Rumor: Belichick to UNC

According to The Athletic, UNC is talking to Belichick about their coaching position. First of all, I'm not convinced this is going to happen, but I have two thoughts:

1) I think it would be a spectacular failure. Belichick has never coached college, never recruited, never won without Brady at QB

2) If it does happen, it makes it more likely that some of our top choices (especially Chadwell IMO) would be more likely to be available.

It would free up or gives us a better shot at a bigger hire

The rub with him is he wanted to be GM and coach at his next destination like he did in New England. He might be pursuing the same in college football.

I don’t see the big deal going from pros to college with the right coordinators and recruiters. Charlie weis would flash his patriot rings and that’s all he did for recruiting and had to classes. Belicheck doesn’t have a style of offense or defense that won’t translate.

I don’t think 18-22 year old college kids will really care about BB. His last 3 years in NE were a disaster.

It’s a splash but I don’t think he leads a college football team anywhere but mediocrity

He did good recruiting. And that was my point.
