Some observations. Grambling's dribble-drive penetrations were frustrating. Zach being Zach. Good to see TKR have a good game. Colvin and Heide's athleticism is incredible. What happened to Gillis? Did the Grambling coach watch goon-ball film when we played N'western, wisc, and Rut, and get defensive "strategy" from it?

Watching Utah St, they don't have the goons to play goon ball fortunately. Should be a free flowing offensive game with a nice pace.

Gillis and Jones both didn't play well either. Will need those guys in their A games if this team makes the run everyone is hoping for.

Also, hope all the FT misses got out of Zach's system early.

Worried about Mason seeming gun-shy. He cannot be passing up good looks if we are going to go deep.

Of course coaches look at teams who had some success.

My observations were that Psinter and the team had a very fruitful and inspirational half time discussion. And actually made some adjustments

Lance hasnt' been the same player the last month or so relative to earlier. Might just be teams covering him tighter. Not many layups these days.

He seemed to be very amped up from last year vs FDU after his first 3 was very strong. Then he got in his own head and didn’t look to shoot. Hope that’s past him and he’s looser tomorrow night!

Absolutely they looked our losses to see how to beat purdue….and that’s to foul Zach a ton, dare refs to call them all, send Zach to line and then even though that was your strategy, complain to refs and media about foul disparity.

We avg 1.18 points per possession, to slow us down, teams foul Zach to shoot from the FT and to hope he doesn’t hit a high %. This strategy slows Purdue down and the game down and can take away 6-8 possessions from Purdue which technically mean they don’t score as easy or as much. It’s been implemented by NW, MSU, Wisconsin and UT and OSU.

My first game impression was defense in first half was bad.
Interesting. I think the D was decent. Most of the damage done was midrange, which is what the analytics and modern coaching suggest you want to force opponents to take. They just happened to hit them. They did get loose for a couple of layups which I didn't love but I think that was only 2. Even with that, they still only scored 27 points in the first half. I'm taking that every day of the week.

Jones needs to relax and stop pushing it so much. Usually ends in a terrible shot or a turnover.
