Hi Andy. Thanks for posting and adding the "like" to my post above. It is special that someone on this chat board would remember something unique to an individual and mention it. Your the best. So, now to answer your question about the casters. And this could take as long as something from my other friend, BAM BAM.
The company that made my chair is HON and they are from Iowa. So my take on that is that HON is using Hawkeyes to fill their job titles. They have sales people, and engineering staff and some managers to go along with the people that do the work like house keeping and shipping.
My first effort was to convince the sales person to check further in the company resources than just say the product was discontinued and good bye. I had to convince her that there had to be something at HON that would work because it isn't a good ROI to just re-engineer a product when it has made the company plenty of profits. I even gave her some dimensions of what I needed and she went to engineering with the information.
Time passed and I called again. This time I was talking to another in the same department and she decided to take on the task and got information from engineering that they do have a replacement product that will fit. So I got a quote and started the purchase process. That died when I learned that they don't accept Discover for payment.
My next move was to engage with a HON dealer in Indy to see if they could get the items and accept my Discover for payment. That worked but very slowly. They even doubled the price of the item so they could get their share. I had to pay shipping so I had them drop ship to my residence.
The item received was smaller than the original, so it didn't fit. I went back to HON to see if there was a mistake. Then I got a different person to help and it was determined that they had picked the wrong item to fill my order. A new delivery was set up and I waited 5 calendar days for a one day delivery. It arrived today. the new casters have been installed on the chair and I am spinning in delight.
The lesson learned here is that it takes a Boilermaker to assist OMHR in attaining success. Yes, I embellished that a little, but I am trying to look at the humor in a transaction like this. I would be falling on the floor or spending around $300 to replace this chair without having the tenacity and "not letting someone tell me no" character traits of a well rounded Boilermaker. Sort of like this thread describing the time it takes to get our other rival to gain success. Patience is Golden.
