Burgess

We may not know the decision being made even after tonight’s game.

Hopefully he plays and we can move on.

I just don't believe in red shirts anymore. With NIL there's low chance of program loyalty. Just play them and he gets whatever minutes he gets.
Redshirting may address problems with the player's morale. They all want minutes, but the smart ones see reality and know when the numbers aren't in their favor. If they don't redshirt and work their butts off to get in the games, but don't play, they get frustrated. A year of eligibility wasted. If they redshirt, they don't have that expectation. They can get acclimated and improve their game, setting their sites on next year.

Unless you're a 2 year then head to the NBA type of player, I'm not sure why any kid wouldn't take the opportunity to RS, especially if their position is crowded. Take that time to get bigger, stronger and still compete with the starters in practice to get better.

Not correct
Hey thanks for the informative answer. Care to tell us the real answer?

It’s 30% or less for medical redshirt, apologies.

Looks like it’s none for regular redshirt. So if burgess suits up, he’s not going to redshirt. Can you confirm this is correct?

I agree. Play Burgess and Jacobson, and let them grow. Take some lumps early, but both will be ready in March. Next year they could be an absolutely deadly frontline with TKR.

I still am holding out hope for Furst, but Saturday looked like last year unfortunately.

I don't see it w

I must be the only one who thinks Berg is going to see a decent amount of playing time? Sets the best screens for teammates and can hold position well around the basket. Has decent hands. Needs more playing time to gain more comfort and confidence. Just my opinion.
I agree with you! so many people saying things after two exhibition games. That's hardly fair. I think you would know more about a guy who's been there for 4 years , then someone who's barely played any minutes.

Maaan. Cmon. Your “statement” is not 90% true for all athletes.

Jones left for a better team after 4 years and more opportunity and probably $$, just like Domask. Catchings left because he wanted guaranteed time that we continue to tell you is not guaranteed ever by painter.

I know you think all coaches are the same, you still think painter just uses “coach speak”…why you say that, I’m not sure as he’s never shown that. With that said, he recruits a certain type of player and probably talked to certain ones about redshirting. Burgess broke his foot JR year and may need a little more to develop. Or it may have been a plan all along. You need to stop generalizing every play as the same.

What player from Purdue has left after one year? Painter is fair with every one of them and they know what it takes to play more.

Haarms left cuz edey was coming in and he thought he could get more exposure out west (he was wrong). Nojel left for whatever those reasons were and that turned out to be horrible for his career…and same for Haarms.
Put is. I’ve said 20,000 times that Catchings left because he wanted guaranteed playing time and knew he wasn’t going to get it playing behind Tkr! And painter was never going to give him playing time at the 3! Because painter doesn’t like playing small forwards at the 3. Have you never read my posts? You keep saying you keep telling me Catchings wanted guaranteed playing time.

I keep saying Catchings wanted guaranteed playing time and also that he knew he’d never get that playing time at the position he wanted to play!

Aren’t we both saying the same thing? The only difference is I included additional info as to why Catchings realized he’d never get playing time, guaranteed or not guaranteed!

It looks like Harris is taking over at the 3. Harris is a guard and that’s what painter likes to play at the 3. If you are a small forward and you want to play the 3, Purdue is not the place for you because painter doesn’t like using a small forward in that position. Painter would rather use a small forward at the 4 than the 3.
