WKU was the only team to beat Marshall last year. While they squeezed past Marshall in a shootout were over 120 points were scored, they beat Vandy by 2 in a low scoring affair in Nashville tonight.

While I don't think Marshall will score a zillion points on Sunday, WKU's performance at Vanderbilt suggests that Marshall is a worthy foe. If we win in Hunington, it would be huge.

I think you over estimate how good Vandy is. James Franklin's Vandy teams were good.

Now, they are back to being the doormat of the SEC. They stink.

Exactly! They only had 257 total yards for the game from an offense that returned everybody. Had over 600 yds against marshall! Don't care what Vegas says, we should win this game Sunday. A loss will be unacceptable.

Vandy is an OK defensive team, but they really killed themselves on offense last night. 3 trips inside the 10 yard line yielded 0 points (two interceptions in the end zone and one missed field goal).

There were folks on this board that said Hazell sucks because Kent State tanked the year after he left. By that logic, and based on Vandy's performance immediately after his departure, Franklin sucks too...

Interesting viewpoints on Marshall on the board. Many don't give us much respect. We lost that WKU game when they were on fire and clicking, and our best player was hurt.

Devon Johnson is 2nd round pick for a RB good. It would bot surprise me to see him run for 250 yards sunday. But he alone, can't beat you. The only ? mark we truly have is at QB. If we get decent QB play i think this is a 42-17 type win at home for us. Bad QB play and turnovers, and it will be close.

Marshall plays very well at home and it is very loud at field level with 36k there with the field below ground level.

I look forward to the game, but those buying into the notion that cusa is as weak as the media says se are are wrong. UTSA may be one of our worst teams and they almost beat Arizona at their place. Watch UTEP and Arkansas tomorrow, that may be much closer than many people think.

Just remember that the worse loss Purdue had last year was by 24 points. If Marshall wins by 25 points,I will be shocked. What does UTEP and Arkansas have to do with Purduevs.Marshall?

Purdue saw 7 of the top 20 RBs in total yards last year. Stopped some, but limited most enough where we had realistic chances to compete with those much better teams

We also have an elite corner duo, that will allow our safety's to play run more on early downs and force you into obvious pass situations.

This game will be a slug fest. No way Marshall gets in the 40s

It sounds like many are confident we can keep Marshall in the low 30's. The problem is I don't see shoop cracking 30 pts against anyone.

My biggest concern is Purdue's offense. Last year we were impotent. I think we will need to score at least 28 points to win on Sunday. While Marshall is not a defensive juggernaut, our offense is a huge ?

Marshall was a top 25 defense last season. Through the first half of the season, the only scores against us were basically in trash time (the anomally being wku) And in the Marshall camp we expect our defense to be better.

I heard how we wouldn't score x amount literally 10 times last season. If we don't score 40 pts, i would be shocked.

Im not a sunshine pumper fan either, i pick almost 80% every weekend gambling, I am passionate about college football. Purdue has size and looks like they can be a physical team, and yes you have some NFL corners, but that won't stop mcmanus from making some amazing plays, as a VERY physical WR that is also a huge man. Our slot game is where it is at, so if your LB and safeties can't cover that, we will nickel and dime you down the field. And DJ is a special RB. A once in 2 decades type of back. He is the absolute best RB i have ever seen at Marshall, and that includes Ahmad Bradshaw. He is 6'1 237 lbs and runs a sub 4.5, and he can catch out of the backfield and is a punishing in pass protection.

My biggest concern is QB. We can't turn it over a bunch of times. I am sticking with 42 pts on our side. Somewhere around 20 on yours

You're using the word "good" loosely. They weren't bad - but they were like Tiller's last few years - they beat bad teams and lost to nearly every good team.

As a Herd fan, I watched the WKU/Vandy game and both teams looked terrible. I expected a WKU win but not that ugly. I wouldn't put much stock into that game.

First games are often anomalies. I think the game is 60%/40% in Marshall's favor and the point spread is about right. Also, I seriously doubt Marshall will score 40 and I think that the game will be on the sloppy side.

I think the key for Purdue is their OL and the running game. If Purdue is able to run the ball, control the clock, and avoid turnovers, they should win. Unfortunately, that would reflect a Purdue team totally different from 2014.

Got ours right. I missed on yours. Your offense was very good and #1 is a beast of a runner. Johnson only gained 89 on the ground on 11 carries, so didn't get up there in yardage but very effective.

Very impressed by your defensive line and overall toughness. One of the most physical teams i have seen.
