Great loss

He plays with a chip on his shoulder and seems to also chirp with the opponent. I have no problem with that if it helps him play better. But, what happened at times against Marquette was him simply playing way out of control and right into the way Marquette probably wanted him to play. I often wonder of the opponent can sometimes get into his head and cause him to force too much. IDK. Just speculation.

Unfortunately, he also needs to learn ( and I think he is based on facial expressions) that he can't trust Berg or Furst to finish around the rim when Smith hits them with a very nice feed. Berg is just too slow and unathletic. Furst can take an open layup / flush and give the D enough time to block the shot. We despirately need Furst to figure out how to beat the defense to the rim.
I like to see him chirping with the opponent, but chirping at refs isn’t OK. I can watch the NBA for that.

Linda McMahon: So being co-CEO of a wrastling federation qualifies you for Secretary of Education

I don't know if there any written qualifications or not but Gaetz ain't it. Just the mere fact that Gaetz has serious allegations against him should have disqualified him from being selected as these allegations were known. Chump has sent a clear message in his cabinet picks that they are there to not advise the president. They are there to do his authoritative bidding of running the government.
Allegations do not mean proof. The Biden Justice Dept dropped the case. Do you think if they had a case they would have dropped a chance to discredit a repub congressman?

Do you feel that Gaetz is qualified for AG?
I don't know. I would like to hear his confirmation hearings first before rushing to judgement like urban radio and you.

How about more than two years actually practicing law?

If you tried to type a post without deflecting your fingers would fall off.
It is not deflecting to ask bni what qualifications he thinks are needed in an AG since he is saying Gaetz is not qualified.

How about more than two years of practicing? Why would that be important for the AG role?

An AG sets policy but does not actually try cases. You know that, right?

Great loss

P

No team is in a place, even UConn, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, to go "man that 20 point loss was a great loss." Numbers matter, especially in the world of the NET.

Big wins over bad/good teams= good
Any win over a good team= good
Close wins over bad teams= bad
Big losses to any team= bad
Incredibly ignorant, shows a complete lack of understanding of the importance of culture. Again, not at all surprising from an IU fan, where there hasn't been a positive, consistent culture in almost 25 years.

Speculation from Spartanwire.

If it’s Karpick I’m worried, if it’s Tom … not so much.
Not sure how much I buy into them interviewing staff now. The only people taking interviews now would be guys who are unemployed and I find it hard to believe if you don’t have a job now that you’d be desirable for one next year.

Gotta think we lose half our ticket sales next year if we bring this coach back. That’s a huge huge revenue hit.

Walters must have some really good blackmail if this is even being considered. His defense doesn’t work. This team is fundamentally absent. We are a good OC hire away from winning maybe 3-4 next year. Is that something you want to tank the program for?

At least go down swinging if you’re the AD.

What do you republicans and Flavor Aiders have against the Dept. of Education? Tired of black folks getting Pell Grants?
The federal Department of Education has a building full of employees. Just want to know what they do that the state Department of Education doesn’t do. Is it really a necessary Department?

Why Trump Needs to Drain the Swamp

Quite an allegation.......
Please document the police or FBI who are investigating Gaetz of this moment?

Also still waiting for you to document where you objected to 1 DEM cabinet appointment....the way you have these Rs.
These allegations have been out for a long time. Police enforcement of some sort is investigating this for sure. State and local for sure.

Isn't Congress currently investigating and folks are calling for them to release the report.

Why would you want to bring in new blood. Painter has built a top notch culture at Purdue and I am sure the AD would like to continue that as long as possible.
Until last year, there was real question as to whether Painter was going to get us to the promised land. We were seeing very similar tourney results as we saw with his mentor Keady (very good regular season coach, but underachieve in the tourney).

As much as I dont want to talk about Indiana....

I will. (Because, yes, I am a little envious of their football hire)

Interesting point made yesterday about the IU v OSU game. The point was that if OSU wins, IU should NOT be awarded a playoff slot.

The reasoning is the strength of schedule. The IU preseason is the weakest of the ranked teams. The second point that caught my eye is that IU has not played any Big Ten team in the upper half of the conference, although Washington cracked that ceiling at 4-3/6-5. Normally Michigan would be there, but not this year.

At this point Washington is their only foe with a winning record.

Are they better than Purdue? Absolutely, but that is not my point. We might have 4 wins with their schedule.
They are a good team. Probably not deserving of a playoff spot though without a top 25 win.

A win over a 7-8 win P4 team in their OOC would have helped them immensely here.

What are the qualifications?

Merrick Garland and Eric Holder were no doubt qualified on paper to you, but turned out to be horrible.

Same for Austin in DoD, and especially Blinken in State.

And how about the disgraceful hack in Homeland Security - and all the damage he has caused.
I don't know if there any written qualifications or not but Gaetz ain't it. As far as Garland, Holder, Austin, and Blinken, as with all administrations mistakes are made but there successes are made as well. I have no problems with either of the aforementioned.

Do Pell grants fall under the jurisdiction of the DoE?
What exactly is the mission of the DoE and what examples can be provided to demonstrate success?

Here's an example, albeit at the state level: Chicago public schools is near the top of the list in per-student spending, yet they have terrible graduation rates and reading/math scores. That's a failure of the system.
Yes, the Pell Grants fall under the jurisdiction of the Dept of Education.

The mission:

As far as the Chicago public schools. We've discussed this over and over. I told y'all, the low graduation rates and test scores are not because of the system, bad teachers, bad schools. I've seen this first hand when I was in elementary and junior high back in the 70's. I went to school with some of these kids in the public school system. The low graduation rates are due to the kids themselves and parents, most likely a single parent that do not value education from the time the child enters kindergarten. This continues throughout K-12. A lot of these kid have behavior problems. Teachers are constantly trying to control the kids behavior in class. This disrupts learning. A lot of these kids I feel had some sort of PTSD from all of the violence and death they see the moment they come out of the womb. My mother checked my homework and made sure that is was done for one and done correctly. The parent(s) of these kids do not do this. These parent(s) do not read to these kids when they are young, perhaps to reading deficiencies themselves. These parents do not know how to be parents. Therefore, by the time the kid gets to high school they are way behind. Low test scores are the result. Low graduation rates follows. The schools are hand tied of what they can do with these kids. The kids that do score well on the tests, graduate and go to college are the ones that value education and perhaps had good parents. The bottom line is that the Dept of Education and the local school system can only do so much from what they have to work with.

I'm not a big fan of turning over the program to someone with zero HC experience at this level. Football has shown that can have disastrous results.
Additionally, I'd be in favor of bringing some new blood into the program.
Why would you want to bring in new blood. Painter has built a top notch culture at Purdue and I am sure the AD would like to continue that as long as possible.

Marquette -4.5

Yea, yesterday I had Alabama with Sears to score 15 points, they got 100 and he didn’t score a point, that will be the craziest stat line of the season, how does he not get 1 point?
They focused on not letting hi score much and, like Kam did vs us, took what the defense gave him and gave it to his teammates to hit open shots (Nelson had 19 in the quarter). Also, he was able to rely on his backcourt mates as the Illini (for a second straight year) don’t play much defense. In the second half, Oates wanted to put Sears back in but he told him no because his teammates were doing really well and he didn’t want to mess up the flow.
