Rasheed Wallace thinks Zach should be the overall #1 pick in the draft...finally someone with sense.

It's ironic that Rasheed Wallace of all people has the most common sense of anyone who's weighed in on Zach Edey in the draft.

“I’m running my whole thing through Edey dawg, number one. Lets just say hypothetically the Wizards, and he goes there, I’m building around him dawg,” Wallace said. “Wherever he goes is going to be a bad team, just like they’re doing with Wembanyama in San Antonio. San Antonio is f—n terrible but what happened? They drafted Wembanyama and he’s doing his thing but he’s still taking his pops on the chin though. It’s going to be the same thing with Edey.”

"But Edey I think should be number one pick, if any GM’s got sense, that’s the number one pick for sure.”

They say imitation is the highest compliment!

I see many programs rushing out to obtain a big man to help center their offense and defense. IU just hired Ballo (I mean offered him a great education to come to their school). But several other programs are looking to beef up at the 5. Zach not only paved the way for bigs across the sport, he continues to influence the game as he departs.

Hoping Purdue reloads and comes out shooting in the fall!!

Article on Big 10 Basketball financials.......

Attached is an article (Op-Ed) on the financials of the Big 10 Basketball. The writer has a pro-Illinois stance and I think the financials he is referring are from last year's season. I don't think that this season that was just completed has been compiled yet. Still, there are some interesting findings in the article. It seems that Purdue is not leading in things like revenue, ticket sales, net revenue but rather in the top 5-6 or so. Schools, like Illinois, Michigan State, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, seemed to have better metrics than Purdue.

I think this article is rather a 30,000-foot review of the financials and not getting into details. For example, what schools have the highest priced tickets (individual games or season) and exactly what sources can contribute to revenue generated and does that vary from school to school. Likewise, the budgets can greatly vary between schools as well.

What are your thoughts on this and do you have extra information that is not included in this op-ed?

Purdue recruiting Women’s basketball portal nuggets

Wanted to drop some women’s basketball recruiting nuggets in here as things are heating up for Katie Gearlds and company.

- Purdue already landed Destini Lombard on Monday, who was the WAC DPOY at Stephen F. Austin. Averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and four assists per game last season.

- Mahri Petree, the younger sister of Lasha Petree, also took an official over the weekend. I like where Purdue stands with her as well.

- Two more portal players are expected to visit over the next week or so.

The first being Akron forward and two-time All-MAC performer Reagan Bass. She will be on campus tonight for an overnight visit. She is coming off averaging 16 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. Would be an instant starter at the five.

Ohio State guard Rikki Harris will also be visiting at some point next week. Harris is an Indianapolis native that was a five-star recruit out of high school. She has served in somewhat of a Draymond Green-type role for the Buckeyes.

Zach Edey is the most significant men's Boilermaker Bballer ever

I think it's hard to argue against that. And, I'm grateful that CMP offered him, he accepted, and then set about working his butt off to become a 2-time NPOY, and took Purdue to the NCAA title game. But, is he the BEST player to ever to wear a Purdue uni? For me, I don't think anyone comes close to Big Dog. So, I'd have to rank Zach second behind GRob despite all of the records and trophies he leaves with. Zach was a 20-10 guy. Glenn was a 30-10 guy. I would have loved to have had #13 play at least full three seasons. That probabaly was never going to happen even if he hadn't lost his freshman year to Prop 48. But, I think he would have obliterated the Purdue and B1G record books had he played 3 full years.

Destini Lombard commits to Purdue

Boilers land Destini Lombard out of the transfer portal. 5-9 guard was WAC DPOY, averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and four assists per game.
