Zach Edey's Memphis coach just got fired

Hey, Edey has his Covid year of eligibility left.
Fly him to Indy and have him suit up for tonights game!!!

Wow. Yeah the handling of Edey may very well have something to do with it. Got to be more to it than that. Memphis has a pretty good record and they have rarely played at full strength this year. Morant has missed a shit load of games.

Pretty wild timing. 9 games left in the regular season and they are 44-29 and comfortably in the playoffs. They have lost 4 of 5 and weren't overly competitive in the losses.

The Boilermaker in me wants to believe the front office didn't like that Jenkins wasn't playing Edey more and fired him for it. But I have no idea.

Not that other teams haven't either, but Memphis has had a boatload of injuries (including Edey a couple of times) this year. And yeah, agree, you usually don't see a change like that with a certain playoff team. They have alternated Edey in and out of the starting line-up the last few weeks.....interestingly his +/- was usually significantly better from the bench.

Candidly, I still don't watch much NBA, and the most I watched of any game(s) in years was this year with Memphis. I cannot tell you how many times I've said/thought.....ok.....I'll give this team/game a shot........and then after five minutes, it's "Nope - I just can't watch this......." This coming from a guy, who in his youthful days was up late with a flashlight (against bedtime rules....haha) watching the family 2nd TV (14" black and white) with tinfoil on the antenna to get the Youngstown TV station that didn't black out playoff games......and also remembers when Pat Summerall was a great NBA announcer for CBS.

Where have those days gone......

they had 9 games left and were tied for the 4th seed. firing a coach is NOT going to motivate the players. I haven'tlooked at their schedule, but this is a stupid move,

unless it was off the court related. such as sexual abuse or drinking or drugs.

this makes no sense

Logic would dictate it was the latter, but time will tell. With all the quietness surrounding this matter, even more suspicious.

Remember staying up late to watch the tape delay Celtics playoff games. Threatening my sister not to tell me who won!!

Watching the NBA as a college hoops fan is absolutely horrendous. I can in the playoffs - maybe last 4 teams - but other than that no thanks

Pacers set 2 franchise records this week. Total points (162) and made threes (26). Was forced to listen to "The Herd" on a drive this week, talking about teams tanking at the end of the year and that nobody, including the fans, really minded. Ugh.
