Purdue didn't play well. We shot poorly (41% overall and 30% from three), Swanigan, Edwards and Davis combined to shoot 3-16 and had 8 turnovers against just 2 assists.

And Purdue beat a likely NCAA tournament team by 22 (and was up 26 until benches were cleared).

Yeah, we're pretty good.

Yep, announcer said "Elite Eight" level/caliber several times. Get to the Elite Eight and then it's just an "any given night" scenario to the Big Dance. Boiler up!

Depth of this team is exceptional. Someone is having a bad game get somebody else in, love it!

Stephens hit 3 straight 3's in a scenario that was perfectly set up to deter efficient outside shooting. He shows flashes of being something...different...something greater than...

And then he finally does what he should be doing a lot more of, cut to the basket, gets a great feed, and blows the dunk.

I have had season bball tickets since 2009. This is the best Purdue offense I have watched in person. The ball movement is outstanding. There is a clear direction to the offense and that is to get the ball inside. When teams collapse inside, we can shoot 3's and are in good position to get offensive rebounds. We have so many more weapons than the Hummel/Moore/Johnson teams. We can go inside and outside and completely dominate. I think today was a good warm up game for those Northwestern/Penn State garbage style games in an empty arena. Be excited, friends, I think this team is the real deal.

You guys realize ODU isn't very good, right?

Ummmm......they're around 60th in the rankings (ahead of Michigan and Ohio State), Purdue was favored by 9, and yet was up by 26 until the bench cleared.

You do realize that, right?

From ESPN's preview:

Old Dominion Monarchs

It would be tempting to give this nod to the team that knocked off Iowa State (and brought home some sweet, sweet tourney-share money), and UAB -- young, tourney-tested, and still far from the top of its trajectory -- isn't far off.

Really, though, the best team for almost all of the 2014-15 season was Old Dominion. The Monarchs toppled VCU, LSU and Richmond in the nonconference and eventually went to the NIT semifinals; they simply lost the wrong games (Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, UTEP) at the wrong times (Middle Tennessee again, this time in the league tournament). Reigning C-USA Player of the Year Trey Freeman leads a mostly intact, experienced group that knows better than most how much every game matters.

ESPN has some geniuses working for them if they thought ODU should be favored...yikes.

LOL...."nearly double digit favorite."

Yes, 9 is a SINGLE digit, and NEARLY a double digit. Good spotting!

Yet Purdue was up 26 until garbage time. Let me help you out: 26 is NEARLY three times 9.

Purdue played poorly, yet still won by NEARLY three times the point spread. That's why KenPom has Purdue ranked as the #1 team in the Big Ten.

Take it easy, gents. We'll know soon enough how good both teams really are.

Purdue did a nice job maintaining control in a game where the fellas really didn't shoot that well, Kendall and AJ excepted.

But let's not read too much into it. There are 30 games left this season.

And it's why Kenpom has ODU around 90. I'm sure they brought their A game though.

Also, I never said PU wasn't good. In fact, I think they're a very well balanced team and will be tough for anyone to beat.

Simply saying the fact that you beat ODU doesn't make you scary.

The OP clearly pointed out that three of our starters had bad games with more turnovers then assists or points.
The scary part is what would happen had they had normal games.
Very deep team with lots of options a a size. When all cylinders are firing. Could indeed be scary.

I think it means they are the favorite to win their conference, not today's game. Which when you think about it, makes the win more impressive today.

LOL.....you conveniently ignore the fact that the KenPom rating has already been updated with today's loss.

Let me spell it out for you: Ole D was rated much higher but dropped to 90 AFTER losing to Purdue, because Purdue beat them soundly, despite having a bad game.

You'll note that Sagarin has Ole D ranked 63rd. Higher than Ohio State and Michigan, and yet Purdue won by 20+.

No comment on Purdue being the #1 ranked Big Ten team by KenPom? Huh. Color me surprised.

So losing one game to a top 20 team dropped them 30-40 spots in Kenpom...ummm no. Also if you read my post above, I think PU is a good team. I've got no issue with them being rated no.1.

Good yes. Scary, no.

Oh, sorry, obviously this is my fault. You must want the IU board, not the Purdue board.

It's IU who played a comparable team to Ole D (Creighton, No. 82).

And IU played at home, whereas Purdue played away.

And yet IU only scored 1.2 points for every point their opponent scored. Purdue scored 1.6 points for every point their opponent scored.

And yet IU fans (and their announcer Fischer) are crowing about how good (!!!!) IU looked.

Whereas Purdue fans are saying their team didn't play that well.

Soooo.....IU played a comparable team, at home, scored less per point that Purdue, and yet is ecstatic over their teams play.....yet you're here on this board whining like a four year-old girl.

You MUST mean the IU board....otherwise you're just a clueless hypocrite.

Good luck IU bball idiots we score at will in the paint against your stifling D. Amazing that IU fans don't know anything about bball other than their own team.

You just spouted out a bunch of garbage that I never came remotely close to saying. You might want to seek help.

This post also implies that you believe ODU played their best game, which clearly you couldn't know. I'd say with shooting numbers as poor as you'll see all year, this wasn't their best game.

One final point to your incoherent post. Being "nearly" a double digit favorite means that according to Vegas, PU was the prohibitive favorite. In other words, it wasn't expected to be close. Thought you could have gathered that....

I'm not user how you are missing the fact that even though Purdue was favored by three possessions. Three of the five starters produced basically zilch. Yet Purdue still won by more then double what they were favored by.

Take three starters out of your lineup and see what you get. Probably a huge loss against anybody.

Well said. Sadly your astute point is lost on him. He just doesn't seem capable enough to comprehend logical thought.

Wow--We've come quite a ways from your original assertion in this thread that ODU "isn't very good" haven't we???

You can get away with being stupid and ill-informed on Peegs, but please don't expect your backpeadaling nonsense to be taken seriously here....

I'm sure that your name is some form of "Hillbilly", yes?

Your reading comprehension is nil. You seem to be complaining that Purdue fans shouldn't be so happy to beat a bad team, when all they are saying is that Purdue DIDN'T play that well. If you want to complain about those things, shouldn't you be on the IU board, or are you a hypocrite (don't answer - we already know that).

IU played a comparable team, at home, did worse against that team, and their fans are ecstatic! Why aren't you whining at them? Don Fisher was even on sports-talk radio crowing (!) about how good IU was! Where are your e-mails chiding him? Where are you IU board posts whining and crying? Why aren't you telling them how badly they played against a bad team?

LOL...just kidding, of course. We all know it's because you're an IU fan, Only a Loosier IU fan would spend all weekend to create a new name and post on a rival's board. No friends, no family, no loved ones to spend the weekend with; so sad. What kind of loser (other than an IU Loosier) would repeatedly post at ONE IN THE MORNING on a rivals board? You are embarrassing your fellow IU fans by exposing your pathetic lack of a life.

I'm sorry that your life is so pathetic that you have to go spend your lonely nights in front of the cold glare of of your computer, and that when you look in the mirror you see a loser.

FYI, Purdue is the #1 Big Ten team in both Sagarin and KenPom. Damn their fans for being happy!!!! LOL.

No not really. Nothing has changed the fact that ODU isn't very good. Nothing I've said has changed...
