ball Time will tell, but I believe that Ballo and Rice are far better than “okay,” both as both players and high quality kids.

Ballo is a step back from Ware. Ware could shoot, hit a 3 now and then, rebounder, and could actually hit a free throw. Ballo is a rebounder, not a shooter, don't even talk about free throws! IU has no depth up front at all! Rice is good, but you have to remember the PAC12 was really weak, remove Arizonia and the conference disappears!

Who signs with Purdue this fall?

It’s more about defense than it is about skills, at least as I see it. I haven’t seen enough of Burgess to know about his lateral quickness, but he’s big enough to match well with most big men.
I’m not sure I follow your point. I agree that he is big enough to be able to guard the five and would need to be quick enough to guard fours. So defense is certainly an important factor.

My point was that in addition to being able to guard a four. At a minimum you need to be able to shoot, which reports would indicate that RB can do. IMO, a true stretch for also has guard like passing and ball handling skills like a Robbie and Vince. That doesn’t seem to be RM’s MO, which is fine.

I like Rice as a player and he's a great story. If I'm IU his three-point shooting concerns me but his assist-to-turnover ratio was solid and his efficiency from two was good. He's obviously pretty old for a sophomore so I'm not sure that I'd expect the typical freshman to sophomore jump from him, but he should be solid and a clear upgrade for IU.

Ballo will be interesting. He's not really a guy who creates for himself, I'm not sure who on this roster creates for him (maybe Rice?) and I'm not sure how well he compliments Mgbako and Reneau. He certainly adds additional size and rebounding, he'll perhaps fit better than I think.

I've said this here before, I think IU is the clear favorite to win the Big Ten, but overall team shooting and how guys like Ballo fit in will be the difference between a top-four conference finish + second-weekend team and one that wins the conference and is a factor nationally.

IMO

I know football is king but Purdue basketball has kept big ten basketball relevant. We also prop up their academics and have strong rivalries. Not going to get kicked out. Only way we get cast aside is if everyone leaves like what happened to Oregon state and wazzou. Q
So we get left with Michigan state, minnesota, Illinois, northwestern, iu maryland, Rutgers probably Wisconsin and Iowa. The super league would be football only? Not the worst thing. Can pac 10 go back to some pac ten teams and have traditional rose bowl ill take that

Trump Tariffs.....good or bad?

Generally Tariffs are a "tax" on goods. Can be bad as Harris inflation "tax", but not quite.

But not what Trump is talking about.

As I understand Trump's Tariffs he wants Tariffs on specific, targeted incoming items ONLY where America makes the product & makes a plethora of it well. An example would be foreign cars. Another example would be John Deere moving business to Mexico where he wants them to stay here. In other words if America makes the product well, he wants American companies to compete on an even field.

It should be noted that if American companies want to sell cars in most other countries, the other country charges a Tariff. So T's specific, targeted Tarrifs seem more fair and good for America & American companies & workers.

What wouldn't be good for anyone if Trump charges Tariffs on say Chinese production where we do not have the same product being produced here. Haven't heard of him wanting to do that, but as much as he hates China, certainly is a possibility. That would be terrible.

Broad reaching tariffs cause trade wars and are bad for everyone.....whereas there is less chance with specific targeted Tariffs.

Bottom line......huge difference between specific targeted Tariffs VS. broad ranging Tariffs. The former reasonable people should understand & be ok with.......the latter be 100% against.
Trump tariffs are great because that means he defeated Comrade Kammi and her tampon boy.

Agree here. Will not get tossed out of the BIG but would almost assuredly get left out of a football super league if that ever formed outside the confines of conferences.

Options for new coach

The Superstar who’s never coached coming back to his Alma mater… not a great track record…
He’d never do it but I’d take him as OC in an absolute heartbeat.

If he could assemble a staff of proven ex NFL guys…I could be down with him being HC. Couldn’t be worse than the current guy and you know he’d have some solid connections to nab an OC who actually knows what he’s doing.

How do you even fix this offense?

They say in gambling, you should never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Obviously the Purdue AD never heard of that phrase. He paid Hazell way too much money to be a head coach after 1 good season. He paid Brohm too much money on his extension. When he first threatened to leave for Louisville .

And now Purdue will keep Walters for another year because they can’t afford to pay him the $9 million buyout And hire another coach.

Think about it. If Purdue buys out Walters, they will have to spend $9 million for the buyout plus another $8-10 million for another head coach. No way can Purdue afford to spend $17-20 million just for a head coach next year.

Like gambling, Purdue should have never given Walters the contract they gave him if they couldn’t afford to buy him out. They should have started out giving their head coach $3-5 million And then increase his salary based on His performance/success.

Admittedly no big name coach would have accepted an offer of only $3-5 million. But the reality is somebody would have. Hope was getting paid less than $1 million. I have to believe. There’s a coach somewhere out there who would have come cheap.

Two guys I would have tried to hire. Are Coach kill. And Tommy Bowden. They both enjoyed success at the division 1 level and both would have signed for half of what Purdue shelled out for Walters!

Why spend your money on a Lexus, when a Camry will get the job done at half the price!!! And a Camry is still better than 75% of the competition!
Walters would be owed $3 million next year if he’s fired, not $9 million.

Options for new coach

I would roll the dice if Drew Bees was on the shortlist. He could probably do great in recruiting, seems to be a great leader and must know offense strategies better than most. Would love for him to have 10 years of HC experience first, but I don't want to wait that long. Will probably never happen but it sure would be nice to have some excitement around Purdue football again. Would be great to get a Purdue guy as our coach as well. As much as I liked Brohm through the years, you always knew it was only a matter of time before he bolted to Louisville.

OT - Sounds like Brohm pulled a Brohm today…

I was listening to the ND radio broadcast for the 4th quarter today and they were amazed at how poorly Brohm was handling things. At one point, they commented “This has got to be the 7th decision by Jeff Brohm this game that just makes you scratch your head”. It seemed …oddly familiar… 🤷‍♂️
At least he was in a position where there were decisions to be made, other than “hey should we keep our starters in now that we’re down by 50 ?”

Take it with a grain of salt it’s the ND radio announcers. They are the biggest homers. I only watched a little and he seemed less engaged than he usually is.
