So, what happens now in Bloomington

Illinois is a pretty tough game for IU too.

Projecting 8-10 wins for any B1G team that’s not OSU is shaky territory.
I'd say there are 10 winnable games on the schedule in eyes. I said the same about this year as well and we won all 10 plus Michigan. Next year I don't see us beating Penn State or Oregon and that's perfectly fine with me. Iowa is a who knows because you never know what Iowa will be year to year. I think Illinois is the 3rd best on the schedule and that'll be a really tough game. Maryland could be tough but their coach sucks. Wisconsin is a mystery as well. I think saying 7-10 wins is realistic.

So, by your theory, they'll win all those games and then likely fall flat when it counts most. I know you guys know this, but ND was the better team and now owns the state. Every team is going to get better if they're willing to spend money and it appears that PU is finally in that group.

Cig had the easiest schedule he could have for a first-year coach, and that will be different next year.
IU sos was 57 before the ND game which is about right in the middle of of total D-1 teams

IUFB will be fine in 2025. There are "maybe" three games IU could lose - at Iowa, at Oregon, and at Penn State. So, 9-3 or 10-2 (not including a bowl game) will certainly not be "back to reality", and the bucket will stay in Bloomington.
Also just looking at wisconsin I would say that is a game indiana could lose. They seemed to upgrade at a lot of positions already.

At Maryland will be tough. It was one of the closer games in Bloomington this year and big ten road wins are hard to come by. Maryland looks improved doing very good in the transfer portal and many starters returning. And I know indiana won’t want to hear this or will probably argue, but hemby was losing his starting spot to freshman ray so Maryland has the edge on indiana there.

New 5, 6th man

Since Loyer is slower with his feet, I would like to see us get him set on the perimeter, and us passing the ball around until he is open to pop the 3. He could also use TKR by passing the ball inside to him and collapse the defense and pass it out to the perimeter to Loyer (TKR has shown tendencies this year not to pass out as much as he should when he get double teamed). Loyer is at his best when his shoulders are square to the basket and feet set.
The problem is Loyer is slower with his feet.
Other teams know that, and take him away.
He is next to never open to pop the 3.

Colvin and Heide yikes

After that schematic adjustments are needed. Both Try and Fletch said after the Auburn game that they’re going to need to find counters. I would like to see Braden look to get to a 12 to 15 foot jumper immediately after he gets the past the hard hedge that teams are sending. Too often he is waiting to long to get to his pull up and settling for an 18 foot off balance shot.
Thanks, I haven't had a chance to hear what they or Matt had to say.

In my opinion, this is in a large part related to Painters offensive scheme. His decision he’s going to focus on his top 2-3 players to do the majority of the work the majority of the time. His third player is usually the other scoring option based on scheme. Yes he has a ton of plays/sets but our offense is run mostly through Smith and TKR. Pick and roll variations … the problem is teams are well aware and have found a game plan to limit the effectiveness. Aggressive D on Braden and push him away from the 3point line, the pick now is coming not near the elbows but several feet outside the 3 point line. Hard hedge brief double team Then drop off on TKR. Smith struggling to drive off of hedge and the short drop pass coming way to far out limiting TKR effectiveness and causing turnovers. Loyer is next option but this team is not setting good screens (damn I miss Zach) . Loyer has played pretty well most games but his funky drives to the basket have been harder and less effective. That leaves us with the two other players… Colvin and Heide are afterthoughts. They aren’t involved except setting picks and posting up outside the arc. I even think I’ve noticed Smith ignoring them on passes when open (I think that’s a different story). Paint has stated those guys can shoot when open but they shouldn’t be hunting shots. There’s no motion creating looks for guys. The ball tends to stagnate at times and then a forced pass … I truly believe the entire team would be more aggressive and engaged if we moved the ball quickly ran more motion and created plays for all 5 guys on the court. Harder to guard and creates more pressure on the D. It appears to me the guys are hesitant to shoot or drive being that’s not in the plays and the hesitation then makes it more difficult to score. Anyone else come away feeling like they are seeing what I’m describing? And no I’m not saying I’m a better coach than Painter. I’m saying there have been games where what the team is trying to force isn’t working and maybe changing it up some and getting all 5 guys on the floor actively trying to score might be worth a shot?

Dillon Theineman committed to Oregon

If you're going to fault one, you have to fault the other. And if you do that, then you fault the entire process as a whole. Guys are going to move for whatever reason that suits them now that this system is in place. Money, playing time, winning, getting closer to home, getting further from home, girlfriend/boyfriend, scenery, education (gasp!). This is a new world of college sports. I hate it, but to complain about it at this point is like the old man yelling at a cloud. Nobody is going to hear you. We just deal with having a 30-50% roster change every year and hope for the best.
I don't blame any of these guys for taking a bigger payment day. Ideally, this leads to multi - year contracts that doesn't completely close the door on transfers. We're already seeing teams back out of bowl games because of transfers (Marshall) so something will be done sooner than later. The NCAA is kind of pointless, but maybe they could muster a solution.

Wondering about some players entering portal

C. J. Smith and Green were highly regarded duds. Smith was a medical problem at Georgia and Purdue. I don’t see that changing. Green would never look for the ball when defending a receiver. Not sure why we would want them.
Maybe so, but I doubt he showed them the door if they didn't want to stay and work.
