Shit Happens people! We played our ass off the 1st half and had it to a 2pt game at 53-51 in the 2nd. Yes it sucks that KU couldn't miss a damn shot but it also helps playing in front of a home crowd pretty much... not easy to do when you get down.
Great season...better years to come!

today at the 6 oclock people hate getting their asses beat on national tv.

I forgot it was actually that close in the second half. Seemed worse. I guess our shots just stopped falling and unless we were shooting great we weren't going to have a chance.

You have to take the negative posts with a grain of salt. Most of the people making those posts only come around after a loss or on new accounts from other schools to troll us because their school got bounced in the NIT.

It doesn't seem like it now, but I agree that there potentially could be better years ahead. It will depend on the work the returning players do in the offseason and the development or impact of the new recruits, but the potential is there.

One thing that sticks out to me as a rather huge advantage, Haarms being here early and getting to practice against Biggie and be ahead of the learning curve. If his away from the rim shooting is as good as advertised, then that changes things up dramatically for us right out of the gate.

LOL BBG used to do nothing but talk trash on the anything goes bored, but he's apparently found internet Jesus (ie Kesslemeide forces him to do stuff)

What a shame, BBG was a funny dude back in the day. It's like a Purdue version of IU's very own Jim Jones got a hold of him and about five or so other posters we all know and have to be ridiculous instead of just being allowed to have sometimes heated but always constructive discourse.

You're right I used to be a trollish poster but have long found it's wasted time. And so what? You go spend some time deployed with our troops overseas and see what that does to your perspective of things.

Regardless, you can troll post all you want as I truly couldn't care any less. One day maybe you will learn that even better discussions come about when you are such a dickhead.

And how on earth could you tie me to Kessel? For one he's been on my ignore list for some time now (like you will be after this) and if anyone acts like him, taking a look at some of your recent posts, it's you.

Have a good one.

I been saying this on this board for awhile. A majority of Posters on here see everything with a Black and Gold lens. I know it's a Purdue board but a lil reality would be nice. NO Purdue's BBall program support is not on IU's level. I am talking about fan base, money, enthusiasm etc... Yet Purdue has had as much of success as Painter did compared to Crean. I live in Indianapolis. Indy is Butler and IU territory. Purdue doesn't get alot of support in the state's biggest most important city compared to the other 2 schools. That's fine. It won't change even if Purdue won a championship. It would be much sweeter if it did happen.

Matt Painter runs a clean program compared to a majority of Div 1 programs. Look at 2 elite programs such as Louisville and North Carolina. Both schools got into some slimy NCAA messes... Yet because of who they are and the money involved they will end up with slaps on the wrist.

Some posters on here have written about Painter's body of work over 12 years pointing out now ONLY 3 sweet 16's, a shared Big 10 title, a Big Tournament win and an outright Big 10 title. OK well lets go a lil deeper and look at what I consider success.

Painter has been at Purdue now 12 seasons. Disregarding an inherited Keady team his 1st year. In Painter's last 11 seasons Purdue has made the NCAA Tournament 9 times a success rate of 82%. His overall record in the tourney is 10-9. A Winning record. I consider the tourney a chance to win like a lottery ticket. Once you are part of the 64 teams you have had a successful season and it's all gravy and fun to root for Purdue in the tournament.

Purdue will have a good team next year with or without Swanigan. If you want to bash Painter you will have a chance as his roster will have a great deal of change after the Seniors leave in 2018. I predict whatever the roster looks like in 2018-2019. Carsen Edwards will be the star of the team.

BTW you want to compare Painter to certain programs? Compare Painter to Minnesota or Illinois. Two Programs who have had success in the past. How does Painter's overall record look like compared to those 2 programs? I agree with Illinois new coach. No way Illinois should not be where it is considering it is the State's NAME school and the talent in Illinois.

with the expanded field, the big ten has been averaging 7 tourney bids per year. averages 6 bids over the last twenty years.
that is getting close to comparable to football and becoming bowl eligible (where the big ten has been getting between 7-10 bids in the ever expanding bowl season).

i had not thought about qualifying for the tourney itself as a primary benchmark.
if we keep painter's pay relatively unchanged & around mid pack in conference, i suppose that equates fairly well
(at least we're not paying $4M for archie)

Big Ten only lacks a dominant team by modern standards. SEC has Kentucky. ACC had Duke and UNC. PAC has UCLA. BE has Ucon and Villa. Big12 has Kansas. Big Ten???? Good teams but not the same. That has as much to do w/ seeding as it does having one or 2 more players strong.

Great season...better years to come!

I think the reactions are what they are because many of us have that watched closely and consistently have seen enough of Painter's coaching over the past 12 years to come to an educated conclusion that he and his staff(s) are extremely unlikely to take the program any further in the NCAA Tournament than they've already been prior to the start of his tenure.

Even with all of the best players, I'm not sure that his overall coaching and style and in-game coaching would lead to more success in the NCAA's.

Do we want to maintain a clean program? Getting to a final 4 is an achievement for sure, but winning it all seems to come with a level of getting dirty if you look at the national champs during Painter's 12 year history. I've never read any hint of Villanova being dirty, but Cal at UK has run from violations at his stops prior to UK. Some folks say Self is dirty at KU. Then you have UConn, UL, UNC, and Duke. Syracuse a little before Painter's time at Purdue. Can you consistently get to the final 4 without getting dirty?

See your first problem is you think you are even remotely qualified to make that sort of judgement. Your basing that entire notion on something you don't even fully understand yourself and have been consistently 'wrong' about through this season alone.

Let's look at your constant crying about zone, well Butler ran one against UNC's man-to-man and they lost and UNC had little trouble with it. So proof is right there that zone is not the almighty answer you think it is and that is just one example of many. I could list everything that was said in regards to Painter never being able to get a 5 star player, then he will never win the B1G this year and then he'll never make it out of the first round, etc., etc. But that too has been done enough this season so I won't bother.

I know you'll continue to spout your nonsense on here as will the others and that is okay. Just know that based on everything we read from you, you and your ilk have a massive amount of egg on your faces and can't and won't be taken seriously ever again.
