BoBo needs to have a deal in place with another Coach NOW or be prepared to break the Bank with someone like Kiffin, Kansas’s HC or another HC to turn this around! Personally I am not positive one way or the other on Walter’s return but changes, $$$, have to be made to fix this!

we're not going to get a big name guy, hoping for Bronco Mendenhall, an established coach w/ a good resume. No more unproven guys, just hope it's not a guy like Chryst.
The SEC is tougher than the B1G so a coach like Kiffin might be the kind of Coach to take the job if the $$$ is right!

Mendenhall quit for a couple years to become a “better person and coach”. I don’t think he will be motivated by money. He’s from Utah and spent nearly his entire career in the desert, except for Virginia (and briefly Oregon state after he graduated from there) and he had to leave Virginia. Just doesn’t seem like a good plan to build a program around.

First, let's consider why this year's team is so bad. Walters did OK last year but this year's team is pathetic. Why?

Well, we were totally whipsawed by the portal. Our best players left and the ones who came in to Purdue were guys why couldn't cut the muster and were probably nudged into the portal by their coaches.

We need a coach who know how to work the portal system, knows the back alley of NIL deals and knows how to recruit. There's an old saying: "Football isn't the X's and O's, it's the Jimmys and the Joes."

If your Christmas wish is for Walters to get fired, you are going to be disappointed. The school administration is not committed to having a winning football program, so Walters will most likely be there through the end of his contact which means Purdue will be the Big 10 cellar dweller during that time. The only thing that could change that would be if some deep pocket alum would be willing to put up the money to buy out Walters contract!

If we're retaining him because we are looking around and don't like our realistic options I can deal with that. The most important thing is getting the right guy.

If we're retaining him because our administration is cheap or actually believes in him, that's negligence on their part.

If Kiffin goes anywhere, he goes east, ironically to the school that just beat him yesterday. But Florida has experienced a bit of a rejuvenation the latter half of the year so Napier may be safe.

I would think that if Walters was truly 'safe' and being given next year, the administration would be talking him up and 'supporting' to help with recruiting.

The silence is definitely deafening.

I thought it was also interesting on Saturday, when Lance was being presented with his rings during the Bball game, it wasn't Bobinski doing the presentation.

It's going to take a coach that has a winning system that a player can trust. On defense, you can clearly see the body language of certain players and can tell that they do not trust the scheme......

I remember being at a basketball game during the latter stages of the Haze era, where Burke got booed during a presentation.

Maybe the AD is getting the NIL war chest numbers together ?

They need to have that stuff in place if/when they start interviewing.

That will be the first question asked by all candidates.

I have a feeling Purdue’s NIL is in bad shape. And the buyout money is going to basically come from that pot of money. And the new NIL ruling may require schools to back pay athletes for NIL money they could have earned.

There have been many articles showing Purdue’s revenue is one of the lowest in the BIG 10. Part of the NIL. Ruling was that schools are supposed to pay out a certain amount. I have a feeling Purdue doesn’t have the money to give.

Each Big Ten school will earn $80-100 million in TV revenue this year. We should be able to dwarf what schools in the Big 12, ACC and G5 conferences pay out. This includes salaries for coaches, NIL and any payments to athletes.

And remember, that huge payout is every year going forward. The Purdues and Iowas and Northwesterns will be earning TRIPLE the money that FSU, Clemson, Colorado and Louisville will be making, circa $90 million vs $30 million. Every year: 2024, 2025, 2026 . . .

If history is any guide, we need to hire a pass - oriented guy…

When Purdue has mattered in the realm of CFB, we’ve featured a lethal passing attack; prior attempts to fashion a pound-and- ground approach in West Lafayette have (to be charitable) — floundered.
