@OSU with Wisconsin looming. We have to take care of business and get back on track. If we lose to the Buckeyes and then the Badgers will def be looking for the knock out blow against us. A loss could put us on the bubble by the end of the year.

I think he means NCAA tournament

That's what I thought. And then I made this face and wasn't sure:

If Painter goes with big lineups, Purdue will likely lose.

If Painter goes with a heavy dose of VE at the 4, Purdue should win.

IMO: the 3-game stretch that starts tonight (@OSU, Wisky, @Iowa) is HUGE for Purdue's B1G title hopes. All three are winnable; Purdue could also lose any of them.

Sweep these next three, and Purdue will be right back in it --- at worst, tied with Wisconsin in the loss column.

Captain Obvious here. With the talent of this team and in the B1G, ALL games control our season and we could win or lose any of them. We ARE NOT going to find ourselves on the bubble this season.

That may very well be. Still have to play the matchups.
I would hate to see what happens on this board if we lose a game playing predominantly the small lineup.
From reading the article about Haas a few days ago, it's apparent he doesn't like being on the bench. If he can cut down on the turnovers and make better decisions with the ball he can still be very effective. We'll see.

Can't look past tonight but I will anyway. Not feeling really good about Wisky having a long week(4 days) to get ready for Purdue.

This is actually a game you could roll with Haas and Biggie. Haas matches up well with Thompson and Biggie can check Tate. Now, when Micah Potter replaces Thompson.....

I haven't watched much of Tate, but I do know he's an undersized big man, and guarding those guys usually doesn't bode well for Swanigan.

I really just thing having Biggie and Haas on at the same time completely bogs down Purdue's offense too. I'm hoping we don't see it.

This season could go down a path that's disappointing to fans expecting a Big Ten title run (as we should) but I don't see any way this team ends up on the tourney bubble.

I actually watched the Minnesota game again last night and it confirmed two feelings I had. The Gophers played a damn good game, maybe as good as they will play all year. Mason was feeding off the crowd and bringing those young bigs along. Playing on the road seemed to benefit them in this circumstance as they hit a lot of tough shots.

Also, an amazing amount of things had to go wrong for Purdue to lose. There was a couple rimmed out layups, wierd turnovers and missed wide open shots. Now the Boilers did some stupid things and had a couple lazy passes, but overall I don't think they played poorly. I think it was just one of those games that happens against a solid opponent.

Tonight will be very telling though. If Purdue wins then I think Sunday's loss only hurts the Big Ten standings and not my impression of this team or its ceiling. If Purdue loses, then I will start tempering my enthusiasm for a special season.

These things are so fluid and in our reactionary culture things get overblown so much, but I do think a team that wants to win the Big Ten needs to figure out a way to bounce back tonight.

I think it really depends on how Haas plays. If he plays the way he has the past few games, our offense is going look awful with him on the floor no matter who is out there with him. I really think you make too much of them being on the floor together rather than just the quality of his play.

I think Haas plays much better when he's the only big on the floor.

But agreed - if Haas gets into one of his early turnover funks, he needs to be yanked ASAP.

Only one Big on the floor helps everyone else on offense. Spreads the floor out and allows for VE to be a mismatch nightmare at the 4 position.

The twin towers lineup might work against a non-conf opponent that just can't match Purdue physically, but in conference play, it just doesn't make sense to deploy two slow footed big men who bog down the paint.

Space is everything in today's game, and Purdue has the roster to utilize it!!!! Plenty of shooters to go with guys who, in an offense with more space, can attack (Carsen and VE) and create even more offense for themselves and the rest of the team.

Playing both Haas and Biggie at the same time basically means Purdue has to play through the post, and limits what Purdue can do.

I'm not saying Haas isn't a good player, and he can still get significant minutes, but it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to play him with Biggie.

Purdue needs to Alpha male it or sit down. Either make a quick coordinated anger move towards basket or dish it back out. We don't need no more funkybunch out there. The funky bunch turnovers that even unathletic people don't make has to stop. Minnesota was intercepting Purdue passes last week more Purdue football threw all season in the second half. Every time Hass came out it was a turnover. Minnesota got 19 points off Purdue stupidity. Not being able to take care of the basketball is a signal that we have fat belly play out there. At least be coordinated. Every game we have to watch that. The lineman on the football team have better ball handling skills.

Right. If Caleb is the only Alpha Male to show up tonight, I say we leave him out there by himself. No more of this weak-minded Beta Male stuff. Caleb is tough in mind. He'll win it on his own if need be.
