Biden getting us into WW III before leaving office.

Did you read the link that I posted above? Did you understand it? We are on the brink of nuclear war. Here are the last two paragraphs:

"The new doctrine asserts that Russia could use nuclear arms in the event of an attack by a nation backed by a nuclear power. The doctrine’s publication on Tuesday appeared to be the latest suggestion from the Kremlin that Russia could use nuclear weapons to respond to attacks by Ukraine carried out with American support, and that the response could be directed against American facilities as well as Ukraine itself."

“Aggression against the Russian Federation and (or) its allies by any nonnuclear state with the participation or support of a nuclear state is considered as their joint attack,” the document says.
The brink of nuclear war. Smh
Better get in your bunker.

This guy would probably be towards the bottom of my list right now. Been out of college head coaching for a few years now and would need to put a staff together. Probably could have gotten him a couple of years ago, not sure if he was an option then though.
Agree. And yet, would still be a huge upgrade over Coach Falters…

This article dumbs it down for those of you who still don't get it. I hope I'm wrong but I expect to see Russia launch a tactical nuclear missile against an American, French or British NATO base in Europe.

June Jones disciple. Was running a run and shoot at Hawaii. If he wins his lawsuit against Wazzu, maybe we can get him for cheap.

Caleb Furst Profile

I don't see Painter pulling something like that. It would make for a really bad look and I think he's just a good dude.
I dont either, 90's had allot less transparency well before NIL.

A co-worker who is a big sports fan and Marquette grad in the early 80's (but his best friend is a Purdue alumni) and I were talking about the game. I asked about their size and he said there only big man is a stiff. He went to the final 4 with his friend here in Phoenix and so follows Purdue. I said our big men are by committee. He really likes TKR, and I mentioned center is by committee. I brought up Furst, saying I liked him as a freshman, former Mr Basketball, but just one of those guys that didnt really improve and he is 3rd in the rotation after an injury.

Anyways I said Furst is a senior and honestly he is typically the type that transfers for his senior year to help prepare for a career in Europe so he can get more playing time. I wonder why he stayed. Thanks to the OP, I know now, for an education.

Actually its refreshing to see someone stay for he degree and value the Purdue education. Its one of the things I love about our program.

Purdue Football 2025 (Only 2 HC Options)

Option 1: Keep Walters

As much as this may not be the better of the 2 options, I personally don’t think 2 years is enough time to give a coach a fair deal. He signed a 5 year contract. Now, with that being said, I do think that as year 3 progresses, you see definite improvement. IMHO, this improvement would have to include 3 or 4 wins, and being competitive at least in the first half against the OSU’s, PSU’s, Meat Chickens and Oregon’s. However, he has to hire both an OC and a DC and Purdue has to pony-up the cash for this. He should not call plays or defenses. He’s the manager. He’s a player’s coach and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as he demands accountability like Tiller did. If Joe didn’t like what you did, your ass got wood splinters. This entire coaching staff needs to create a system, an identity and a culture. None of which is currently present. At the present time, this is a poorly coached Indiana Class 2 football team. The Purdue BOD also has to look at the NIL and get with the times. You get what you pay for. This is 2025 and not 1925.

Option 2: New HC

What the AD Needs to understand is that you never let a new HC cut his teeth on your program. Let him cut his teeth elsewhere. Also, the AD needs to fully understand that Purdue is not a final coaching destination. It never was, nor will it ever be. You need to search for the up-and-comer who wants to settle at Texas, Miami, Clemson, Georgia or even ND. JB was the perfect example, not that Louisville is an ass-kicker. The other thing that has to happen is whomever that coach is, he’s got to bring the majority of his current staff with him. Joe Tiller was perfectly content at Wyoming. He was a fly fisherman who fished the rivers of Wyoming and loved it there. But when he took the job at Purdue, he brought the majority of the gunslingers with him.

However, with all this being said, ticket and donation revenue will dictate the future. Purdue has been here before. The last year of the Colletto and Hazell regimes were just as bad. But this feels worse because it’s happening now. The BIG is a lot tougher now. 6 wins and bowl eligibility is now a monumental task for Purdue and other similar programs. The AD also needs to look at the non-conference scheduling. If you want to play an ND, UNC, TCU, Vandy, etc. That’s fine. But you don’t have to do it every year. At this point in time, the MAC, WAC, C-USA, Mountain West and others provide plenty of competition. Break the contracts with the Power-5 teams if you have to. You can afford it.

