No idea how much of this is the refs (might be essentially none) or a change in how we are defending and are defended, but this is a pretty interesting shift:
First 24 games of the year:
Purdue free throw rate - 37.8 (56th nationally)
Purdue defensive free throw rate - 28.3 (67th nationally)
Last 4 games:
Purdue free throw rate - 25.1 (307th nationally)
Purdue defensive free throw rate - 43.3 (325th nationally)
Obviously some of that is having to foul late but we've really not intentionally fouled much in these 4 games. By my count, it's 16 out of 91 free throws shot by our opponents.
The one spot where I think we have adjusted is I think TKR has played softer defense in an effort to avoid fouls. We can dispute the relative value of that forever and not come to a firm conclusion.
