Villanova (#5) v. Purdue (#6) (Hall-of-Fame Tip Off) Game Thread

I guess the defensive philosophy is don't fight through screens or switch on them, just both stand there and make everyone else scramble until there's an open three?

We definitely need to shore this defense up. No reason that we should lose these 3 point shooters. That guard needs to get out and force the pass.

Purdue has a lot of work to do on D. Switching D isn't working so hot right now...
They should not even be switching in most cases...

Perimeter defense is just poor...individually, and, collectively

Guys need to be better in both regards...until they are...against quality backcourts...Purdue will struggle...more so without a rim protector on the back end.

Why is Furst not in either...guy was helping a ton on the boards and just in general...not as if Purdue is spreading the floor to shoot 3's...especially in struggling to hit any

this is a spread it out guard era of basketball and we continue to not play that way

per usual, the 5 out constant high ball screens are killing our bigs, and we refuse to play zone to atleast neutralize that some what

pounding into bigs is an inefficient way of playing in today's games, usually leads to higher amounts of turnovers and much more contested shots

it works great vs a lot of teams, but not vs the elite teams

oh well. Also if we dont get something out of the point guard position this year, we wont reach our potential

when they finally miss can't get a rebound
