Tom reporting Walters likely to return…

It’s very simple: if we have $12 million in rev share for the football program to spend in the 2025-26 school year, let the new coach spend it in the Dec 2025 portal, instead of having a moron blow it on a bunch of guys who can’t play.

Any good players we have next season will be in that Dec 2025 portal anyway.
Lol so you want a new coach to come into a program with no talent at all, and then hope they can win enough games to entice the following season?

And guess what, you're going to have to spend big bucks several years in a row to get to a good place. So might as well start now.

And no, Walters is not a "moron." He's just not ready to be a head coach.

This perverse idea of making the team as bad as possible as some sort of punishment to Walters or the AD by not wanting to improve the talent is something I don't get.

OT!! - IU STINKS!!!!

Wait…his son is involved in track? Who knew…
😆
Maybe it's cross country. Either way, he acted like his son was a high major P5 basketball recruit talking to Duke, UConn and UNC.
Turns out, he was like a NAIA level cross country runner and wasn't even eligible for a scholie. But Wol still thought that made him an expert on the recruiting process.

Tom reporting Walters likely to return…

I’m not shocked Purdue has struggled this year, given the circumstances you list, but the mini- renaissance late last season should have been an indication that CRW was building something— he himself said he had “everything he needed” to compete…

September 2024 rolls around , and we witness this absolute disaster of a team: poorly prepared, poorly coached, and consistently unwilling to compete. That is NOT a $$$ issue, it’s a leadership issue.

Should Purdue allocate a LOT more to the football program? Absolutely, but that in no way excuses the proven fact that CRW is a terrible coach.

His job this year was to demonstrate the capacity to teach technique, implement a scheme and a culture of competitiveness In order for kids to get better over time— I see no evidence of that.

I have a simple question: is ANYONE on this roster a better player today than they were a year ago at this time???

I sure as hell don’t see it.
I mean obviously that wasn't true. Did you expect him to say, boy we don't have enough to compete right now? None of the experts believed him, that's why every publication had us last in the conference.

Ok he's a terrible coach. He's still here next season. We still need more talent.
Nothing changes about that, no one is "excusing" anything by pointing out we have more than one problem.

He's gone after next season. This perverse idea of making the team as bad as possible as some sort of punishment to Walters or the AD by not wanting to improve the talent is something I don't get.

So even if one thinks he's an idiot who should go do something else and never coach another football game at any level, why wouldn't you still want more talent and NIL for the NEXT coach to work with?

Why wouldn't you want to start working on those issues now?

And yes, recognizing that almost ANY coach would have had a huge hill to climb with our situation and quite frankly probably wouldn't have made a bowl game either season is valid. That says nothing about whether or not Walters has done a bad job. Or excuses the performance. It recognizes we have multiple, systemic problems with the program that aren't solved simply by "get a coach who doesn't suck."

Names to consider for our next football coach?

People that like to find something to complain about. Coach Prime has been getting a lot of haters since he got to Boulder. There are a lot of haters that have always wanted him to fail. Been like that for years.
Since Coach Prime seems to have too much baggage, I think Purdue should go after Liberty head coach Jamey Chadwell. At Coastal Carolina he went 31-6 in his last three years and in two years at Liberty he is 21-3. We could probably triple this guy's salary.

Indiana Getting Pushed Out?

What happens if A&M wins Saturday? And wins the title game? What are your odds A&M gets in? 10%?
I'm not sure what you're asking here because you asked a lot of questions. If A&M wins both, they're in. 100%. No way to they end up behind Tulane AND the B1G 12 which would be the only way they're kept out. But I can't see them winning both. Stranger things have happened.

Indiana Getting Pushed Out?

Yeah there are 2 main headlines right now.

1. Can the committee kick Indinia out because of SOS if certain things happen. I had Clemson at 12 this week, but I think they are quite a bit behind 11 if they were to do raw number rankings/votes/whatever. It was easy for me to rank the Top 11, that's for sure. Clemson beating SC would be better than the alternative, simply because Clemson is higher than SC and they have the brand. But I think they'd have to blow out SC to make a difference, and that's even a maybe. Plus there could be other upsets above IU. Right now IU is -2000 to make the playoff on my site.

2. Tulane. If you pay attention to the schedules, I think it's unlikely. Probably as unlikely as IU not making it. Arizona St, Colorado and BYU all have the easiest games on the B12 slate this week, 2 of them at home. Assuming at least 2 of them win, you will have a B12 champion at 11-2. Even if it's a team below Tulane now, I foresee the committee bumping them up. Although Tulane does play 2 challenging games. I'd actually love to see it, except for the fact that I put in a parlay several weeks ago with BYU making the playoff.
What happens if A&M wins Saturday? And wins the title game? What are your odds A&M gets in? 10%? Assuming tennessee beats vandy, SMU and Miami win and go to title game, Georgia wins, and the three big ten teams all win. Who would get bumped for indiana? Would they punish smu for playing in a title game and losing? Or punish tennessee because A&M would make it 4 sec teams?

OT!! - IU STINKS!!!!

I didn't even think about a game this early. Maybe I can see it in a few? Went to a high school game the other night to see a few coaches at Tipton. Told Cliff Hawkins the next time he goes to Matt's practice I want to go and he said he doesn't get to go during the winter much. Told him I would love to go. Speaking of defense, I saw a team that I cannot recall setting any screen the whole game...no ball screens, no off ball screen...the closest was going down the court and rubbing the top of the 1-3-1 with a body. All dribble drive while generally most waited until they had the ball to dribble as well...sometimes passing up an open shot to dribble into a blocked shot. !

Why I mention is the little I've seen of IU there wasn't a much involvement of players if they didn't have the ball.
Nothing has changed since the last 3 Woodson teams, TJ. Don’t guard the 3 well, can’t shoot the 3 well, don’t take enough 3s, don’t rebound well, don’t bring the energy on defense. A lot of ball watching on both sides of the floor.
