IU’s strength of schedule will work against them so if they get in they would be #12.
I do like the "special features" chick, Milli Vanilli or Anna Fofanna or something.Crikey, I wonder if we will get the announcer from England with Australian accent again?
Doesn’t rebound, doesn’t defend, doesn’t play physically. If you could take his physical attributes and turn him into a completely different player I agree. Then whatever it would have taken. He fills the exact hole we have, another athletic big that can get rebounds, play inside or out, and let us play defensively against teams with multiple athletic big men.
Once we lost Jacobsen, we lost the ability to do that very well. Furst and Berg aren't the answer for that.
It's a moot point obviously, but he's just the type of player to fill that hole. I'm pretty sure Painter would have figured out a way to use a guy like that.
Crazy to assume he would have been a cultural fit.Exactly. His last year stats at Illinois were 12 pts, 37 percent from three, 6 boards a game, 3 assists. Is he a star? Of course not. Is that way better than what you are going to get from any healthy big on the current roster not named TKR right now? Absolutely.
Obviously I have no idea if he's have been a cultural fit. But assuming he would have, I don't see how this staff doesn't turn him into an upgrade over what we have healthy right now.
None of this is an attack on Painter. It's a hypothetical question of who would have helped IF we had used the portal. Obviously, we didn't use it and at the time, they hadn't changed the rules so we couldn't use it because we were capped. But yeah, he would have helped. I don't see how that's in question.
He’s never even been a good rebounder. Kid is 6’10, wants to be a guard and isn’t an efficient shooter or scorer. Doesn’t want t to get pay interior defense or rebound.Just add the athleticism on defense and maybe some scoring from the 4/5 spot. I’d say he’d be a nice fill in next to TKR. But I guess he wasn’t known as a dominant rebounder.
Dafuq? In the past, Painter has been very public about who he was recruiting in the portal or as a grad transfer.
We all knew Painter was recruiting the guard from Michigan who came to Purdue.
When Carsen Edwards came to Purdue, we all knew he was zpainter’s third choice and we knew who the other two were. When Edey came to Purdue, we all knew he was Psinter’s third choice and we knew who the other two were - Fickenson and the guy who went to Creighton.
When Jones came to Purdue, we all knew Painter was recruiting both players from SIU and the player who went to Illinois was actually Painter’s first choice of the two players.
All of this is factual in press conferences. Painter has never tried to hide who he was recruiting.
So to answer your question. Just ask what player who was in the portal was Painter actively recruiting last year? If you follow Purdue basketball, you would know Cox was another one of those players that was not on Painter’s original radar. Much like Carsen Edwards, painter was recruiting some one else . Painter was watching that other player, and saw that Cox outplayed him, so he signed Cox.
So Cox is basically the answer to your question. The player that Painter was recruiting at that game, went elsewhere . And Painter obviously liked Cox better than any portal player he was recruiting. Painter was looking at the portal for another shooting guard. And he choose Cox over who he was recruiting in the portal.
Wasn’t Painter also recruiting the player from Wisconsin that ended up going to Kansas? I believe if Painter really wanted him, Purdue could have found the NIL money he was asking for.
I’m beginning to believe Purdue basketball is a lot like Major League Baseball and free agents. The money is available, but Purdue doesn't want to pay a portal player more than their current starters receive. Purdue doesn’t overpay for anybody.
I think Walters is staying unless there is a major overhaul with bobinski going out as well, but…Highly unlikely that we keep the Bucket game within 4 TDs, but wondering what everyone thinks.
Would you rather beat IU and risk that Walters would stay on for another year? It is possible that a loss to us could also keep IU out of the CFP. With our record, it should remove them from consideration with the strength of their schedule.
If we would upset IU, I could see Bobinski giving Walters consideration for another year, because we might be turning the corner in his logic. Of course, we know that would make next year a complete lost year and set our program back 2 to 3 years minimum.
So, beat IU and Walters stays or get beat by IU and Walters is gone?
It is. Had a meh year.what is it like his 6th yr?
