As much as I dont want to talk about Indiana....

I’m a UGA alum bud. I get to watch plenty of real football. Enough to know you haven’t played anybody all year. Youll get your chance tomorrow. I actually think IU is a good team and will absolutely hang and has an OK chance to win tomorrow.

That said, if you can’t beat the 1 top 25 team in your schedule and you bought out of the other one…you can’t seriously think you deserve the playoff after beating 10 teams with losing records.
congrats on beating that football power UMASS yesterday.

“IF” There Is To Be HC Change

If your Christmas wish is for Walters to get fired, you are going to be disappointed. The school administration is not committed to having a winning football program, so Walters will most likely be there through the end of his contact which means Purdue will be the Big 10 cellar dweller during that time. The only thing that could change that would be if some deep pocket alum would be willing to put up the money to buy out Walters contract!

BoBo needs to have a deal in place with another Coach NOW or be prepared to break the Bank with someone like Kiffin, Kansas’s HC or another HC to turn this around! Personally I am not positive one way or the other on Walter’s return but changes, $$$, have to be made to fix this!
First, let's consider why this year's team is so bad. Walters did OK last year but this year's team is pathetic. Why?

Well, we were totally whipsawed by the portal. Our best players left and the ones who came in to Purdue were guys why couldn't cut the muster and were probably nudged into the portal by their coaches.

We need a coach who know how to work the portal system, knows the back alley of NIL deals and knows how to recruit. There's an old saying: "Football isn't the X's and O's, it's the Jimmys and the Joes."

Ohio State

the sec and big ten with a diluted influence spread the wealth to spite the sec and maybe B1G? Or maybe even the opposite they agreed to redo the criteria after this round are they worried the sec and B1G will come down hard if they don’t get what they want and effectively shut out the others?
Interesting. I think it's hilarious that Bama is most likely out of the first college playoff, and there's a pretty good chance that Georgia is as well. If Tenn. And the remaining contenders could all be squeaking in. I think it makes a "super League" all the more likely, with schedules that include powder puff non-cons and a smattering of "Washington Generals" teams in the league to allow for some easy wins.

Ohio State

BYU is in the B12. B12 is not getting more than 1 team in.
agree. But if one of those other 3 teams win b12 championship you will have low ranked teams getting in as AQ.

Also worth noting if A&M wins at home next week vs Texas, they will be in SEC championship game against Georgia for a chance for an AQ.

There are a lot of teams that can get in. Everyone acts like it’s decided. Right now I could about 20 teams that can get in.

Ohio State

Uh if someone loses in the championship game it’s still an automatic bid for the winner. So that actually works against indiana. If clemson beats South Carolina next week or Miami beats smu in championship game. If Miami loses next week then clemson plays smu and good chance they both go if clemson beats the cocks. Long way of saying any way you want the acc to play out there’s a decent chance there could be 2 teams. Same with big 12. Colorado, Arizona state, Iowa state could all get a spot and take an automatic qualifier. It’s possible the acc, byu, and b12 could have AQ out of top 10 so indiana would have to finish in top 9 to get in.
BYU is in the B12. B12 is not getting more than 1 team in.

That was a nice diversion

Was really nice to see the new guys start positive. Couldn't ask for a better couple of first baskets than Trey in the lane, Myles for a lob dunk and Cam for a 3. it was exciting to see the lineup we always figured was the most talented on the floor together starting for the first time. Hopefully was the early branding of a new memorable team in in the post-Zach era. Nice win, everyone gets minutes, good stuff. Trey is looking like the guy Matt talked about now. Playing bigger too. I still like he and Furst together. Furst plays good D and has been our best "man" rebounder aside from Trey. Thought Big Red looked pretty good and looked more relaxed. Quicker too, as he will as he gets more real game experience. Hands were pretty quick grabbing that loose ball the one time. ;)

we're not going to get a big name guy, hoping for Bronco Mendenhall, an established coach w/ a good resume. No more unproven guys, just hope it's not a guy like Chryst.
Mendenhall quit for a couple years to become a “better person and coach”. I don’t think he will be motivated by money. He’s from Utah and spent nearly his entire career in the desert, except for Virginia (and briefly Oregon state after he graduated from there) and he had to leave Virginia. Just doesn’t seem like a good plan to build a program around.

thought Purdue was the answer to the trivia ?

For all of you that love the strength of schedule and say that it actually matters, I’ll pose a question.

What if Walter’s and BoBo realized how tough the Purdue schedule was this year. And they use it as an excuse to bring back Walters. For another year? As it stands now, Iowa and Illinois will probably both end up in the top 25. Purdue’s schedule could end up as being the toughest in the NCAA this year. And maybe even the toughest ever.

And we almost won 4 games. As Walters would say……… We were so close.
as I have said before, yeah it was a tough schedule but we didn't beat ANY of the weaker teams on the schedule

OT. Geeeezzzzz boys from Wiscon real

NE beat CRTN. Got some good portal guys.

Wisconsin on the other hand, has two athletic high scoring guards. Team puts up tons of points, their D isn't quite there yet

Their coach has shown how to blend recruiting with a portal or two. Hopefully, this years portal version doesn't give up on the season half way through.
or hopefully it does.

Which would you rather?

I think Walters is staying unless there is a major overhaul with bobinski going out as well, but…

I want to beat IU. And if we do I’m ok keeping Walters. 2 wins is not acceptable and we had some embarrassing losses but if we win it will show remarkable improvement as indiana is a good team on a road game. I thought we actually looked decent against msu. Another road game with some toigh calls and no calls. But I would say that was our third best game.

I do think as the season went on we got more disciplined, less stupid penalties, didn’t give up as easy.

I’ll just say we need to lose this crazy defense with one linebacker if we keep him. And the offense will be whole new situation.
there is a 1% chance of beating iu, they have way more to play for, coming off a loss, and a coach who has the kind of attitude to run it up

Ohio State

IMO they need to find a good way to factor in SOS. There have been way too many games where someone was highly ranked because they beat up on lower teams.. only for them to lose when going up against teams that play ranked opponents more and win. Like yesterday between O$U and indinia :D
The committee is way smarter on this than us. Politics could be a factor. But SOS is a major driver, florida state knows all about that! Sagarin is not out yet but the ESPN power ratings have them 11th after all the games and a 97.7% chance of making the playoffs (basically they just need to beat us!). But they still have 5 SEC teams in the top 8 and if those 5 get spots then there’s not a spot for indiana.

Loosiers Failed Their Only Real Test...

1. Strength of schedule will have improved quite a bit after yesterday, not just because they played OSU, but also because Nebraska, UM, and Washington are all now above .500 and bowl eligible.

2. Really good teams lose sometimes, especially on the road to even better teams. It’s way better than getting smoked by Oklahoma, Kansas, Auburn, or Florida. Like Bama, Colorado, A&M, or Ole Miss did.

3. IU’s college football playoff ESPN chances before yesterday? 96%. IU’s chances as of this morning? 98%.
