I think TCU was not a good indicator of the rest of this season, especially for one, big, obvious reason - QB. I know that sounds “Captain Obvious”-y, but it may be even more significant than some realize. I was surprised not to see any post last week pointing out that we had the top receiver and passer by yardage through week 2. (I accidentally pointed that out on the BB board).
Plummer showed a lot of heart and promise, but Purdue unexpectedly had to play a freshman in place of the leading passer in the nation. Undoubtedly that contributed to Moore’s “down”-game, changed the run/pass threat at the line, and all sorts of other dynamics including fatigue in certain areas earlier than usual.
Assuming Sindelar will be back soon, I think we’ll soon see TCU wasn’t the best indicator of how this team comes along this year.
Boiler up!
