Not a surprising reaction from an IU fan, where the hype has significantly exceeded substance for a long time. If you're IU a loss like this may break you as a team.

When you're secure in who you are, as Purdue is, there's no shame in getting punched in the mouth, whether that's losing by 10 or 30. It's what you learn from it and how you react. This loss will make this team significantly better in March. Great loss.
Don't be too hard on him. They've had their share of 20 point whippings of late, and it never seems to help them. If you've never seen your team respond well to a whipping, you'd be skeptical too!

Great loss

Young team, new challenges. I agree it was a good experience to lose this one. Learn from this.

15 turnovers was the game. That is potentially 30-45 points (12-18 at 40%) on our side and 15 less on their side (I think the number was close to 1 point per turn over)

I had thought we had turned the corner with Alabama, but I guess not.
No team is turning a corner after 3 or 4 games. Definitely not one that lost the NPOY.

Great loss? Lol. No. Getting beat by 20 is never great.

Great loss

Yes we played about as well as possible against AL. Well the team balanced that out last night....going the opposite way.

The positives I saw were the team fighting back over and over getting it to 4 & 5 several times. Until the final surrender.

Also was impressed with Colvin's rebounding(8). Which was good as it made up for Heide who only found 2 Rs....whereas prior to this game I thought Heide realized that was his role?? Should consider lower minutes if he is only getting 2 Rs imo.
I saw that box score and immediately wondered: Who here thought they'd see a game with Myles Colvin as our leading rebounder? Great for him. Not so great for our bigs.

Great loss

Agree that it is a great loss for us that the team needed. Hard to watch.

However, it won't be the last time we see that as it also a good game for those that scout us. Going to be a tough year on the road.

Surprised by how Cox and Colvin couldn't get anything done on offense.

Also surprised Wole actually had a decent post.... what's up with that??
No Big Ten foe has those type of guards and pressure D. Thats going to be the best D we face all reg season.

Expect big changes in CFP format next year.

That is what I am hoping for. A close game. Beat the spread and you're in good shape.

Now as an IU fan, I'm 31. I've seen like 3 winning seasons in my life. Even if we don't make the playoff and we are 11-1 heading into a bowl game, I will be beyond excited still because who knows if this will ever happen again. Quite possibly a once in a lifetime thing.
Since you are 31 and I am 72 yr old IU alum/fan that would seem that I should have 4? more winning seasons than you? I guess I have to figure that out. For Purdue youngsters reading this ... in November 1967, Purdue had the lead late in the bucket game and fumbled on IU's 2? yard line, IU went on to win the game and go to the '68 Rose Bowl. I have the original Indy Star in my memorabilia that shows that fumble stop action in the air ... plus Purdue was wearing what I think was their best uniforms ever since I am a uniform junkie ... "old gold" helmet and pants, white jersey with the old gold strip surrounded by two black stripes on the shoulder. The uniform number was on each side of your helmets.

Speculation from Spartanwire.

I am calling for a JMU link to be put on the bucket after the Nov. 30 game, signifying the sad end of a long rivalry. Many rivalries will now decline or vanish across the country. @Katscratch

A US Senator says 14 of 31 transfers are from JMU.

Tommy is close but wrong ... only 13 and 10 of them start

It will all come out in the wash on Saturday.

As long as IU doesn’t get Waltered, they’re in.

Lot of data to digest after this loss. It won't really hurt us as the will go down as a Q1 loss but still sucks.

Berg - is about 2-3 steps slow and just not aggressive. I don’t think he is our best option at the 5. Would rather us go small with Furst and Burgess. More to gain from giving Burgess minutes so he can grow/learn

I read a post after the game that summed up our issue, Marquette was great in disrupting our 2nd & 3rd passes. A lot of our offense is hinged on the ball rotating for a shooter on the 2nd, 3rd pass and they were great in disrupting that all night.

Onward and upwards. Come home, lick our wounds and take it out on Marshall before we head West to play NCState and potentially BYU.

Not to worried about last night. I am sure we will see that again on occasion to a degree. But their ability to disrupt through anticipation was remarkable.

Still clear to me that in most instances TKR @ the 5 with 4 guards (includes Heide or Colvin @ the 4) will be the best bet in a lot of situations.

Slow yes, but still got to keep utilizing Berg (& even Burgess) in limited minutes to work them into game shape as there are situations where that might be needed later.

Not sure what to make of Furst? CMP keeps giving him PT. Hopefully, that works sometime soon???

Does this make Shake 3-2 vs Painter?
Ever since his VCU days, I've really liked the way his teams play with their relentless pressure D, guards who can penetrate and kick out, and transition offense.
I've always thought he'd be a great replacement at Purdue when Painter hangs it up.
PJ Thompson will be next Purdue coach.

Joey Galloway

Did anyone hear this clown last night during the selection update?

First, he suggested than Indinia should bench Rourke this weekend against Ohio State so the same thing doesn't happen to them that happened to Florida State last year. Huh?

He also said that "LITERALLY Indinia hasn't beaten anyone." And Texas and Penn State as well. Literally. As in, you literally don't know what the word literally means.
If that’s the case, then his team should win huge on Saturday.
