How Many Days Has It Been Since iu Defeated Purdue in BB?

It is again Monday, the first day in June. And where has time gone. Seems like yesterday that the count was 1927 and now it is 1934 already. So as time flies by, that number continues to grow at the same rate. Boy that was fast.

1934:

Nazi Germany activated the Nazi eugenics law called "Law for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring".

On a less grim note, Disney introduced Donald Duck.

The great screwball comedy It Happened One Night was the first picture to win the five Major Oscars in 1934.

Serving the church Bible School this week and it is exciting times. The theme is railroads and the Boilermaker Special will be at the church on Thursday to finish of the festivities. Rides begin at 5:00pm. This one is crazy because the lady in charge is big time IU. Our minister has a Purdue degree and was in the Purdue Glee Club. Lot's of poking the bear goes on at the church. So now it is my turn. It has been 1941 days since the IU team won a basketball game against our Purdue Men's Basketball Team. I am going to ride the train on Thursday.

1941:

The giant German battleship Bismarck sank the British battleship HMS Hood. Three days later the British navy tracked down the Bismarck and sunk it.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Cleveland in July was in 1941 -- 103°F. That must be how IU fans feel when Inspector provides his weekly update.

I saw the movie Sink the Bismarck in 1960 at the Garfield theatre( The Dink) in Indianapolis .Paid 25 cents to see it.

It is time for the new number. And this is a special number for me as it is part of my "Born On" date. My parents were in Muncie as Dad was a Ball State student. But since they were married, they stayed in housing for married couples. It was one of the Ball Mansions that were predominant on their campus at the time. But once I was born, Mom and Dad had to find a new place to live. No place in the Mansion for me. I have been treated as a second class citizen all my life (sarc). And the number is 1948. There is no sarcasm in that.

Wow! Talk about winning streaks.

The number of days since IU has won a men's basketball game over Purdue is now 1955. That was a good year for the Yankees and the Dodgers with the Dodgers prevailing for their first world championship. I am also a Dodger fan since those years.

Still in Brooklyn, too.

There is a headline on the home page that mentions three things from the weekend. Well, there is one thing to take from today. It has been 1962 days since the IU basketball players have won a game over the Purdue Men's Basketball team. That was also my freshman year in high school.

1962:

NASA pilot Neil Armstrong took the X-15 to a then-record height of more than 25 miles (133,497 ft).

John Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth.

The unmanned rocket, Ranger 3, was sent to the moon, but missed by 22,000 miles. (Supporting the push to reject the notion that there is only one correct answer in math?)

Russians claimed that American baseball was really invented in Russia.

In 1962 my family moved into a brand new,two story four bedroom home in suburban Indianapolis and my parents were sweating bullets wondering if they could make the 113.00 dollar a month mortgage payment. The World held its breath over the Cuban Missle Crisis but cooler heads prevailed and the nuclear holocaust was avoided. The Green Bay Packers beat the Giants 16 to 7 in the NFL title game as Lombardis Packers won the second of their five League Titles.

1976 was a Centennial year for our country. There was everything from airplanes, blimps, railroad locomotives and buildings painted with allegiant decorations to our country in color and view. But this number has much more meaning to the Boilermaker students, alumni and fans as the number of days since the Purdue Men's Basketball team lost a game to IU.

That was a looooong time ago, no matter how you look at it. I wonder which seems longer to IU fans. The year 1976, or how long since they last won.

1976 was a very good year for me…I was a freshman at Purdue in August of that year, beginning what were perhaps the four most impactful consecutive years of my life. Ever grateful, ever true!

1983 is the new number this fine, hot, sweaty Monday, 7/26. That is the number of days since IU won a men's basketball game against the Purdue Boilermaker men's squad. I did a little fact checking to see if my number was correct. Magically, my calculations have verified this number to be correct. Don't expect to hear from Facebook on this one.

Today is the 1990th day since the IU men's basketball team won a game over our favorite Purdue Boilermakers. It is getting close to a mile-stone day in this streak and the excitement is building. I know I am excited. And it is similar to the Olympics that our players are playing for Purdue as well as themselves. You can tell that when all of our former players mention that and also the fans of our Boiler team. That brings us together for one cause no matter how different each of us feel about any topic current in our society. That makes this worth while for me and shall not be down played by anyone as insignificant.

in 1990, Purdue upsets No. 13 Indiana 81-79 in overtime to win in Bloomington for the first time in five years. Purdue was unranked, but was No. 9 nationally when they thrashed IU 72-49 in West Lafayette to get its first sweep in five years.

For most iu fans, they probably think 1990 is when the current winless streak against Purdue actually started .

My memory is that Dave Barrett had an impact on this game. I just remember that we were at a party down at IU watching this game. Fun times!

1997 was a good year. I was a sophomore at Purdue and Math 261 had not yet crushed my soul. I look forward to Thursday. :)
