Credit Penn State for making this way too close of a game. Not sure I'd want to see them if I'm a high seed. We shall see.
CMP said the players need to do better with the press. Get to coaching! Look up the floor!
And at the beginning of the season we was just hopeful to make the tourney.
I also have to think he's playing the long game with Fletcher Loyer because he knows he needs him at some point.
There is certainly a disconnect somewhere on the press between coach and players when the trap comes.
He has regressed beyond recognition.....no way he gets another start the rest of the tourney....now cant even count on FT shooting
Someone needs to ask Painter in the presser why Edey is not the release valve just short of mid-court.

Not disagreeing Dry.....do the other "little" things in the last six minutes, and the press is not even an issue.
I may not agree, but I understand the argument....Purdue/Texas would flip EAST/SOUTH. I would not be shocked if that's the way it went. Texas has more quality wins than Purdue......more losses, too, though.

You could tell that Gillis took to Painter's coaching. Twice he caught the ball in the middle, decided that the streaking guards were not good options, turned and went right by his man and across midcourt.
Gillis was also coming back toward Newman at mid court, so was doing the right thing. Newman simply (tried to) passed it back to Morton in the PS lane instead of up the court to Gillis, During that last turnover.
That was just a total head-scratcher. Call a time-out, look ahead.....just CANNOT do what he did, and he should know that. LOVE what he's done the last couple of weeks, but that mistake almost cost them the game.
There will be teams, Memphis is one of them, that will press us more than just at the end of the game. It is beyond ridiculous how poor we are at handling pressure. Press us and then fall back into a zone. Recipe for disaster for us.
