I was involved in a discussion over on the Iowa Board where several of their posters were adamant that old type players (Mount, Maravich, Murphy, Carr and a couple more) would never average anywhere near their points in today's game.
I am of the opinion that particularly Mount and Maravich would be at least as productive based upon their decent size, rapid long range release and accuracy, and the addition of the 3 point. They are of the opinion that the increase in the quality of defenses today would handcuff them.
Thoughts? I would especially be interested in those from you who, like me, actually saw them play.

They would have averaged more because of the 3 point line go back and see where both of them shot from the three-point line most of the time

its not like players in the 60's and 70's did not know who these guys were. I am sure every coach that faced Purdue and LSU in those days had planed on stopping the best scorers in the country. They do as well today if not better.
