Nice....USC over Illinois

Illinois didn’t have its star freshman, called the best point guard in the nation by a St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist, although his Illini nation obviously doesn’t include bearded homesteaders. Kasparas Jakucionis was out with forearmus hurtus. Strained it patting himself on the back.

The Trojans had broken down and failed every time on the road against ranked opponents for over 15 years. No wonder all the drive-ins wound up having to close.

SMITH IS THAT GUY

So I've written about Maddox before and will just add a few things. When Braden was a senior in high school I had just met Ginny and was sitting near her and Dustin. I started asking about Maddox and she told me that sometimes it is scary just what he sees on the court and the questions he asks...very high IQ! I see him at Mackey with mom and dad almost every game and believe he is around 5'10" right now...could be off an inch, but he is tall and Dustin says he still has growing to do. I told mom she is going to have to scare the girls away because he is such a good looking kid. Lastly, I keep telling Maddox and Dustin I have to get down there to see him and Dustin tells me (when Maddox wasn't around) to not come down for a school game, but wait for AAU and my guess is that with even better players he is even better. I told Maddox he was his "own" player and to be himself and he nodded in which I took that he had been told that before.

With Braden's play at Purdue and these influential years in Mackey it would be natural to think Purdue is in good shape here.

Going to see crazy wins from time to time. Just like Purdue losing to PSU.... have the right matchups and/or catch a team right, and it can happen.

Illinois already beaten twice by lower tier teams. But also has 2 road wins. Well the home loss voids one of those road wins in a way.

Just hope we can win all home games.
This is why it’s really hard to win more than 15 games in the Big Ten. Pretty easy to stub your toe against second and third tier teams. Games like Nebraska on Sunday are as important as IU.

Purdue at Rutgers: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Because he’s been great at it and been praised left and right by a lot of Purdue beat reporters and fans.

What specific plays are you referencing that he got beat?
One in particular where he was attempting to guard someone on the high post and the Rutger player drove by him for a clean and easy layup. I know you love him, I know you think he's going to be one of the best ever in black and gold, but I don't see anything in his demeanor that allows me to think he's even close to playing any part of the game well.

We'll just have to agree to disagree until when he finally earns his keep.

And again, I can only hope that he proves me wrong but right now Cox, Burgess, Heide, and Harris are better and more productive. Colvin is shooting 41% overall, 31% from 3, and 61% from the free throw line. He has more turnovers than assists. The only positive stat is that he's averaging one steal per game, and he's gotten some boards that's helped.

Sorry, but I just don't share your enthusiasm for the young man, and he's had a lot of chances to prove us wrong. I'd take Cox or Harris in the lineup all day over him.

"Finding those guys in the portal that have those winning qualities."

Not sure I've ever seen a scorer (here) that is so up and down on FT's. ok, mostly down-ish. But several times this season he's looked Good shooting it and I've relaxed and thought great he's figured it out and then a game later he looks dyslexic shooting it. His arm movements get stiff and elongated when he's off, and how much wrist flick is inconsistant. Just looks discombobulated. ???
I don't get it. In addition to the things you mention he falls away on half of them. Furst FT are looking weird too. Seems like he is releasing the ball under his chin. Robbie does half our games couldn't he work this guys on a repeatable and reliable form? It will bite us at some point.

CB Brown looks like a good one.

I like the fact the coach is addressing every position rather than stockpiling at one specific position!
That’s not even true. Hes stockpiling at QB (3) DB (6), and WR (5). I do think he’s trying to get more DL too. Ironically those are the same positions you have been critical of past coaches.

You always portray you holier than though attitude that you know more than the coaches. We have a OC and Oline coach that were oLine specialists and really good and we lost all 5 starters and don’t have much depth. Yet we didn’t recruit the portal for Oline hard. Even the OC from UNLV Hasz didn’t list Purdue among the schools recruiting him hard.
The reality is the portal isn’t a litmus test about prioritizing position groups. It’s just a resource to build a team. With OLine I suspect the development of talented OLine is more important than the portal. Obviously we did get the sure thing in Chop St John at LT, but instead of going after a solid one year rental like Hasz was not in the plan. He’d rather develop Purvis and Vicari who have very little experience. And the talent we have here in Ball, Trent, Tanona, Sales, Liston, and Coly. Hopefully Gorin. Maybe can turn Randle, Green, Parrott, and Bouldin into good OL. Vacarro is the wild card.

His shooting form reminds me of Braden's.

I grew up there. One would be surprised at the benefits of Lifting a bale of hay.
If the bale is large square bale which weighs 500 lbs. It would be very beneficial.lol
Seriously my high school coach used to get after me to come into lift weights during the summer. He wanted me to be in better shape. Usually I had just finished a day of 6 hours throwing 80 pound hay bales up to 10 feet in the air, with temperature in the high 80's to 90's with humidity at 80%. During 2 a days the sissy city kids were dying halfway through practice when I was just getting warmed up. You could tell the farm boys from the others.
