Did you READ the first two sentences of the link that I posted? This is the LA Times talking, not Trump:

"In recent days, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has touted her country’s largest-ever seizure of fentanyl and highlighted multiple crackdowns on migrants headed toward the United States.

"She was speaking to the press, but her most important audience is U.S. President-elect Donald Trump."

Fresh Start Today

Looking forward to seeing if Cox plays more.

Agree that getting Colvin and Heide involved is key.

I love Furst and want him to breakout more than anyone, but maybe it's time to play Burgess more and let him grow. Maybe by March he will be a nice piece.

Hoping Harris can get comfortable too.
I don’t disagree with this and the original post.
The concern I have is it would require Paint to change the basis for entire offensive concepts. He even tells recruits that if you are in the top 2-3 that you’ll have stuff run for you but if not you won’t and you’ll fill a role and be a support team player.
Getting both Colvin and Heide more involved beyond Smith, Loyer and TKR would require running stuff to create for them outside of the top three. Other Purdue teams have thrived with the 3 player scheme but this team is not performing strong enough to overcome the weaknesses that have been exposed so far.
Heide and Colvin being limited options left to score on 3point kick outs hasn’t produced consistently and leaves advantages of creating scoring opportunities for them using set plays to make use of their athleticism.

It could be an option just giving them a green light to hunt their opportunities instead of other options such as creating set scoring plays to incorporate. Either way it seems several of us fans and non coaches feel we need to get them more involved.

Toledo at Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and Happy New Year to you and your families. Today, the Toledo Rockets (6-5) out of the Mid-American Conference visit Mackey Arena to take on the #21-ranked Purdue Boilermakers (8-4) in the last game of the non-conference season for the Boilers. Tip is scheduled for approximately 6:00 pm (Eastern time) with television coverage on the Big Ten Network.

Projected Starting Line-ups:

Toledo - Jaylan Ouwinga, Javan Simmons, Sam Lewis, Sonny Wilson, and Isaiah Adams

Purdue - Trey Kaufman-Renn, Camden Heide, Myles Colvin, Fletcher Loyer, and Braden Smith

____________________________________

Purdue has lost three of its last four games and is coming off two disappointing losses the last two weekends to Auburn and Texas A & M. Also, this will be the first home game for the Boilers in three weeks. Toledo has lost four of its last five games after a 5-1 start to the season, and the Rockets were overmatched in their last game, as Houston held them to 49 points on 29 percent shooting. Toledo trailed by as many as 38 and never led in the game.

Sophomore guard Sonny Wilson leads the Rockets in scoring, averaging 15.2 points on 52.8 percent shooting. A few other Toledo players to watch are sophomore guard Sam Lewis (13.9 PPG and 4.9 RPG), sophomore forward Javan Simmons (11.5 PPG and 4.4 RPG) and senior guard Isaiah Adams (10.4 PPG and 3.9 RPG). Toledo ranks 216th in the KenPom ratings, 121st in offensive efficiency and 328th in defensive efficiency. The Rockets play at a relatively fast pace with a 65th rating for adjusted tempo.

Purdue has slipped to 27th overall in KenPom ratings, still 9th in offensive efficiency but no 75th in defensive efficiency. The adjusted tempo is still among the slower teams at 300th.

This is a little bit of a step down in competition level for Purdue after the last few weeks, but this is no time for the Boilers to be complacent or just rely on the home environment to carry them through. They still have plenty of young players who need more in-game experience and more importantly, the overall team play and efficiency still needs work and has room for improvement.

According to Coach Matt Painter following the Auburn loss and leading into this game - "You want to play a great schedule to figure your team out, figure out what you need to work on, but you also want to win......So we've done it the three previous years and were undefeated in all three non-conferences and played a lot of difficult people. I don't want to go away from that standard. This is where we are. Deal with it. Get better as a coach, get better as a player, get better collectively as a team......We're not a great team. We're a good team and we need to work so hopefully come March, we can be a great team."

"It's hard to be consistent with inconsistent minutes. It's hard to feel good about yourself and have confidence and know you belong, but you don't feel that way because you might not play in a game, or you might play 5-to-10 minutes, or you don't get any shot attempts. It's really, really difficult. So, for those guys to be in there and get some confidence ... that's what we need."

Purdue is looking to get things back on track as the conference season resumes next week with a trip to Minneapolis. How will the Boilers respond today?

We shall see, coming up in a few hours......

Boiler Up, my friends.

Cripe, it is already working. The mere threat of a 25% tariff on Mexico has their president scared sh1tless. She has already cracked down on drug trafficking and migrants headed to the US. And this article is from the far-left LA Times.

"An elated Trump reported after the call on social media that Sheinbaum had “agreed to stop Migration through Mexico” and had committed to “effectively closing our Southern Border.”"

By all means you should simply accept what trump tells you as fact. Good minion.

