Really? You yourself have stated that you haven't personally experienced racism. While I, and I would be willing to guess others here, have been told that my opinion doesn't matter because I'm a straight white male. If not racist it is at a bare minimum discriminatory. All the others here saying my statement is ridiculous are blind to the realities of today with the modern left. This discussion is getting way beyond ridiculous.
Just to clarify. As far getting into Purdue, and then all of the jobs I’ve had since then I have not had any racism that held me back from those. But I have experienced the n-word yelled at me several times. A few “Karens” every now and then. Even at Purdue in the 80s someone burned a cross in the lawn outside the Black Cultural Center. Also, someone did something similar at the frat house of the black fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. during that time. So as far those events I would say hit me personally. I know friends, family members and folks nation wide that have experience racism 10 times worse. Therefore, if a white straight male experience all of what I mentioned to me plus the worse events that happen to other blacks then you may have a point. But you and I know that you don’t. So you need to stop with this crap you been throwing around.Really? You yourself have stated that you haven't personally experienced racism. They at least are considerate enough to listen when someone is talking to them. How can you be on a board and be so unwilling to participate, other than to throw sh*t out there. You contribute nothing constructive at all. I disagree equally with BNI and BBob but at least they are making points and forcing some thought, which I have to respect them for. They are value-added around here. You contribute no content at all. Responding to you is a waste of time for all concerned so I am suggesting to one and all that we disregard you in future. I fully intend to do so from this point onward. Congrats- you will be my first Ignore in over 10 years of daily reading on this board. You are a true pioneer. Go ahead and throw some twerp comment out about how little that concerns you but I will never see it. Think about growing up some time in the near future. It has much to recommend it.I feel like all this effort would be better spent talking to your kids.
She argued to not be kicked out. Begged for mercy. Demonstrated what she did was not on the same level. Did you miss all that testimony? Yeah you did because you're foolish and easily manipulated. Then as soon as they let her stay she cries racism. Honestly embarrassing behavior for anyone educated. But here you are crying...when you should be calling out the actions of elected officials. How? They failed to kick out the white lady that was right there with the 2 black dudes. That is racism 101.
All those things are despicable. I can't imagine these types of things are happening today. We'd hear about them wouldn't you think?Just to clarify. I was referring to cross burnings. I know there are still ignorant people that say the N word. They are happening today. In your circles, you may not and obviously don’t here about it.
Of course not. There wasn't a national news like there is today. That's why most people believe that school shootings are the worst they've ever been right now. The reality is that in the 1990's school shootings were worse, but we didn't have a national media to tell us about them like we do today. As far as the cross burning/racial graffiti at the Purdue Black Cultural Center and black fraternity house in the mid 80s, I bet you folks in this forum that was at Purdue during that time don’t even remotely remember or heard those racially charged events.
CNN and Faux News were both around in the 90’s.I was referring to cross burnings. I know there are still ignorant people that say the N word.

Tucker got his new gig!!Dude, a straight white male probably endures more racism today in this country than a black person.
yeah because the student body runs the school, right? The student body is there to learn and be taught things like free speech, honoring the rights of people the disagree with, etc. Anarchists refuse to hear dissent, shout down others rather than listen to what they have to say, throw rock, molotov cocktails, etc.Yeah, because the student body doesn't want them there.
Ted would like to talk to your kids about this.yeah because the student body runs the school, right? They didn't report on mass shootings like they do now. That was my point.CNN and Faux News were both around in the 90’s.
You must be a young whippersnapper and don’t remember. They reported on several mass shootings. Haven’t you heard of the phrase “going postal”? US post office shooting as well as other work place shootings were quite common in 80s and 90s and the news reported on these. In 1999, the Columbine High School mass shooting was the first school shooting that I can remember. They didn't report on mass shootings like they do now. That was my point.
I know they reported some, but not like they do today. Based on reporting, would you say there are more mass shooting deaths today or in the 90's?You must be a young whippersnapper and don’t remember. They reported on several mass shootings. There are definitely more mass shootings today. I’m watching news coverage of the one at the mall in Texas as I’m writing this right now.I know they reported some, but not like they do today. Based on reporting, would you say there are more mass shooting deaths today or in the 90's?
There were more mass shootings in schools the 90's.There are definitely more mass shootings today. I’m watching news coverage of the one at the mall in Texas as I’m writing this right now.
I was talking about more mass shoutings in total. Schools, workplace, malls parades, etc,.There were more mass shootings in schools the 90's.

