Colvin and Heide yikes

Y’all are right. There’s no issue here, Colvin is the man. He’s not 3 of his last 23 from three over the past 7 games. 31% on the year for a guy who has no game other than catch and shoot from deep. It’s all good.

In reality, he’s already gained and lost a starting spot, now he’s playing himself out of the rotation. It is what it is.
Still 31% even after going 3/23 recently? Hmmm…sounds like a shooting slump to me. But sure, let’s take Wheeler who was 21.6% his entire sophomore year.

Who are you cheering for Monday?

I am liking the results of the bowl championship, although I had hoped for a PSU vs OSU rematch.

Big Ten is 5-1 against the SEC this year.

Curious who the board picks, ND or OSU. Both have an obnoxious fan base. I am going for the State of Indiana over the State of Ohio.

We were 3-1 against Notre Dame in my years at Purdue 1962-1965, and one of the reasons I hate them is that they would always be higher ranked, but that really has more to do with the rankers who would always over-rank them. But for me, that was the main game of the year. I would love to have another coach with Mollenkopf's success. Keep them on the schedule and beat them!
Rankers have always been wankers when it comes to ND.

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

It's hilarious to see the Indinia fans here STILL begging for our approval. They keep bumping a thread on a PURDUE forum clamoring for our acceptance.

At this point it's reached such a sad state, all you can laugh at their desperation (well .. even more than we already do).
Undoubtedly the single best post in this long thread.

"Finding those guys in the portal that have those winning qualities."

We’ve been sayin that since last year 😂
Not sure I've ever seen a scorer (here) that is so up and down on FT's. ok, mostly down-ish. But several times this season he's looked Good shooting it and I've relaxed and thought great he's figured it out and then a game later he looks dyslexic shooting it. His arm movements get stiff and elongated when he's off, and how much wrist flick is inconsistant. Just looks discombobulated. ???

SMITH IS THAT GUY

Have you guy's seen Video of Maddox Smith a 7th grader may shatter his brother's records. Dustin Smith put on twitter. He is a younger Braden clone. Someone should put them on this thread. I honestly would offer him today. Not much needed to improve on from now or until 2030. Kid is a stud and could probably start for 95% of the high school programs in Indiana now and be a star.
His shooting form reminds me of Braden's.

Defense

Although the competition hasn’t been the best, the team has quietly improved seemingly a good amount on defense.

Furst has been the catalyst for the most part but the entire team seems to be playing with much more energy and locked in on the defensive end. Can this be a lesson learned during games like Auburn and Alabama? I believe both games have had an effect.

The question is can the team continue playing this way when the competition ramps up?
That's why he schedules those.

CB Brown looks like a good one.

I like that this coach is stocking up with depth at guys capable of starting instead of spending big on one year sure fire starters. Let them compete in the spring. As for brown, right now he’s probably not a starter in our depth chart but will certainly have a chance to get there and contribute. I think Breedlove, Grimes, and Smiley Bradford are your current starters. They have starting experience as well. but expect Brown, Turner, and Hines will have a chance to change that.

Also some may switch to safety, and some safeties may have a chance to play LB. We had guys out of position last year for sure and while I expect we will have 4+ at LB to be very good at essentially 2 positions we don’t have as much depth there.

At free safety look for Ty Hudkins and Luke Williams to duke it out along with portal transfer, maybe someone like toney or wakely slides over. I also think this is where Bradford can do well if needed.

At strong safety, we have some depth with Tahj Ra-El, Crew Wakely, and Richard Toney to compete. Good options there.

Bottom line is we now have 11 DBs capable of starting. Maybe more.

Defense

It seems Caleb is playing with more confidence, since returning to the starting lineup and getting increased and important minutes. We can only hope this continues through the remaining schedule and tournaments.
Caleb has led the team in plus-minus 3 of the last 4 games. Seems like he is the catalyst for a good team effort

IU did not deserve to be in CFP. Great article by USA Today

As stated elsewhere, any once-beaten team from the Big Ten certainly belongs in the nation’s top eight, despite outcry by fans whose own team answered 66 points with 67 yards. We have zero room to talk this year, although we can always point to all the P’s on the Bucket chain and note there’s a lot more where those came from, 77-43-6 in all. Talk about a blowout. Plus, it’s fitting to yank the chain of any supporter of the losingest program in NCAA history whose schedule boasted the two all-time worst programs by percentage. That’s downright smelly.
Probably the single best post in this long thread.

I come to bury the playoffs, not to praise them

From a Purdue perspective, I'd like it to go to at least 16 teams with games at neutral sites.. As a poster above mentioned it will help spread the talent out more. Also as a Purdue fan, getting into a 16 team field vs an 8 team field is obviously an easier task, especially if you're starting the season unranked.
Purdue had only finished #16 or higher in the final AP poll twice in the last 50 years.

Do you know how many times we’ve won since the turn of the millennium? Three.
And the number of wins in the 15 years before that? Two.

40 years.
5 wins.

It’s long past time to get them off of our schedule…
I think Joe tiller was 5-6 against them. It’s been crappy since then but we did have 3 losses that were within a score that were fun and some they were closer than their score shows. Most of those games were in seasons that were duds so it’s hard to look back at just the ND game and be upset. This is the first year I remember strong opposition to having them on our schedule and I feel like a lot of that is reactionary to IU and their schedule. I like the schedule where we do ND every year alternating away games when we have the extra home big ten games and then “buying” two home games. That ensures 7 home games every year and 2 warmups.

I wouldn’t have minded not playing Oregon state this year, Syracuse in past years, Virginia tech, etc.