Exactly. His last year stats at Illinois were 12 pts, 37 percent from three, 6 boards a game, 3 assists. Is he a star? Of course not. Man? Woman? Either way, that's one fugly it.Here is the thing I don't think I got through. Whether they are or are not, there was no proclamation that someone was picked outside of the best choice and chosen as a result of DEI. You may, and others may have different perspectives on who was the best, but nobody has a reason to suggest that DEI was in play since it was never a consideration. THAT is a huge problem! When identity politics are a priority not only as a major platform of the democratic party, but when prefigured prior to an appointment of course DEI is a thought held by many. Had identity politics not been in play and had there not been a public statement with preference to identity politics, then most would not have DEI enter their minds. I don't recall Condi with her accomplishments being considered a DEI.
Now relative to the three you listed. I don't have the insight and relative background to know who was best to address the major mandates the public wanted as a result of the overwhelming percent of people that wanted a few things having a major change like the border, economy, crime and the threat of all chaos in all the wars, and other countries that might explode as well since the USA has no leadership.
Hegseth apparently has a good academic background and actual experience in war and military in general as well as his distinguished service. He might not be the best, but who is then? I don't know.
Most of the country realized the politicization of the DOJ, FBI and CIA used against Trump and other conservative causes...even going back to Obama in targeting with the IRS conservatives. Gaetz would be a bulldog to clean up THAT mess as well. However, it is possible that Trump put him out there as a lightening rod from the libs figuring what happened would and now has Bondi that could be just as tough and will fly through since the dems already shot their wad and Trump had to submit another. Course Gaetz could serve with Bondi and not need approval.
Kennedy , that in spite of the anti-vax stance on many things has always been interested in health as well as wanting to see the files on the deaths of Bobby and John...which now that the country has seen first hand the lying and unethical activities of the FBI and such no doubt has rekindled the desire to know more of what was not to be released until we that were alive at the time are dead. We have a major health problem in this country and the food industry and its lobbyists are culprits. Of course there are others that others would prefer...that is always the case...but there is NONE that would compare to the disasters Biden appointed relative to DEI...and Trannies in particular. Could Kennedy be nearly as bad as this?
It's easy to get confused when you're talking about a winning football team on the Purdue board.Wrong board we’re here to talk about Purdue basketball!
Ace is good but I don’t think the supporting cast can help beat us.Dad watched them. Told me that will be a loss for us. Ace will go nuts on us, he said....might be best 2 way guard in conference. He's right sometimes, as he's been watching Purdue basketball since TV was invented, now 90. Tough place to start for Purdue however it comes out.
And probably should add relative to Brohm, as several others have noted in other threads, that there did not seem to be any sort of succession plan in place for what was seen by everyone as Brohm’s eventual move to Louisville. In the medical profession that would be considered malpractice. He allowed women’s basketball to go further down the tubes and waited far too long to take action there. And basically his hand was forced given some of the behaviors that were occurring with the coaching staff.
Not very impressed yet with Coach Gearlds and the women’s basketball team. Perhaps the jury is still out, but recruiting doesn’t seem to be where it needs to be for the program to return to its glory days.
Still in wait-and-see mode relative to baseball, softball, soccer. But nothing stellar there yet.
I am hopeful for wrestling, but we seem to have regressed a bit there which could be a natural flow of teams.
Lost a very good head track coach.
Probably others if I would actually do a bit more research, but these are top of mind.

Otherwise, what sports are you talking about?
So playing the bad we did why didn't we play better against themFor all of you that love the strength of schedule and say that it actually matters, I’ll pose a question.
What if Walter’s and BoBo realized how tough the Purdue schedule was this year. And they use it as an excuse to bring back Walters. For another year? As it stands now, Iowa and Illinois will probably both end up in the top 25. Purdue’s schedule could end up as being the toughest in the NCAA this year. And maybe even the toughest ever.
And we almost won 4 games. As Walters would say……… We were so close.
Of course Painter was here, but he hired Brohm, which was a very good hire. Otherwise, what sports are you talking about?
