What does he bring that Heide doesn’t? We should be clamoring for more Heide minutes.

Such a strange take. Over the last few weeks when Purdue has “struggled”, Purdue is still top 5 offensively but outside the top 80 defensively. So your plan is to take the best of the 4 defenders off the floor and put the worst of the defenders on it?They should both play more. This doesn’t have to be a mutually exclusive thing.
Less Loyer and Morton, more Heide and Colvin.
You act like Morton is the lynchpin of the defense. You act like he’s Kramer. Please. The lack of any threat on offense, more often than not, nearly negates any defensive impact he has.Such a strange take. Yes Heide takes Loyer’s minutes if he’s off
I want Purdue to fix it‘s biggest shortcomings. You act like Morton is the lynchpin of the defense. You act like he’s Kramer. Please. The lack of any threat on offense, more often than not, nearly negates any defensive impact he has.
You wanna lose in the first or second round again, or do you want a chance at a final four?
Its biggest shortcomings are becoming predictable and losing organic flow on offense. Morton only makes that worse. Morton on the floor only makes it easier for the defense to key on Edey, which also hurts every other player on the floor as they play tight and play with zero rhythm.I want Purdue to fix it‘s biggest shortcomings.

Statistics vehemently disagree with you but I’m sure you know best. 🤪Its biggest shortcomings are becoming predictable and losing organic flow on offense. Morton only makes that worse. Morton is fine as a situational player, but you don’t get to a final four with Ethan Morton playing more than 8-10 minutes per game. You just don’t.
Not sure if Loyer is tired, has some nagging injuries we don't know about or just in a slump. No matter the case, he isn't producing right now. Not sure why you continue to give him major minutes. I'm fine if he starts, but play the guys that are producing.
Hey, let me know the next time a team with the likes of Morton and Loyer playing significant minutes makes a deep run in March.Statistics vehemently disagree with you but I’m sure you know best. 🤪

I feel like you’re just guessing here. How exactly do you define “the likes of Morton and Loyer”? Are you saying no team has ever gone far in March with a defensive specialist that comes in for 10-15 minutes? No team has ever gone far with a spot up shooter? Provide some parameters, and I guarantee there are plenty of teams that went far in March with guys like Loyer and Morton on the team.Hey, let me know the next time a team with the likes of Morton and Loyer playing significant minutes makes a deep run in March.
Again, if you’re content with racking up a bunch of regular season conference wins, by all means, keep playing Morton.
We’ve seen the types of teams that go far in March. It ain’t a team with Morton on the court.
Hopefully CMP lets his better talent play before it’s too late! Would hate for him to be another example of this:
What kind of sense of self-importance do you have to have to think Painter should follow the advice of some anonymous poster on a message board who has not once seen these players practice? And to repeat it over and over again with a very limited amount of information -- who is really the stubborn one?Painter has his “my boy “ blinders on with Loyer and will die or live with him. His stubbornness has been his number one Achilles heal and though he says he’s learned a lesson it doesn’t look like he has
I wonder if people saying these things are the same people who were saying them about Carsen Edwards before he broke out in the NCAA tournament. Purdue needs Loyer in the NCAA tournament. If he's in a slump, he needs to play his way out of it. Period. Not sure if Loyer is tired, has some nagging injuries we don't know about or just in a slump. No matter the case, he isn't producing right now. Not sure why you continue to give him major minutes. I'm fine if he starts, but play the guys that are producing.

Colvin played solid D last night. Kept my eyes on him when he was in. - Heide, Colvin both desreve more time, Loyer not as much.Colvin doesn't need to play because his defense is still awful but I hope tonight will force Painter's hand in giving Heide at least 15 or more minutes every night taking some of Loyer and Morton's minutes.
What he says publicly to back his player is one thing. What's going on in the locker room that we don't know about might be very different.Painter has his “my boy “ blinders on with Loyer and will die or live with him. His stubbornness has been his number one Achilles heal and though he says he’s learned a lesson it doesn’t look like he has
His on ball D is okay. It's his off ball D that is an issue. He struggles with rotations and proper hedges and that ends up putting other guys on an island when he's on the floor.Colvin played solid D last night. Kept my eyes on him when he was in. - Heide, Colvin both desreve more time, Loyer not as much.
Good post, Morton 4-5 minutes a half is fine. Heide earned more minutes, Fletcher is slumping, he still starts but his minutes need a little slashing. As for Colvin, next year will be his calling.Morton is fine in short stretches. 8-12 minutes a game. But I sure do not know how he saw the floor before Heide in H2 after the H1 show Heide put on.
I actually noticed Braden not looking to get the ball to Loyer and passing elsewhere when Loyer had potentially decent look last night. If you don’t believe this happened go back a rewatch the game. Could just be a one game thing but we’ll see going forward. Loyer also seems tentative to shootI get what Painter's saying to protect his player, but Loyer is also missing good open looks that he is getting. I'm also seeing Braden not even pass to him when Loyer has a decent look, which speaks volumes.
Loyer been "taken away"? Last I checked they aren't sending Edey's doubles out to Loyer. He's just flat out not hitting shots. Painter needs to stop with the excuses already.
Not only that. Can Colvin learn the motion offense in the off season? Can Colvin learn defense in the off season?
This is what I've been saying. Cam is stronger and almost as if not just as athletic... He plays with a certain smoothness and is under control. I really can't wait until be becomes more of a focal point to this team because his game is fun to watch. Cam still has some defensive deficiencies himself but nothing at all like Colvin... I really really like Colvin and want to see him become the next 1st round pick from Purdue. He has all the tools just really needs to figure out the defensive side...What does he bring that Heide doesn’t? We should be clamoring for more Heide minutes.
Agree - that's why he needs more PT. He'll get there. His on ball D is okay. It's his off ball D that is an issue. He struggles with rotations and proper hedges and that ends up putting other guys on an island when he's on the floor.
This. It's great to see the effort now. Earlier in the season he looked lost on his on ball D, too. He has made some real improvements. His on ball D is okay. It's his off ball D that is an issue. He struggles with rotations and proper hedges and that ends up putting other guys on an island when he's on the floor.
The argument that guys fix these things in games is a huge misnomer. The vast majority of improvement happens in practice.Agree - that's why he needs more PT. He'll get there.
I've coached enough teams to know how to use coach-up from game experience vs the same opponents in practice. Both Covin and Heide have gained plenty from actual game experience. They are ready. The argument that guys fix these things in games is a huge misnomer. The vast majority of improvement happens in practice.
Everyone has their "stats guy" they like the best. KenPom has us #2 adjusted O and #22 Adjusted D. Those are championship title contender numbers. Top 25 in both is where it's at.You should familiarize yourself with offensive and defensive Bayesian performance ratings. Evan Miyakawa can help.

Once again, someone willing to give up stellar defense for a kid that is no where ready to play. Myles had five points...Myles gave up five points because he can't "guard a stationary chair". Heide had a wonderful game on both ends of the court. They should both play more. This doesn’t have to be a mutually exclusive thing.
Less Loyer and Morton, more Heide and Colvin.
