Daniel Jacobsen update from TOS

Painter was quoted as saying "I'll go in when I have to" referring to the transfer Portal.

He hasnt had a need in the transfer portal for a big man, not sure he will have a need next year with Jacobson and TKR. (Berg and Burgess too)

Technically under Keady, but during Painters first year, so he was the assistant head coach when Keady went and got Carl Landry who was a power forward.

Will we have any open scholarships next year unless we have a transfer? West in, Furst out right?
Berg isn't going to be doing anything next season. We need another big this season and he isn't doing anything, not sure why folks keep thinking we don't need another big for depth because we have Berg.

We've seen this year that only having three viable bigs leaves us vulnerable. We're only going to have three viable bigs next season too. There are better players than Berg who will fit just fine with this team and culture who will be in the portal.

POS President Chump blames DEI for plane crash

I already stated a "conclusion", to which you said you would follow the science. There is no scientific consensus on this question that I know of, which is why I asked you 'which scientists" since you are following the science.
I said I would believe the scientists. I didn't say I follow the science. That's twice you've lied about what I said.

What is wrong with you..........that you thrive on this meaningless drivel.

Nope, I told y’all several times the transatlantic slave trade was based on chattel slavery. Which was race based and hatred towards the blacks. When slavery was over in 1865, if it wasn’t about race then why after reconstruction all hell breaks loose with the birth of Jim Crow, the KKK and other white supremacy groups? Compared to other forms of slavery in history. US slavery was based purely on white supremacy.
We all know about chattel slavery. It was not race based however. Africans were being enslaved by other Africans and sold off to other countries.

The racism that ensued after slavery ended had nothing to do with how the African slave trade began. This leap of logic you're trying to make is ridiculous.

Throwing in regular transfers for Painter, in the front court, there was also Nemanja Calasan (aka "Chally"). :)

Edey

Why do they not play him more?!
Lots of good answers, also the NBA is much more fast paced game. I am guessing they are giving him shorter periods so he can give max effort on defense. Its not that Zach isnt in shape, its just that modern basketball is a running game and Zach is a 7'4 giant that can only give max effort for so long.

Well, technically, he's only had two transfer portal players, IIRC - both guards needed initially as secondary ball handlers who could also provide some scoring. David Jenkins was a solid role player off the bench, and Lance Jones worked out as well as Painter could have hoped for in being a key starter last year.

If you want to go back to graduate transfer days - mostly backcourt with Jon Octeus, Sterling Carter, Johnny Hill, and Spike Albrecht. Front court additions included Errick Peck and Evan Boudreaux.

Matt Painter, as stubborn as he may appear, has shown a willingness to adapt - although maybe not on the preferred schedule of many.

JMHO

Weren't both Jones and Jenkins both grad transfers so they fit under the old rules?

Not sure it matters, just thought they were not technically portal.

Edit, yes they were transfer portal players but would have qualified under the old rule. Lance Jones might be one of my favorite players of all time. Never seen anyone play with such joy and so excited to be a Boiler.

Correct me if I am wrong, but has Painter ever gone to the transfer/portal for a big? Not saying this could not happen in the future, but think if he wants another big for next year, it will be from the High School ranks and not from the portal.

I mean the portal has been around for about five minutes so I am not sure past is prologue at this early point.

We also have two more spots opening up which isn't like before.

Painter isn't a robot who never ever ever changes anything he does ever. He can be a bit slow to change for sure but he does do it.

Iowa

Push the ball and get Heide and Colvin some easy baskets at the rim when they are in the game - may help them get going
I am in the camp, that is a little worried of this game, even without Freeman for them. Iowa is a good home team, doesn't play a lot of Defense, but can get hot on offense. It also worries me that their star is gone for year and if rumors are right-forever. We saw last year against OSU what happened with new coach stepping in and this is similar. I could see a rallying cry for Iowa, of a selfish player left them and they will show the world they are better without him.

Bobby Knight song - pretty good

I don't think Painter is going to agree with you.

He started him and he was clearly well ahead of Burgess. Burgess will be nice but he's not had any huge leaps to suggest he's starting next year.

DJ is going to be a year older and stronger from the weight room. Gonna guess he starts.
You could be right. CMP feels naked without a 7’-2” plus guy in front of the rim.

For those that praise Chump’s tariffs

Trump is cleaning up the damage caused by your beloved democrats. Your side protested in LA about sending criminals back to where they came from. Your side pisses and moans about cleaning up the balance sheet of America. What the heck is wrong with you democrats? Your side is hoping that Trump fails and the country goes to hell.

"This is ridiculous. These people have zero reason to believe any threats or warnings from law enforcement. They know that their comrade, Karen Bass, won't enforce any laws against them. It's a little surprising that Gavin Newsom hasn't yet sent in the National Guard. It took him a few days to do so after the George Floyd riots started in 2020, and at that time he said he didn't do it sooner because then-Mayor Eric Garcetti hadn't asked. We'll see if that changes now, since another day-long protest is supposed to occur on Wednesday. However, Los Angeles is supposed to receive up to an inch of rain on Wednesday, so if law enforcement can't keep the protesters away, perhaps the rain can."

I almost feel sorry for these Flavor Aiders. They want so bad for a "win" for their man it's a shame. They'll take anything as a win.

Oh yeah, I do know that the invention of the cotton gin increased the demand for slaves. And? There were slaves in the US prior to the invention of the cotton gin. Of course economics was a factor, slavery was cheap labor, duh. It's white supremacy and pseudo-science that they chose the Africans for this cheap labor. Then continued the racial hatred with Jim Crow when slavery ended for another 100 years. Now this anti-DEI bs is a slap in the face of all of the hard work that the civil rights folks died for.
you get a bit confusing. Earlier you guesstimated that Asians would be treated as slaves similar to blacks. I agree, and also believe that the Irish as another example would also be treated the same should the opportunity have been there. But then you say, "It's white supremacy and pseudo-science that they chose the Africans for this cheap labor." contradictory to your similar treatment of slaves of multiple races treatment had the opportunity existed.

Historically there were many occasions that whites were slaves not only to "people of color", but of the whites as well...."IF" they were vulnerable. There was no white supremacy other than they apparently were not as vulnerable or pseudo-science that led to Africans being slaves. Africans were captured and sold to slave marketers that took them to the northern ports of the USA to sell to the southern states for slave labor. Nobody is declaring it wasn't horrible and nobody is saying it wasn't a blight on humanity for thousands of years across the globe. The southern states would buy any slave sold with all things being equal other than color of skin. Now your Jim Crow and such is a different topic

Wisconsin at Purdue

I'm sure she'll be back next year. After that I'm not so sure. I think the program needs to take a big step forward or next year will be her last. Women's basketball is becoming more and more popular. Purdue can't be left behind with the worst programs in the conference. And right now we are in that bottom 5 or 6.
Right now according to .NET we are the worst yeah in the conference, bar none.

Why not just grab a guy who can start beside TKR and bring DJ along slowly? Maybe split time like Edey and Williams.
I don't buy DJ is a going to the NBA player just yet, but he's clearly talented enough that you're probably not finding a better option in the portal than him at the 5 or TKR at the 4.

But you can find a better option than Berg.

I think you find someone who has maybe 2 seasons left to help bridge the gap in depth next season and who bridges the gap the following season when TKR leaves.
