Jones changes this team to multidimensional

I know it’s early, but wonder about Loyer.
He's been up and down several times, already, in his time here. I'm sure he'll bounce back. I'm sure any struggles are not for lack of effort. I just hope he maintains his motivation so he can develop a consistency to reduce the difficult games.

Won the game tonight. Well done Jones!

Why CMP only brought in one transfer, I will never understand??? Hunt these guys and bring in as many as your scholie grid allows. Make room if needed.
I think he liked what he had returning and brought in the one player to address a big need without disrupting the chemistry. Based on what I saw today, I like it.

That's the problem....CMP over values what he has in guys like Loyer and Morton. Smart heady guys that understand the system.

Morton & Loyer together scored 2 points and together got 36 minutes of PT. Not sure how one says they like that?? How are these 2 continually awarded big minutes??

Loyer no doubt, will comeback with a good game or two soon. But this disappearing act is getting tiresome.

He adds
Speed
Scoring
Attitude
yep...huge pick up...but he still is a little loose sometimes offensively on the trigger just so we get an area to improve. I got my answer from a month or so ago with what I expected @Do Dah Day . Matt started him against the good PG and although he was feeling his way he turned up the heat as did the team second half. After Lance, Matt put Ethan on him and then Braden

Loyer had one of his worst games, but he’s a good player. I think he’ll show it soon enough.

I didn’t think that Morton got a lot of minutes, but I thought he played well. I do think that Heide and Colvin will continue to earn more minutes as the season goes on, but I have no issues with the minutes Morton got tonight.

Hope so.

Think Morton can stop Knecht (sp?) from Tenn?

I haven’t watched Knecht play, but I doubt Morton can shut him now. More likely, he can make him work for his points and force him into lower percentage shots.

Might work? Type of guy he frustrates. Probably too quick for him though. But IF he can do it...player of the game.

Morton will get eaten alive by Knecht. I would think jones I guess plays him? Heide may get eaten alive but I want to see what type of defense/toughness/quickness he’d have against a guy like Knecht. Throw Heide in there and see what he’s got

Don’t think we had room? Plus we brought Myles in which added shooting and athleticism.

MC did well tonight imo.

How did you think his D looked? I keep expecting him to get beat by experience guys, but most of the time he seems ok for a frosh. Keep bringing that guy along, his increasing minutes as the year goes on ...will be huge next March

Fletch struggled with the ball tonight. Purdue has two people focusing on D and apparently they were happy enough with his floor game for the most part. This was a great game for a couple of reasons. As I mentioned before the game somewhere...I didn't think Purdue had played well...yet. That carried over through the first half, but then in the second half the collective put forth great effort where they could in fighting for loose balls and the boards and just making it hard for the Zags... eventually letting fatigue take a toll. 2) they "never needed" the 3 ball to beat a good team!!! THAT is a step forward!!!!

Myles got beat for a backdoor layup, but on the very next offensive possession he hit a 3. Gives us a higher ceiling for sure.

For Those people who question why we didn’t add two transfers, who would you have cut to create the room to add somebody? You also realize the player on the team has to willingly leave. He can’t just be cut. If your answer is Morton, maybe he didn’t want to leave. I questioned the legacy signing. Waddell. He looked ok in one game in Europe, but I can’t see him playing any real minutes for the next 4 years.

I think Colvin is that rare player who can both shoot and score. Painter is trying to bring him along slowly and not wear him out by season's end but I am not sure you can keep him off the floor indefinitely.

He broke the game open with the stretch where he made the two 3-ptrs....looked better on defense, but as Dry mentioned - got beat back door as did Morton once on that same side of the paint.

Fletch will return, but yes - that was one of his worst games I can recall. Ironically, the biggest stretch for Purdue was with TKR, Furst, Heide, Morton, and Jones.....a challenge offensively, but they turned it up defensively, and Jones drove the car and kept it from crashing. :)

ZE was solid in the second half.....Purdue also finally shored up the glass a little. Good fight tonight.....will be really interesting against Barnes and the Volunteers.

Doesn't hurt Gonzaga shot 18.8% from 3 and they had a lot of wide-open looks. They shoot 30% from 3 and it's a 1 possession game.

It wasn’t amazing but not bad like you said. And he got some rebounds!! First of his young career..guess the ball finally bounced his way! Increase his minutes. I love that he has no fear in shooting it on a big stage.

lol wole enjoy the win and a great game. We weren’t getting two transfers ever. But enjoy the ride this year my guy. Hope it ends with all of us enjoying it.

? Where did I ever say Colvin did bad? Should be easy to find that quote...

Sorry was agreeing with you and worded it terribly. I agree that he did ok and seems to somewhat hold his own so far. Got beat on a back door but so did the “defensive specialist” so all good there…sorry need to be better when responding 😂

he still has things to learn like quicker looks at the basket when his player shoots and to not get automatic with the pass that he almost did. You have to bring him along slowly or the other players won't get their shots up. ;) Seriously, I said last year I thought he would be a better college player than Jaden when he is done just due to his ability to shoot the ball. We shall see how that college works out with other talent eating at his stats. I'm a buy on Myles

No question! I haven't looked at the stats, but it was the second half I believe that led to the 18.8% because I'm sure they shot better the first half and so what could have happened the second half? 1) defensive intensity that may have produce a half a second quicker shot than comfortable? 2) A better close out challenging the shooting pocket trying to mess up the mechanics 3) defensive intensity creating fatigue in those legs...possibly due to Purdue's depth? 4) my voodoo doll shooting blanks the second half.

Saw some people in a game thread elsewhere talk about that rim that we shot on in first half and the one Gonzaga shot on in the second half must be off because it’s been something like 3-38 from 3 through 2 games. Sounds a bit different too. And they need to fix the 3 pt lines 😂

Then tomorrow maybe Zach can stuff someone through the rim and break it early in the game! ;)
