How are you going to punish the criminals? Do tell. How are you going to stop them from doing it again? How are you even going to get a court to say it was the Russian government? The FBI is not a court and its indictments are not successful prosecutions.

read the transcript. All his goals are in there. They are all reasonable goals, better relations with russia, stabilizing syria, communicating better on terrorism, stopping nuclear proliferation...

I did answer your questions. The investigation is still going on. You want a trial in the Hague courts then go for it. You want to use the treaty in place that Putin suggested? You'll probably get worse results. What would you like the outcome to be? Russia will do what is best for Russia whether we ignore it or not. Should the US stop its espionage efforts in russia? Do you want a truce? How does this play out in your mind? I don't think trump is ignoring it. They clearly spoke about it. He's not going to play along with this investigation until it clears him. Until Mueller comes out and says "no collusion" or whatever, Trump isn't giving this the time of day. He thinks this is an illegitimate attack on his presidency and to that point I'm inclined to agree with him.
tl;dr most optimistic interpretation is that Trump is letting his ego get in the way of what's best for the US (i.e. not publicly questioning the broad consensus among all intelligence agencies and Congressional investigations).
Statements matter. Condemnations matter. Not dragging your feet on imposing sactions matters.

Once again, since you seem to be saying the Russian indictments are no big deal since we'll never get them anyway......is Russia more or less likely to try to interfere again if we ignore this attempt?
1. I fundamentally disagree that not beating up putin publicly is equivalent to ignoring it.
2. Russia is equally likely to do it again either way. They are doing what is in the best interest of their country, just like we do to them and many other countries around the world.

Shipments lasted from 2012 to 2014. So, no, Trump sure as shit didn't stop it because it hasn't happened since a year before he even became a political thing.
