Since you can now read the story on the two sites above, no need to recount, but this was a gutsy Purdue win which could easily have been a loss against what looked like and impressive Harvard team. Harvard totally outplayed the Boilers in the first quarter and for the first half and even when down 9 in the third, Purdue looked dead in the water. But they hustled and muscled their way back. Most interesting to me was the fact that the Crimson bigs were killing us and Purdue adjusted to minimize that which probably won the game. They better learn that when they confront the BT bigs they will see a lot. Of course, the victory does seem paltry when compared to ND spanking this same team by 50. How sad that the teams that once fought toe to toe for a national championship are now eons apart. But this is what we got, the 2-0 Boilers.

As for comparing our score against Harvard to ND's, who can explain sports? You only have to look at our football team... the team that lost to Nebraska 28-53 and Maryland 13-42 pummeled our football team 41-10 last Saturday. Go figure! Anything can happen on any given day.

All we can ask is for our young women to put out effort to win every game and so far they have done that, even after an almost disastrous 1st Q like they had on Sunday. I still look forward to following them this year albeit with modest expectations.

BTW, has anyone else noticed how trim and in-shape Coach Versyp looks? I hope that speaks nothing but good things about her battle with her breast cancer diagnosis. Very happy for her.

I attended the North Central vs. Lawrence North girls game last night. I think there was more talent in that gym, including Rikki Harris who is head to OSU, then on the entire Purdue roster. I trust someone from Purdue was at the game, and that there is some sort of plan to improve our woeful recruiting and even worse retention. Purdue should run Harvard out of the gym, and we should be as good as if not better than ND. And Bobinski needs to act after this year if clear improvement does not take place.

I know you are anxious to see Versyp gone and I understand that. And admittedly I know nothing about Indiana High School WBB. But for you to say that “there is more talent” between two high school teams than on “the entire Purdue roster” is ludicrous. I would love to see those teams play against Harris (Defensive B1G POY last year as a sophomore who was 10/10 from the field today) along with McLaughlin and Frosh Hardin (four 3 pointers today) and their teammates. But obviously that will never happen and you have a right to your opinion.
