Hunter Johnson

Ahh so 4 games during the worst stretch ever of Purdue football. Congrats!

Hey .... NU can't measure up with anybody when you compare all time football W-L records. Maybe IU, but that's about it. On the other hand, what does Minny's several national championships do for them today? Are Boiler fans still basking in the glow of Keys and Phipps et. al? How has that made you feel better for the last 10 years when you were 1-6 vs the lowly Wildcats ... with an average margin of defeat of 20 points a game? That's a decade of dominant beat downs .... the real world as we have known it for the last 10 years. Not an aberration/fluke, but credibly representative of where these programs are today and have been for a while.

Whoever talks trash to an opponent who has owned you for a decade is an idiot. Just take your beating as NU fans did for 20+ years and get better. As we did.

BTW .... Brohm is the real deal. Excellent coach. Will return to Louisville first chance he has. Unless he takes another ACC or SEC job first. He understands how hard it is to consistently recruit to Purdue in the modern era of the game.

I don't even know where to start with this.

Unbelievable the number of NW fans ... flipping NW fans ... who trash other programs.

There's no evidence Brohm's going to bail for U/L. None. Other than he's an alum. That's just wishful thinking.

I've heard it told both ways, one side saying he isn't related and the other saying he's the nephew of Jake Plummer. Does anybody know which story is the truth?
No relationship. He has strong ties to Iowa, and his father still lives there.

If the UL job opens, Brohm will probably take it. That’s not exactly a secret in Louisville.

You don't know where to start because you don't deal well with facts you don't like.

Nobody is trashing Purdue. Except for EvanstonCat. And he gets a ton of grief from NU fans alike. You should expect some fact based push back from more reasonable NU fans when you refer to us as flipping NW fans. Not good form when you've been at the bottom of the two team (1-6) barrel looking up for a decade.

I personally hope Brohm stays at Purdue and succeeds. That would be great for the BIG and the overly maligned West Division. But everybody not engaged in wishful thinking knows it's only a matter of time before success takes him where he either wants to be or where he knows he will have institutional advantages not available at Purdue.

I feel like I need to jump in here and apologize on behalf of Northwestern fans (or maybe just Northwestern).

It's great to see NU fans showing a lot of passion, because Lord knows we have too few of those, but this is just out of control. The level of arrogance and trolling that a couple of the folks on our side have shown on this thread is embarrassing to me, personally.

As a massive fan of my alma mater's sports teams, I am ecstatic that we landed Hunter Johnson but I also have a lot of respect for Purdue. We all know that in college football, unless you are a traditional blue blood, the tide can turn quickly on a program. And I recognize that there are certain positions in which Purdue is much better positioned for the long-term compared to NU - or rather have more reason to be optimistic.

But in some ways, this is what we all signed up for right - when it comes to message boards? You get the worst of us. It doesn't make it any less wrong though.

Frankly, I come here to read the opinions of Purdue fans, not Northwestern fans. If I wanted to do the latter, I would've stayed on our forums.

So again, from me if not other northwestern fans - sorry.

Oh, now you're the arbiter of "facts".

You guys truly are @ssholes.

In the event you're "new" here, NW fans have been trashing Purdue. Deal with it or leave. I don't care.

Don't be an @ss, and you won't be treated as such.

You have no idea what motivates Brohm, yet you think you deal in "facts". No, it's guessing. Speculation.

Thank you.

I would never think of going to the Northwestern forum and posting the kind of (crap) we've seen here.

Thanks again for being a reasonable voice.

they're threatened.

And they d@mn well should be!

Brohm has found a home. A home where he can thrive. High academics standards. Highly ethical. A home where they can draw recruits.

It isn't looking good for them!

Thanks for the hearty laughs Purdue 85. So Purdue is a high academic recruiting heavyweight. And a destination job for successful football coaches.

I love shock humor. And you are a natural. Very sincere. Very shocking. Very funny.

Really?? I live in Louisville, and have dozens of UoL diehard fans as great friends. They aren't sure of anything RE Brohm.

They're pretty upset he went to PUR in the first place seeing as they are tiring of Petrino, and have no idea if he'll ever return. They know it was only 20 years ago they were playing football in the Freedom Hall parking lot.

If he leaves PUR in a great place, he isn't going to freakin scumfukk UoL. He'll go Blue-blood/top-tier.

Walk me through Purdue’s heightened admissions standards for football athletes, your illustrious on-field accomplishments, and why Brohm would choose Purdue over Louisville.

Scoreboard.

Not sure you understand what scoreboard actually means.

Trolling by other fanbases is a sign of flattery, my Boilermaker brethren. They can kick us when we're down, but damn it feels good to know we're at least in the hunt!

This time 3 years ago we wouldn't have been mentioned in the same breath as H. Johnson, let alone been one of the final 2/3 schools in the running. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Like, not even in the same solar system.

Future is bright, my friends. We have confidence, experience, and strength running the show. Given all NWs good success the past several seasons it makes sense that they'd get a nice player like H. Johnson to commit. Fitz is the class of B1G coaches, and has been for a long time.

We all good, bros. I'm going to enjoy the attention.

The flipping NU fans are on board with a team that’s pretty good. And there are quite a few more of us than you acknowledge. Good luck this year

The best way to settle this is on the field.

The biggest issue Purdue faces is not that Hunter is committed to Northwestern, but rather the dominoes effect . If Hunter had committed to Purdue, it would have been a feather in our cap and could have resulted in making it easier to attract other elite athletes at other positions. Without Hunter, it will be a harder sell for some elite athletes, while others like Bell may now want to take a wait and see approach before commiting. Purdue is going to have to prove itself on the field that last year was not an aberration.