Braden Smith NIL Valuation

Apparently Smith's valuation has shown significant growth (about 1/2 way down the attached article). Well deserved. I hope he is driving a nice truck or SUV.

At 6', do you think he will stick around for his Senior year or turn professional?

Did that article say Mgbako is worth more than Braden? If so, the entire thing is invalidated.

Not basketball, but in the 90's Robert Smith was pre-med and actually quit football and ran track only because the football coaches wouldnt give him enough time to study and they put pressure on him to switch to an easier major.

Biden getting us into WW III before leaving office.

Trump absolutely was not going to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan.
Trump would have NEVER left the Taliban in charge of security during the withdraw.

Priority one for Trump was keeping Bagram air Base.
Sleepy Joe gave it to the Chinese. What did he get in return?

You believe China has the base because trump said so?

If trump wanted to keep Bagram he should have included it the great deal he made with the Taliban. Did he do that? If he had gotten out of Afghanistan in 4 years like he promised he could have tried to keep it. Did he do that? In what world would the Taliban let us stay at Bagram while giving them the rest of the country?

Speculation from Spartanwire.

So let's all bet on Purdue to win, if somehow they do, we use those winnings to buyout Ryan Walters and start over.

If there really is indecision on the AD's part about his future at Purdue they also need to be canned.
Exactly. If you think you can replace the entire coaching staff except for him, and succeed, you don’t know what you’re doing.

Braden Smith NIL Valuation

I have to believe he would receive more money from nil contracts than the NBA.

I do believe like many other Purdue players, he will enter the draft and attend the combine so that he will be able to receive their insight on areas his game needs improvement.

But I truly believe he will remain at Purdue all 4 years.

Something that nobody has speculated. Maybe he’ll transfer to Duke to win a championship. That has as much chance as him leaving for the nba. Duke could offer him more money than Purdue could. It all comes down to loyalty or money.

I’m not sure why you people even bring the subject up and what you expect the replies to be. If I didn’t know you better, I’d say these types of threads are nothing but click bait. I can make posts to generate just as many stupid replies.
why do you hate Purdue?

You mean like the Afghanistan deal? Or trumps order to withdraw all troops that was ignored? Or zero cooperation in the handoff to Biden?

It could be Biden us trying to get Ukraine in a stronger position before the inevitable cave to Putin by trump.

It's BS that either side wouldn't do everything to help the incoming administration. I guess elections have consequences can take on a different meaning.

It’s probably already curtains for Walters. BoBo just doesn’t want to hire someone as an intern head coach for 2 games. Firing Walters now isn’t going to make a difference in the IU game.

Face it. A new coach hired after a loss at MSU isn’t going to make a difference against IU. Having an assistant coach take over for one game isn’t going to make a difference either.

You might as well keep Walters for the remainder of the season
They had Walters fire the OC without anyone else who could call offensive plays, it’s mostly symbolic. It is very common to have an interim head coach and Purdue fired hope and hazel mid season.

Braden Smith NIL Valuation

Unless he averages closer to 20 ppg with almost 10 assists a game and 6+ boards on 40%+ from 3, He will test the nba waters and be back for his senior year and collect more NIL. If he and everyone else is back, we should be a front runner to win a NC in 2026.
I can't believe I'm saying this because my disdain for recruiting Smith was well known a few years ago, but man, has that kid served me the biggest helping of crow I've ever had. I couldn't have been more wrong (happily). And I do agree, if Painter can find the missing piece for next year, whatever that might be, Purdue will be the favorite to win the NC.

Caleb Furst Profile

Pretty sure Caleb is a guy you'd like your daughter to marry. Honest, straight shooter, hard working.
I remember a couple of hoopsters in the engineering program too.

My daughter is 20 and a junior in the Honors college here at U of Arizona studying Molecular Cellular Biology. They would make a good couple outside my daughter being 5'1, lol
