I'd guess that Murphy and Loyer are hardly ever on the court together. Maybe only in situation where we're down late and we need extra 3-point shooting. Sounds like Murphy's bigger so could play some Heide-4 like Purvis said. Not sure about his rebounding skills. In that case it could be with Braden and 2 of Cox/Harris/Mayer with 1 big, Jacobsen probably for the rim protection and rebounding.

The possibilities are really endless.
Your last sentence is really it. Painter has options now. A lot. I think he wanted options for this season. I think he's going to use some of those options. He has a lot of them as you say.

Would be a crime if TKR plays less than 30. He’s the best PF in the country.

Believe they have said Murphy will be more of a small ball 4–similar to Heide.

And we have Murphy who we hope can shoot like him, but we don’t know if he can at a high level of competition. Hoping he can. But I think Murphy is gonna play 5-8 minutes at the 4 and no 3 time.

To play devils advocate and to to ask what you did above…where’s the last time paint switched his offense up with the core 3 back?

Cox was the only one that showed he could go on a heater and him and fletch can play together. Maybe Mayer dips into fletch’s mins.

I think he was focused on the front court with Cluff and Murphy. Mayer is more for the future.
Mayer is only for the future if he's overrated. If he's not he's a one or two year player at best.

I haven't seen anything restricting Murphy to the 4. We've already got four guys at the 4-5. Unless Paint is redshirting Burgess.

TKR played less than 31 minutes last season when he was basically all we had down low. Some of that was rest, some of it was foul trouble. I don't think the line of crime is 31 minutes or 28 minutes. Why is 30 minutes this magic line? For Loyer and now for TKR? Big men need rest. Not everyone is a freak like Edey. We have the players to rest him, and to spell him when he occasionally gets into foul trouble which we all know happens.

If each of the big 3 play 3-4 minutes less this upcoming season it's not even going to be noticeable to people watching the game. Loyer played three minutes less a game when we had Jones. Did it somehow hurt us? I think having three big men who can mix and match gives us a lot of flexibility.

Now who knows, maybe DJ isn't ready. Maybe Cluff is overrated. Maybe Mayer is overrated. Maybe Murphy never leaves the bench. Maybe Benter plays mop up minutes. Maybe we have to run it back with the same minutes as last season.

Maybe we take Colvin and Heide's 37 minutes and that's all that Mayer, Murphy, Cluff, DJ, and Benter get. Yeah, we could see Burgess not play but he didn't take up many minutes last season anyways.

It's possible, I just find it unlikely. Someone's minutes are going down at least a little to make room for these guys. To me three of those guys minimum are getting 10+, and because I "trust Painter" to identify talent, I think it's going to be closer to 20 a game for at least three of them some if not most games. That's 25-30 minutes more you're going to have to find out of Colvin and Heide's minutes. So if you think that's possible, and it appears you aren't high on Mayer being one of them, but you have to think Cluff and DJ are each at least 20 right? Where do those extra minutes come from?

Not sure how China's police state has anything to do with the type of government and economy the United States is running?

You are fine with being dependent on a country that uses child and slave labor, not to mention conducting a genocide against its Uyghur Muslims? If so, you a perfect Martha Vineyard dem -- as long as it doesn't impact you, you are fine with it (just like illegal immigration).

@Katscratch (also known as DG) has gone off to sulk, but when he returns he will be proud of you.

Saudi increased production even though there is no shortage. Likely reason is that they are working with Trump to squeeze Russia on gas prices.

Using child and slave labor is Stalinism, so anything we do to reduce our dependence on the China police state trends us away from Stalinism. Right?

Again, if Fletch plays 30+ minutes and Smith plays near 40 you only have 15 minutes total for the new guys unless you are going to take minutes away from Cox and Harris.

TKR probably loses a few minutes too because again there are way more quality players on this team next season then possibly Purdue has ever had.
Would be a crime if TKR plays less than 30. He’s the best PF in the country.
When's the last time we had three guys who could all legit play center at a high level?

We have 9 guys at the 1-3. Painter didn't bring in Murphy to ride the pine. He didn't bring in Mayer to play 5-10 minutes.
Believe they have said Murphy will be more of a small ball 4–similar to Heide.
Loyer played so many minutes bc Colvin didn't make the jump, and bc Heide spent time at the 4 which opened up minutes at the 1-3 so you could play Loyer 30+ bc you didn't have as much competition for minutes and you didn't have anyone who could shoot like him, and you really only had the personnel to play one way.
And we have Murphy who we hope can shoot like him, but we don’t know if he can at a high level of competition. Hoping he can. But I think Murphy is gonna play 5-8 minutes at the 4 and no 3 time.
Now, as you've correctly pointed out, we have variability in play styles possible now. We could go two big, spacing out with shooters which in those scenarios that's a Fletch game.

Or we can go more fast paced with DJ anchoring down low and putting athletic guys around him, that's not a Fletch game.
To play devils advocate and to to ask what you did above…where’s the last time paint switched his offense up with the core 3 back?
We also have alternatives for when Fletch is off, and yes, that happens. We also have players that can get into a heater which might delay another players return.

For the second one, I was responding to Mediaexpert's statement that it was actually a good thing that toys are more expensive. That is a tough position to hold, but it is in line with Trump's statements that fewer dolls and pencils will be available to American families. So it seems like Republicans are now focused on making American lives harder? Kind of seems like Republicans are trending towards Stalinism doesn't it?

I don't know any specifics in regards to gas prices. The administration may have done something, they may not have yet. I really don't know. From the quick search I did, it sounds like OPEC has increased production and gas consumption has not increased much.