More being killed in the shootings, perhaps. That I'm not sure.I was talking about more mass shoutings in total. Schools, workplace, malls parades, etc,.
Perhaps more folks are getting killed in the schools has risen since the 90s.
That’s what it appears to be.More being killed in the shootings, perhaps. That I'm not sure.
I thought free speech was allowed on college campuses, or did the US pass laws banning that recently? Heck, I guess some of the blue states may have and I missed that, or maybe just the local governments.Yeah, because the student body doesn't want them there.
Systemic Racism
Well, if the US didn't enslave human beings for 246 years and create jacked up Jim Crow laws for another 100 years. Then continue these systemic racial discrimination actions in subtle and less subtle ways there would not be any need for affirmative action. White women have been the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action more than any other group.Systemic Racism
noun [ U ]
/sɪˌstem.ɪk ˈreɪ.sɪ.zəm/ /sɪˌstem.ɪk ˈreɪ.sɪ.zəm/
Policies and practices that exist throughout a whole society or organization, and that result in and support a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race:
Affirmative Action
Af·firm·a·tive ac·tion
Affirmative action gives preference to qualified groups (specifically racial and ethnic minorities, women, older people, people with disabilities, and some veterans) in job hiring, admission to institutions of higher education, the awarding of government contracts, and other social benefits.
Affirmative Action passed by LBJ, a Democrat.
By definition a racist Law.
So quit crying BNI.
As a White Male Heterosexual I've done just fine while having to fight a Country that has laws on the books to
prejudice me.
Free speech doesn't mean "entitled to a speaking gig in a university auditorium"I thought free speech was allowed on college campuses, or did the US pass laws banning that recently? Heck, I guess some of the blue states may have and I missed that, or maybe just the local governments.
🤔. I will have to go read more on this subject.
So, if some silly libby group of the student body gets their collective panties in a wad, do they represent the entire student body?Yeah, because the student body doesn't want them there.
It does if someone from the the university invites you. Hint: Just because the students protest doesn’t mean someone at the university didnt schedule the event.Free speech doesn't mean "entitled to a speaking gig in a university auditorium"
And then the university uninvited the guest after they saw the student body react. Sucks to be them.It does if someone from the the university invites you. Hint: Just because the students protest doesn’t mean someone at the university didnt schedule the event.
How else does the speaker get in a room? All of the college campuses I have been to are now locked down to prevent that from happening, aka need a badge to get into a conference room in a building.

Not banned per se...meaning parents can get their underage kids any book they would like for them to read. Correct?Well, they are removing Capital America comics and Avengers graphic novels from the teen section in the library. Fine, they are not "banned" per se, but that is reducing teenagers' access to books, and way overdo it.
Here you go:

