Hunter Johnson??

More than pretty good, the guy was awesome. What he did as a junior at NU before tearing his Achilles was one of the most underrated football seasons in modern college football history. The guy carried NU’s offense on his back that year and should have been a legitimate Heisman candidate. The injury was very unfortunate because I think he had a legitimate shot at being a Russell Wilson type QB in the NFL. By the way, he is another QB groomed by MCCall.
my point, I agree.

Purdue QBs have won (and started) more NFL games than any other school; thrown for the most touchdowns and yards in the NFL. Purdue QBs have won more League TD titles (14 through the 2012 NFL season) than any other school.
Thank you:
Drew Brees, Bob Griese, Kyle Orton, Mike Phipps, Gary Danielson, Jim Everett, Mark Herrmann, Curtis Painter, Len Dawson, and Scott Campbell.

None of who have anything to do with Purdue's current coaching staff.

Do you really want to compare the NFL career stats for Dawson,Griese,Phipps, Danielson,Herrman,Everett,Brees and Orton vs Graham, Persa, Kafka, Siemian,Kustok, Randy Dean,?,?. Give me a break...............

Perhaps if you choose a different contest, maybe we can list the most Elite 11 recruits?

The reason Purdue attracts the nations best HS QB's every year is because of tradition, history and knowledge that PU has an unequalled familiarity with the passing game and fans trust Brohm to be a fully committed disciple of a pro-style offense- Fitzpatrick does not have that rep nor does McCall.

Purdue has a rich and long tradition of producing NFL quarterbacks regardless of who the coach is. And Brohm just might be the best offensive coach Purdue has ever had...which is saying something.
You're trying too hard to convince yourself that Northwestern is anywhere near the caliber Purdue is in producing top flight qb's. Ask anyone not affiliated with Purdue or NU and you'll get the same answer.

Drew Brees may have come out of Purdue, but he's about as relevant here as Otto Graham is given that no one who coached him is here now.

Mick McCall has done a good job of spitting out QBs who have done well, including Omar Jacobs (HM and 2nd team All-American in 2004 and 2005, Davey O'Brien Semi-finalist, Drafted by Steelers), Josh Harris (drafted by Ravens), Mike Kafka (drafted by Eagles), Trevor Siemian (drafted by Broncos, started more games than any QB tutored by Brohm), and Clayton Thorson (going to be drafted at the end of this year). I'm not sure Brohm has anything on McCall in terms of developing QBs, quite frankly.

You are correct no one who coached Drew is still here.... but we have been known nationally as “ the cradle of quarterbacks” through multiple coaches over the decades and currently, as we discuss this particular possible recruit, have both a head coach who is a former NFL QB as well as his brother our OC. I am sure any quarterback recruit in today’s arena know the stats from both schools. Please excuse us if we don’t panic over our recent history.... Obviously the recruit isn’t or we wouldn’t be mentioned in every article written on this kid since his announcement...usually BEFORE Nortwestern I might add.

I don't think Phipps and Hermann helped much lol.

LOL, are you actually trying argue that the order in which schools of interest are listed in an article reflects some sort of implied ranking? That’s a pretty silly arguement.

The reality is that none of us really know. I do think it will come down to Purdue and NU (or should I say NU and Purdue?) and the decision will come fairly quickly. We’ll soon see whose fan base has something to crow about.

That’s what you took from that entire post.....lol! Well...errr okay, whatever....But as for crowing, I don’t think that’s what we’re trying to do. Ya’ll are the ones on someone else’s forum, dissing their school’s chances and quarterback history. It may be Hunter ends up at NW. But either way to come to Purdue’s Board dissing coming to Purdue as a QB is something I would expect out of IU- not NW where the average student is suppose to be considerably brighter than that.

I haven’t done any dissing, just looking for info, but agree that a few other posters from our board have. Forgive them, they are excited, a bit immature and can’t help themselves. Not surprisingly we all believe our respective schools are the best fit but I don’t think it’s appropriate to go to another team’s board to argue why.

I was right !!!! and I catch slack!! Charlton Heston is a Northwestern alumni. And he's probably the greatest communications major of all times. When he speaks, the waters parted. It doesn't get any more powerful than that. And the ten phrases he wrote on his Apple tablet are remembered forever.

there was an 11th phrase he was going to write, but it was edited out. Thou shalt not diss Wolegib. Shelly Long can vouch for me.

Like it or not, this forum(thread) has become a cesspool since the NW fans got here. Don't like it? Can't help you.

I think it is funny that on a football forum we are talking about Charlton Heston, but you have to love the guy. He was a great actor, served his country, five term President of the NRA (where he used those communications skills he acquired at Northwestern!). He even saw the light in the 70's and became a conservative!

Lone star. I saw you used an ! My posts must be growing on you. Be ware! There are many here who hate the use of the ! Say what you want about Northwestern, but Charlton Heston is the man.

Mine was just a light hearted reply. I'm a big fan of Charlton Heston. I'm not sure why I used the ! Maybe because you are correct about that. It is a slow day here at work and I looked it up. I couldn't verify what his major was, but wiki said he went to NW on a drama scholly.

Maybe our next thread can be on the use of ! :)

I will also admit it is hard for Purdue to compete against Northwestern when Julie Louise Dreyfus shows up in the stands.

Kirtz offered by Notre Dame tonight. Odd offer.

So, all bets are off on Kirtz to NU vs. IU. This is par for the course. It's becoming an annoying pattern of ND offering kids NU likes. Very annoying.

I also wonder if is an attempt to get Johnson to South Bend.

I'll restate my original thought behind this: Johnson would be getting direct coaching from TWO FORMER STARTING NFL QB's AT PURDUE...would he be getting that at NW? I guarantee if you listed the offensive minds in the B1G, Brohm's name would be in the top 4-5 right now...where would Fitz be?

Probably, but I wouldn't think that would influence Johnson. I would think Johnson going somewhere would more likely influence a decision by Kirtz, but who knows.

Wait, so a 1st ballot HOF super bowl winning QB who actively promotes Purdue has no relevancy but your list mediocre fringe pro QBs is some how going to sway Johnson to NW???

Insert WTF gif here

It's all about the coaches he is actually going to work with. Too bad Tiller isn't going to be there to help him.

Although I understand your comment, Purdue is known as the cradle of quarterbacks. It's a very nice history. Although the staff has changed, the reputation is there and the current guy is a former professional football player, that was very successful in college, and he came from a football family.

CJB is one of the hottest college coaches right now. That can work for and against him. The school signed an extension and is showing they are willin to pay to keep him. The interest can cause uncertainty that he will be there four years, but confirms he is one of the best coaches in the nation. There is no way Johnson didn't see what coach did last year with what he had. And already, this class is shaping up very nicely. One 5⭐️, one 4⭐️ And two high potential guys including a running back that put up ridiculous video gms numbers last year in high school.

Come on now. There is a lot of talk and reverence for Charlton Heston now. That's a good thing isn't it? Cess pool indeed!

Didn't see the NW fans commenting on Heston. Just thinking they know what's going on in a 17 y/o's mind when they haven't a clue, as well as thinking the rich QB tradition at Purdue means nothing to an elite QB.

Yes, it's become a cesspool!

Northwestern finished dead last in the B1G in recruiting this year. Please tell us more of how ND and Northwestern are battling head to head for recruits.
