Yea, Braden and Fletcher played like Frosh today, it happens.
Don't pile on the freshmen guards, of course they were awful.
I put most blame on Edey acting like he's never seen a delayed double before, and lofting cupcake passes to Northwestern as a result.

Refs weren’t good, however, Purdue lost this game on their own
Well, I don't think that Purdue is going to lose a basketball game to Northwester, just a one sided MMA match... Still, it's good experience for what they'll likely see again at some point... If the refs had called a fraction of the fouls on NW that should have been called, the game would never have been close - even with missed threes and turnovers (the ones that weren't actually uncalled fouls)
Refs took this game away but they may do that in the tournament as well. You have to battle through, I hope they come back even stronger from this.
Reffing won't be this lopsided in the tourney. Plus all Purdue needs to do is tighten up turnovers.
We missed a bunch of wide open 3's....Newman and Jenkins couldn't do anything
Oh there are plenty of excuses here already. Good practice for March…this board is like Groundhog Day every February and March.
I get that is the PC type of thing to say, but its bullshit... the game would never have been in question if properly officiated... and Purdue wouldn't have had the end of game meltdown b/c they'd have been up twenty points, and it would have been an entirely different game. Could Purdue have played better? sure... and they could have still won the game if they had, but they shouldn't have needed to play superhuman if they'd been allowed to play normal basketball.
Welp - that disaster finally ends - 17-3 run for Northwestern to end the game.....they took big time advantage of the opportunity and are tied with Indiana for second now.
Purdue still in decent shape with only three conference losses, but this team needs some serious re-focusing. Maryland has not lost at home in conference play and will be loaded for bear. They won't have to worry about the #1 target for a while anyway.

We just saw how you play ZE and beat us. That’s not even counting the pressure on the guards, who failed AGAIN.
Are you new here? It absolutely will be that bad in the tourney. It happens every year. Big man centric basketball will never win in the tourney for a variety of reasons, one of which is how they officiate bigs in the tourney and late in the year.
Teams have been fouling the **** out of us the last few weeks and getting away with it. This is exactly how the ncaa games will go as far as reffing goes. Remember this post

Hard to get a shot off with 2 bodies and 4 arms hacking you.
With the way the refs were allowing the brutal play in the paint, our guys got tentative. Had they been more aggressive maybe, just maybe we could have pulled it out. The poor refs took our aggression away. NW played well enough to win, with our tentative and hesitant passing.
Yeah, its how coaches will play us from here on out. Foul, foul, foul some more and dare the refs to blow the whistle.
