and the talent disparity was big.

And what an incredibly, incredibly fantastic, enjoyable season for the Indiana Hoosiers!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all on this board!

Loosiers should not have been in the playoff period. The committee f@$k up there.
Everytime I see coach Cig's face I wanted to punch it. And I know I'm not the only one...
Come on, its a game! You sound like a IU fan on their basketball forum talking about Purdue! Congrats IU, great season!
