Purdue v. Louisville Game Thread (Big Ten/ACC Challenge)

Hopefully that's as bad as it gets this year. That was brutal. I can't even drink that half away.

Purdue intimidated it looks like. Haas and Swanigan not aggressive at all. Still lucky to be in it; could easily be down 20.

Haas is playing so soft. I think he's intimidated.

What's wrong with Vince Edwards? He's almost playing like he doesn't care. Put in Basil.

this shows what i was afraid of in the preseason. we just are not a very good team. no defense no offense. lots of turnovers. better improve a lot before the big ten season

Not hard to understand this one. We recruit slow and unathletic. We are going to struggle in these match-ups.

The major issue is Purdue is afraid of Louisville's athleticism and isn't using their advantages they have. Purdue isn't using their size, outside shooting, and their rebounding to their advantage.

Our defense is reasonable. L'Ville hasn't scored all that many points. Our offense is terrible. When was the last time we put 20 points up in a half?

Intimidated by the length AND athleticism, tough combination. By I agree, while we may be outmatched athletically a big part of this is mental

I'm sorry but Painter was way off base in his comments going into the lockerroom. The struggles in the first half go way beyond missing some open three point shots.

As an IU fan that lives near Louisville, I can tell you this. I've seen UofL do this to many teams. He did it to us 2 years ago. This is what happens when an Elite coach goes up against the likes of Matt Painter or Tom Crean. It makes me wonder if IU/PU will ever find a guy like that. And "prostitute free", of course.

We should be able to find another way. But as we learned last year, if we don't hit shots, they can collapse on our bigs and shut them down.

This is why we need CE in there as much as possible. He's the only one capable of driving!

Issac Haas/Biggie/Vince

1 pt, 10 reb, 7 TOs

Forget the win, I just want to see these guys show some toughness and courage. Attack them!

Agreed with the intimidation assessment. There were at least a couple possessions where 2-3 passes in a row were bobbled. That's mental.

CE only guy on the perimeter that the defense respects off the dribble. He needs to be on the floor so D cannot pressure out. VE needs to get his head out of his ass on the bench.

Team had good rotation and movement on the first two possessions of the second half and led to 5 points. Since then the movement has been horrible again...and Purdue has struggled.

Same issues in most games where Purdue struggles against similar upper echelon programs. Purdue can afford this offensive output against lower level teams and struggle through (as we have seen this year many times). When Purdue faces a team like Lousiville, it can't.

The statement Bilas made about the other guys not being big enough to commit a foul on the body on Haas is what we are going do deal with all season long. The statement couldn't be more false.

Louisville is just one of those teams that slaps and grabs all game...........but the officials can't call all of the fouls......and they are hitting some timely shots to boot

Not too shocked by this..........when was the last time we won a big nonconf game on the road? I sure as hell can't remember......
