Butler v. Purdue Game Thread

Butler wants this game more than Purdue. Period.

I almost (almost...) hope Purdue loses this game because of that one reason. So far, Purdue needs to realize that you can't just show up against inferior competition and expect to win. You still have to execute, and WANT IT MORE THAN THE OTHER TEAM.

Playing flat footed defensively towards the end of the first half, and making dumb mistakes. Refs seem to be letting them play the game down low, where as Purdue is expecting fouls.
First of all, let's be honest and admit that "Butler is not inferior competition". Second, you're right in that the ref's are letting them play in the paint and Purdue needs to use that to their advantage.

We look like a bunch of choir boys thus far (outside of Biggie and AJH whose foul trouble has really hurt us). Butler wants this more than we do.

I'm sick of people blaming refs. This game has been called fair thus far. Have they missed a call or 2? Sure, but nothing egregious to one team or the other.

Per the graphic just shown.. we've had 3 ft"s to their 9... I'm okay with not calling things, just be consistent.

More importantly... there is just no fire right now. That is the bigger issue...

You can pick out one moment. At halftime, it was 4. It's currently 4. It'd be one thing if we were just playing a great game, playing our hearts out, etc. - but we're not.

I think we're being "exposed" a bit. Nothing wrong with it. I've been saying for weeks that turnovers are our #1 problem and as long as we're still having problems with them, it's going to expose things. Butler has 5 turnovers currently, Purdue has 14. That's the game right there.

We're playing a good team and we need to realize if we're ranked, we're gonna get every team's best game.

We're in trouble.

Just plain getting beat......no excuses......no blame......it's on the players, and Butler is taking it to Purdue.....not handling adversity too well.

Good thing is that there is time left....but better get it in gear soon, Boilers.

"Exposed" is an under-statement. Hill is lost, we have no back up for PJ, too many hurried shots.....unable to utilize 7' and 7'3". This Boiler team has been kicked in the nuts and they appear to like it.

Embarrassing performance tonight. Hope the team can learn from this game. Honestly, PG spot was exposed tonight. Butler punched us hard and we wilted.

Front line can't make up for all the unathletic guards. Can't defend and can't shoot. Butler is exposing us. Can't beat good teams with nothing from the guards.

This should put all the talk of #1 seeds and first round draft picks down for a bit. Simply outplayed at this point, we look lost

Purdue is getting discouraged due to the refs. The

I'll have a double shot of whatever you're having, please.

We've lived/died with Swanigan. Good game from a point/rebound perspective, but also has as many turnovers as all of Butler.

Yeah....that's the bad so far with CS......but he's playing hard out there, and you take the rest of his game 24/7/365.

like seeing Vince take it to the rack. ok, enough -- time to IMPOSE our will from here on out. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Which team is the more physical and dominant? (F these refs, but did anyone really think the Boilers would get the calls on the road / neutral site anyway? )

Credit Butler but sick of them being the cute lil Mid Major darlings.

Yes, Purdue is playing bad, but I think Butler is treated as NCAA darlings and are allowed to get away with a little more than most teams in terms of physicality. Letting them play in the post really isn't supposed to happen this year according to the NCAA points of emphasis.

Purdue doesn't want it. Pack it up, go home boys. Want to be the 2015-16 Colts? Buy into all the hype, and this is the result. You still got to show up and play hard. Just because you're better, albeit not by much, you can't just walk in and walk out, getting the W.

Letting them play in the post is not really a difference maker when our bigs are catching the ball and shooting fade-aways.

The amazing part is how little people are talking about turnovers on here. And as nice as it is to see Swanigan get some points/rebounds, he now has 6 turnovers alone. Butler as a team has 6.

Hey C'mon...when a team has 14 TO's.....15 as I type.....it's in trouble. Can't do that against the good teams. Butler is playing tough, but it's not the Arkansas or Louisville-type pressure defense.
