Speculation from Spartanwire.

It’s probably already curtains for Walters. BoBo just doesn’t want to hire someone as an intern head coach for 2 games. Firing Walters now isn’t going to make a difference in the IU game.

Face it. A new coach hired after a loss at MSU isn’t going to make a difference against IU. Having an assistant coach take over for one game isn’t going to make a difference either.

You might as well keep Walters for the remainder of the season
Disagree. This team has quit on Walters. Putting in an interim for the iu game might be the magic sauce to pull an epic upset and have Purdue piss in iu's playoff punch.

Speaking of how things change, I just hope I have a pulse by 2032. LOL ... and ... I remember similar feelings at Purdue when Brohm had major upset wins. Yet IMO there was always an elephant in the room .. Louisville. I not sure any amount of money Purdue offered or would offer to keep him would have made a difference. Based on personal experience growing up I know how much a family is a factor in coaches decisions on to move or stay. Brohm's family wanted to move back to Louisville from articles after the fact of accepting the UL job.

Yes a lot can change. Even with IU increasing the salary pool again for assistant coaches they will be a hot commodity after this season, if their agents are not already approached. As far as the schedule ... non conference was pathetic and just as bad next year. That is from a lifelong IU fan/grad. It's too bad they don't have any control over what the B1G teams they beat do in other games.

If IU looks good vs OSU and loses ... still in playoffs
If IU gets curb stomped at OSU (I don't think they will). .. possibly out of playoffs due to SOS
If IU wins and they could ... OSU might be out and Day might be looking for a new job

Not part of this thread but I have to say when I saw the background of Coach Walters I was having big Tom Allen flashbacks when hired as HC at IU. Very similar backgrounds in coach, not playing ... but IMO he wasn't going to get the job done.
What would be absolutely hilarious is if iu gets corn holed by OSU and then loses at home to Purdue. I can see them losing to OSU but I highly doubt they'd lose to Purdue. But God would that be funny.

James Franklin

I hope Cignetti does the same thing.
I have noticed in the those IU games where there is 2 minutes to go, big lead but gets a first down .. once that first down is made they will take a knee until the end of the game. Franklin did the same thing in their Washington win that they did to Purdue. Washington is my 2nd team since I lived out there for 10 years. So I listen to their Monday press conference. The UW was asked about it and he replied something to the affect of "no problem with it. I don't want to ever tell a coach how to coach his team nor would I want a coach telling me how to coach mine .. we needed to stop them and didn't." Still IMO Franklin has always been a dirtbag even when he was at Vandy.

Open letter to Bobinski

Is our performance this year really any different than the Hazell years? Maybe Brohm was an aberration from the norm. And Brohm could see the future that we were headed back to the norm. I have to ask, is there any coach out there that actually wants this job that could actually do any better? DOUBTFUL!!!!
It's the coach, not the job. if it weren't the coach, schools like FSU, ND, and Tex would never struggle.

How important is the Marquette game?

I did see Duke/KY played (tuned in to see Gillis) but generally I've not followed any of the other top 10 teams, are they also playing multiple ranked opponents?

I applaud Purdue's approach to home/home games with select teams that promotes strong competition, insight, and reward.
It is to be commended. After two or three years of getting curb stomped by highly ranked teams Mike Woodson decided enough was enough and went to more teams ranked over 300 to fill in his November schedule. This IU fan was not and is not happy about that.

My Weekly CBB Top 25

Agree that it’s pretty meaningless but it gives fans something to talk about.

We’ll find out tonight if Purdue is ranked too high. I think this team is legitimately top 15 at this point and is likely to continue to improve, but if they win on the road tonight they would show that they may be much better than that.
I don't think they are ranked too high, even if they lose tonight. Losing to a Top 20 Marquette on road isn't some awful loss unless it's a Gonzaga-Baylor result. I think Purdue fans are maybe trying to get used to having their point guard be the best player again after having Edey around. Smith isn't Carsen Edwards(from a scoring standpoint) but he can control a game enough to make Purdue a Top 10 team.

We will see what happens. Long ways to go to be projecting that. If things go well, other opportunities will come along for the top assistants. If things don't continue to go well, he might eventually be replaced or IU may not even want him when that time comes.

I know it's tempting to think the 10-0 start will project endlessly into the future but things have a way of changing fairly quickly. No bigger proof of that than IU football over the past year. Hell, much can change for the trajectory of the program, in either direction, in the next week alone. If they get beat at Ohio State the conversation will turn to their schedule and how they have no quality wins and if they deserve to be in over some really good SEC teams. If they win at Ohio State the talk will be if they are the new #1.

Democrats proposing a shadow government in clear sedition!

Sorry. State representatives. Lang of Ohio. Moore in Georgia. Maddock in Michigan.

Doesn't change the point. This isn't a movement because one democrat in the House spoke about it anymore than Alex Jones calling for civil war if trump lost. Actually Jones has a lot more influence.
I wasn't disputing your point.

How are you aware of these developments at state levels? What are your news sources in this regard?

Alabama has a murderer's row of a schedule. I don't hesitate to say it's more difficult than Purdue's (they did have to play in Mackey, after all)

Duke, Auburn, and Texas A&M, have tough schedules. It doesn't look like many in the top15 are being shy about their schedule with most of them getting a couple good games. Even Iowa St is playing 4 teams above the 200s is Barttorvik ranking