Judge rejects trans lawmaker Zooey Zephyr's effort to return to Montana House
Rep. Zooey Zephyr, the transgender Montana lawmaker who was silenced after telling Republicans they would have blood on their hands for opposing gender-affirming health care, cannot return to the statehouse House floor, a judge ruled Tuesday.www.pbs.org
I am not talking about corporations. Private companies do what they do. I am talking about legislators, who hold the power to pass laws, use that authority to silence the opposition. Can you please give me some examples that the Left are doing that just like the Right? I am genuinely interested in knowing.
@DG Boiler What exactly is funny about this? I can back everything I said with facts.Nobody is banning books. They are just having inappropriate books for children removed from libraries in which they have access to. The books are still available on the open market.
The legislators were removed in Tennessee for breaking house rules. Something that had never been done in Tennessee before. They were shouting and disrupting proceedings. Something that is completely out of character for a representative body.
As for the Montana example, I'm not familiar with it.
As far as people on the left trying to silence people on the right. Twitter files anyone??? That's pretty much what has/had been happening with most of social media. That's one massive example.
@DG Boiler Again, what's funny here? Or are you steeped in the media narrative on the "book banning"?I am all for less government. However, these liberal school boards and companies pushing these books on the kids need someone strong enough to push back. Have you listened to some of the things in these books? They are straight up pornography and do not belong in schools at all!
Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. That's not my decision.
The US didn't do this. Democrats did. Get the facts right.Well, if the US didn't enslave human beings for 246 years and create jacked up Jim Crow laws for another 100 years. Then continue these systemic racial discrimination actions in subtle and less subtle ways there would not be any need for affirmative action. White women have been the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action more than any other group.
You know for a fact that they got in only because of Affirmative action? You said that LBJ, a democrat signed affirmative action into law. You failed to mention that the father of affirmative action was a black Republican named Arthur Fletcher. He served under President Nixon as Assistant Secretary of Labor. later served under the Ford, Reagan, and Bush administrations.
You and others, when talking about your displeasure with affirmative action, fail to mention that your black conservative heroes, Justice Clarence Thomas and Dr. Ben Carson along with 20 or so other black males got into Yale through an affirmative action program.
Your take on this is hilariously backwards. But then again, I'd expect nothing less.Free speech doesn't mean "entitled to a speaking gig in a university auditorium"
You say this as if it's the entire student body. It's not even close. It's a small very vocal and sometimes violent minority. In fact, many times people that don't even go to school there come to protest. And then the university uninvited the guest after they saw the student body react. Sucks to be them.
This is part of the crap the media pulls. They use language to make something sound worse than it really is. A book ban would mean that NOBODY could ever get access to it again. Removing something from a school library because it's inappropriate for school children is not a book ban. But using the word ban gets people up in a tizzy. Not banned per se...meaning parents can get their underage kids any book they would like for them to read. Correct?
Dude, Democrats live in the US, correct? Plus, some of those Jim Crow laws were federal laws. Some were state laws. The US Supreme Court ruling, "Separate But Equal" comes to mind. This came out of the 1896 US Supreme Court case, Plessy vs. Ferguson. You must have fallen asleep during high school history class. The US didn't do this. Democrats did. Get the facts right.
You know for a fact that they got in only because of Affirmative action?
This argument is like saying that all men are women. Democrats are less than half of the population, yet you are claiming the entire population did this. That's a false argument.Dude, Democrats live in the US, correct? Plus, some of those Jim Crow laws were federal laws. Some were state laws. As far as Justice Clarence Thomas, Dr. Ben Carson, Dr. Henry Louis Gates getting into Yale though an affirmative action program, it is well documented. It’s no secret.

Clarence Thomas’ Long Battle Against Affirmative Action | FRONTLINE
FRONTLINE examines U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ stance on affirmative action, from his time in law school to the Supreme Court's June 29, 2023, ruling finding Harvard and UNC's affirmative action programs unconstitutional.www.pbs.org
What do you mean that Thomas didn’t benefit from affirmative action? He benefitted by getting into Yale as the article clearly states. Dr. Ben Carson and Dr. Henry Louis Gate along with several other black men also got into Yale during that time. This argument is like saying that all men are women. Democrats are less than half of the population, yet you are claiming the entire population did this. That's a false argument.
As to your link, it's well known that Clarence Thomas is against Affirmative Action. That doesn't mean he benefited from it.
Your*You're take on this is hilariously backwards. But then again, I'd expect nothing less.