I agree mostly, but I would point out that we have a couple new additions that could completely flip a bunch of this on it's head. TKR was the go to because we had no center at all. You add Jacobsen and Cluff to the mix and we should see a lot more balance in our offense if they end up being who we think they will be. Jacobsen especially could make a case for a driver over a 3 pt specialist by spacing the floor, which would devalue the skillset Fletcher brings relative to more athletic guards. Doesn't mean he doesn't play a bunch just that with a 3 pt. shooting center, you have an element that hasn't existed since he started playing at Purdue.

The other factor that could impact Fletch is the potential for a swarming D and transition squad. Fletch is decent at transition, but not at the swarming D. If we play fast and try for a lockdown D it could minorly impact his minutes.

That said I think the likelihood is Fletch plays his 30 as he did last year or maybe loses a few minutes per game to the new blood. As others have pointed out he was nearly an all B1G last year, and is very likely to be the biggest 3 pt threat on the team, and we all know 3 pt. shots are the #1 in modern basketball.

One purpose of the tariffs is to manufacture crucial products in the US. If these products continue to be made overseas, Trump's demands on foreign nations are only good enough to a point. Putin knows we are limited in throwing around his weight because Putin during the Biden years made stronger alliances with China. Xi also recognized our limitations and gambled by unleashing the Wuhan Flu. We need to suck up higher prices until the other countries realize that the US is their most prominent market place, and they better redo their one-sided deals or go broke. Once the deals are made, we will have the money to start reducing our debt, and every citizen will have more money in their pocket, with their dollar going further. I am surprised that people cannot see the big picture. Please remember three things that cannot be changed overnight: 1. We have been in perpetual wars for 60 years. 2. We have been building there's of the world with foreign aid and one-sided tariffs for 80 years. 3. 95 years ago, immigrants came here legally to help make America better, to learn English, and to assimilate into American culture.

Within two years, our economy will be doing much better, crime will be reduced, there will be equal opportunity for all, and International peace will prevail.
It might help me understand the big picture if you explained these problems. Maybe that's what I am missing. Here are two questions:

- When you say redo the one-sided deals, what do you mean? Which deals need to be redone?
- Same with the one-sided tariffs. Which ones are you concerned about?

Within two years huh. Well, we will be able to track those things, so time will tell in time for the next presidential election.

Agree. If DJ, Cluff, Meyer or West come in and are all world it could significantly change things up, although my view on how that might happen is different than yours.

Hopefully a fun season with some pleasant surprises as to how these guys develop and fit in.

9 man rotation prediction with minutes

More facts than opinion really. Start with the facts that 1) Fletch played at an all-conference level last season, making HM on low volume as a (distant) third scoring option, 2) the offense next season will continue to start and end with Braden and Trey, and everyone else's job is to fit in around them 3) MP has on multiple occasions said that Fletch does exactly what he's asked to do on offense, drawing attention from Trey and Braden, making good decisions, hitting open shots.

Your argument then becomes that you'll have two players who come in and perform at an all-league level while complementing Braden and Trey better than Fletch. It's just not going to happen. The only real example of a player like Fletch seeing his minutes materially reduced was Trevion, who was pushed out by a future two-time NPOY and top ten draft pick. Even if a guy like that is on the roster, you'd need two of those guys to get Fletch below 25 minutes, as Zach and Trevion couldn't play together, but Fletch can play with Braden and any of the other guards.

Lol.. the only reason they are overpriced is because of the tariffs.. And these are just examples from one article. Here’s another example that I posted earlier:

The price increases include increases for tape, a fishing real, and a heating pad. By your logic, I’m guessing you think Americans should just manually hold things together, fish with their hands, and heat things with fire?

For the record, the defense of toys being a bad thing for kids is wild.
Thank you for proving my case. Yes, I guess I could make a case for expensive toys that are not educational can be bad for kids. But that was not my point. My point is that toys and the other things you mentioned are not necessities. We can go a few months without them. The shortages under Biden were dire. However, the big crushing "deal" is if we did not get pharmaceuticals and electrical components, especially for our military and self-defense. This is critical.

One purpose of the tariffs is to manufacture crucial products in the US. If these products continue to be made overseas, Trump's demands on foreign nations are only good enough to a point. For gasoline prices, maybe. But we will have to see what that means. Right now companies are still raising prices, so it has not led to the impact you are describing. I am also not actually sure why gas prices are decreasing. What has the administration done to cause it?

Gasoline prices have a big impact on trucking costs for goods, and thus lower gas costs exerts a downward pressure on the price of goods. Not to mention, lower gas prices mean savings for consumers.

You were saying Trump's comments on toys were 'wild', and I agree they were highly unpolitical - but to keep it in perspective for you, there are ethical considerations in buying toys (and many other products) made in the CCP police state. Child and slave labor, for example. I don't know if that bothers Trump or you, but it should.

For ethical concerns, yes, that is something to consider, and we should take steps to make sure the foreign companies we use for manufacturing are ethical.

Liberal loathing's...

He came in "legally" under Biden, but then violated by overstating his VISA, which made him illegal. He later was given a work permit, while being in illegal status. The work permit expired. He was here illegally, and Mayorkas did nothing to track or remove said "illegals". Mayor kashmir was Biden's "see nothing" guy, so it all goes back to Biden and his border policies.

I don't quite understand your point. This is great. It's too bad Republicans do not care about the cost of goods.

Don't quite understand what you are getting at here either. Toys are just an example of things getting more expensive. You'll see in that yahoo business link prices of over 1600 different SKUs increasing because of the tariffs, toys, while a large percentage, only had 257.