Dude, the article clearly states that jobs were brought back to the US in specific industries, read the paragraph I highlighted in bold. Translate how that does not say we did not add jobs. Now we may have lost other jobs in other manufacturing sectors, but we increased jobs in those specific sectors.

Just because you didn’t see jobs added in Gary doesn’t mean we didn’t add jobs as a nation. There are 49 other states where those jobs could’ve been added. I trust Brookings much more than I trust BNIBoiler’s economic review.

Not all steel is produced in Gary, see the link stating NC.

See figure 2 in the link below.

I know all steel is not produced in NW Indiana but we still manufacture more steel than any other region in North America. Other than NW Indiana there are steel companies near Fort Wayne, Crawfordsville, New Carlisle, and near Evansville.

President Obama added thousands of jobs in the US way before Chump’s tariffs. He saved the auto industry which in turn saved the US steel industry.

If the tariff article that you posted was supposed to prove your point that tariffs are good, you failed miserably. The article clearly states the following.
  • American firms and consumers paid the vast majority of the cost of Trump’s tariffs.
  • While tariffs benefited some workers in import-competing industries, they hurt workers in sectors that rely on imported inputs and those in exporting industries facing retaliation from trade partners.
  • Trump’s tariffs did not help the U.S. negotiate better trade agreements or significantly improve national security
I do remember that Chump's tariffs specifically hurt the US farm industry, particularly corn and soybeans.

New 5, 6th man

What's your current outlook for this team? Sorry if you've stated this before, but curious to know if you're anticipating bottom third of the conference, middle of the pack NCAAT bubble team or something else.
I’m thinking they finish somewhere between 3rd-5th in the B10.
Finish with 19-21 wins. 5-7 seed.
I’m not sure how many B10 teams play the type of D that gives Purdue problems. But the script is out there.
I think we also see some more starting lineup changes because the production for. Colvin and Heide has been so inconsistent.

Dear RDU and his “partners in crime.” How does this affect your illegal immigrant crime stats? Here’s just one guy. Challenge me and I’ll show you 100 more. Why is the government of Chicago, Cook, Illinois failing to protect its citizens? You come to our country illegally and live on the backs of taxpayers and your gratitude is to commit crimes and terrorize the community? But the bigger question is why after the first arrest did the Cook County Court system NOT detain and notify ICE? If they did every subsequent crime would have been avoided. T or F the primary responsibility of government is to protect its citizens?

Big Ten

Also, just nerding out a little bit to put things in perspective......Purdue and Auburn are the only top 100 NET teams that have played 7 Quad One games to date. Purdue is 3-4 against Quad 1.

For Comparison across B1G:
Maryland 1-2
MSU 1-2
Mich 1-2
ILL 2-3
IU 0-2
PSU 0-1
OSU 2-4
Wisky 2-3
Nebraska 1-1
NW 0-1
Iowa 0-3
Rutgers 0-3
Oregon 4-1
UCLA 3-1

A lot of the league has not been tested or not been great when they have been. Oregon and UCLA appear to be top of the class, but that travel schedule and playing in sold out B1G road venues every night might level the playing field. The league is wide open.

So other than UCLA, the B10 is way down then.....

OK, now that evidence is out that he is undocumented, I accept that point.

But.... Biden deported undocumented people at a faster rate than Trump (which I don't especially like, but whatever). And crime rates by undocumented people tend to be lower than by U.S.-born citizens.

Crime rates for illegal immigrants are very difficult to accurately quantify because many progressive justice systems, especially Soros-funded districts will not code the criminal as undocumented in order to avoid triggering ICE detainers. Also in Chicago their progressive leadership is simply flat out refusing to prosecute and detain illegals due up their perverse ideology. Just ask the black citizens showing up at the city council meetings. Don’t believe me answer for this. A violent illegal immigrant released by the government charged with protecting its citizens? Why (George Soros?)?

https://cwbchicago.com/2024/08/migr...store-with-venezuelan-street-gang-report.html

And as an FYI, months ago I dropped hints of a violent gang operating and massing in the Little Village and Pilsen neighborhoods of Chicago. Loooong before anyone ever heard of LTA. How did I know that? And a couple years ago I said “If people really knewhow bad things on the border are….” Because I know people in places. And no disrespect but people like you and Bobby are useful idiots funding your own demise. And cheering on the destruction of your family’s future. Cool.

OT: Pinstripe bowl attendance.

Rather be in Hawaii over NYC this time of year
There's another baseball field bowl in crappy weather country besides this one. Think I've mentioned it before, if you're going to have those, Wrigley might as well throw their hat into the ring. Sure crime, sure, bad weather, but Wrigleyville makes the sell unique, plus you don't have as many seats you have to sell. This is all based on the idea that these bowls keep going moving forward, which looks pretty iffy. If the rest of broadcast (and a lot of streaming) didn't suck so bad, I'd say it'd be a lock, but the bowls do give people something to put on as background noise during the holiday, and that's worth some $$$ to some station or streamer.
